It’s the day after my mega ride where I went up Mount Tiede twice in a day, so some much needed recover was in order.
Firstly I’m off to do tourist things, returning to Teide but this time by foot… where I then get the cable car to the top for those incredible views.
I then get myself back down the mountain and out on the bike for a little active recovery spin. Whilst I’m out on the bike I tell you a few things that has made me really love my time here in Tenerife and what I think makes this island so special.
Ones things for certain, I’m definitely going to be returning… I had an incredible time here and I really do recommend it for your next cycling holiday, even if it’s just for the incredibly smooth road surface. It’s a beauty to behold!

The north of the island is the most beautiful and best part of the island. More scenic and more green. Lots more routes. It can get more cloudy come the afternoon as wind blows from the north, but still great temperatures. Would recommend heading to anaga rainforest next trip. Just stunning. Easily accessible from Puerto del la Cruz.🚵

Had a choice 6 weeks ago of either booking Tenerife or Mallorca for a 10 days of cycling, this week.. regrettably I chose Mallorca… currently 11° and rain forecast for the whole week.. gutted! Done Sa Calobra, 1st day.. Strava glitched and didn’t record a time.. 🤨.. Gonna keep going.. will make the most of this trip 💪
That’s it mate… don’t let it get you down! I’ve been away loads of time and the weather has been awful! Just keep telling yourself “I’m away on my bike, out in nature… and not at work!” 😁👍
@@TheCyclingTattooist thanks mate 🤙.. turned out to be the worst storm in 40 years! 1.5m of snow. All the hill climbs closed.. but managed to sneak up to Lluc. Repsol garage.. only cyclist on Strava for the whole day!! Check it out Lol 😂

For a local Mallorca rider ,(me) that goes to Tenerife 2 to 3 times during winter and spring to ride my bike , I can tell you , roads and infrastructure in Mallorca are better , Tenerife is much harder in terms of raw cycling , the north is always little more dodgy weather wise but also really cool , Tenerife has some crazy gemz that in Mallorca would be impossible to match.
But get your eyes in gran canaria , middle of the island 🏝️ has outstanding routes and far less cars, Tenerife in the north is crazy in ammount of cars . Specially on weekends.

Great video! One thing you didn't mention was how good the food is. 1st time visitor to Puerto de la cruz for me this year and I was blown away by the choice, and high quality of food. For me that tips the balance to the Tenerife v Majorca debate. I'm another convert to Tenerife and particularly the north of the island, much more chilled vibe and stunning locations to ride to. Lots of loop routes possible, althought there's no warm up, straight up the volcano climb from the go! As many people say, there are no flat roads in Tenerife. It's not a place for those that don't like climbing!

Good chatty vids…i lost battle with daylight.on mega up n over n back( 116mile, 16000ft )…only back light on. Thankfully they have bold white lines at roadside. Trippy decent to Los Gigantes. Stupid but cold n tired
I did puerto santiago to la oratava n back…too busy rush hour to go into puerto de la cruz….i didnt have a front light…hour decent in dark…desperate stupid
Yeah cold descents in the dark aren’t the best… but sometimes we have to do it! 🤣🙈

Great stuff! Something you might have overlooked, it's not legal to ride bikes with earbuds in in Spain. Hence why sometimes when you see pro's training, you will hear music from a small speaker in their back pockets.

And mannnn that’s a hard one… they’re all so different! If you like the hills and plenty of them, then Tenerife… if you prefer beautiful varied roads then Mallorca… Girona is best for the vibe and culture and obviously great roads too!

Shame you didn't ride the Masca loop, it has the best views imo. What a con with Teide, paying for cable car ticket then needing a permit to walk the rest. Surprised your not trying for the 500 🙂
Yes I rode masca… was incredible! And yes definitely a con with the cable car, funny they don’t tell you about the permit at the bottom!
