- This was a monster day, cycling to the top of Mount Teide in Tenerife, a destination loved by potential Tour De France winners and one of the most stunning islands in the Canary Islands. Also in this video you get to briefly see the moment I had to help a paraglider who crashed into a tree.

Great stuff Chris. My plan is to aim for finishing Wednesday afternoon then chill on Tenerife for about 4 days. Depending on where the gravel route takes us I may have to visit mount teide post-race.
As for epic descents, i must admit i got thrown in the deep end in 2022 on the TCR. My most productive day was riding from a town in the centre of the Alps nearly to the Croatia border, about 403km before i finally slept under a park bench. Anyway during that day i descended about 1300km over a sizeble distance across Italy - it felt absolutely amazing! But wow your hands don't half hurt holding onto the bars for so long! I think i need to relax and not apply so much pressure on the palms, sometimes though it feels frightening on a fully loaded bike!
EDIT : In fact just checked the route that day in case i imagined the numbers, from Ponti di Legno, 39km descent over 1260m. Followed by a little climb then another 70km of gradual downhill.

I did Tiede from North. I was 95kg. My calorie intake was obscene. We joked North Devon is crazy hilly, 1000ft per 10 miles, Teneriffe doubles this !
Yeah I guess the difference is that in Tenerife it’s a constant climb isn’t it? Devon is lots of ups and downs

Mission accomplished. Fun series to watch. Good shakeout for the new sled. How did the Argon 18 feel in ascents/descents? I am digging that rear rack...no bouncing or swaying (at least from what can see). I need to go back to see if you covered hydration/nutrition...I have a ride in May I need to plan for.
