Some of the Greco guitars were really good... and the Burny Les Paul copies were awesome. Too many Americans sleep in how incredible most Japanese craftsmanship and woodworking actually is. Masterful work from the ground up.
I cannot believe, when I see how musicians treasure their instruments. In fact: a shame. Thank you, you have rescued this fine guitar. Greco built fine instruments. Good job!
Hello Friend, nice restoration, I really had a good time enjoying the way you work. This Greco Les Paul is a very good guitar, you just made her more appealing ! See you next video...
At first I came for restoration, but now I'm more interested in how many songs I can recognize in demo section, lol. Great music taste. Thanks for the video!
You truly come up with some interestingly styled guitars. Looks like the market you fish in is robust in the quality used instrument departments. A trick too remove odd skinned/aluminum finishes like that is use a hair dryer too heat it up and soften the glue. Great Work as Always.
am i the only one who thinks the bald patch and lighting-ish cracks before the paint job was cool? anyways - top notch video, always a pleasure seeing a guitar restored and ready for more music
Very classic results after another great rescue and restoration. It has reclaimed it's dignity once again after much abuse. Amazing what a solid beautiful guitar was hiding under all the dirt and paint! Add some double cream Dimarzio Super distortion or zebra coil humbuckers for even more style( but keeping original pickups is great too, economical, and respectable)
I am a long time subscriber and have watched every single video you uploaded. Your restorations are most admirable because of your dedication to smallest details and the patience you practice. That's why I was surprised that you have missed the rear side of the head stock (it's upper part) and that you made some scratches on the polished front of the body while screwing in the screws that hold the saddle. Which makes you human, I guess! Another great job, though.
I groaned a little when I saw the pickup selector switch someone unfamiliar with the concept of masking off things you don't want painted to protect them had done bad things to when painting his guitar red. It's unbelievable, what some people do with guitars and many other "nice things" that's textbook Dunning Kruger effect in action. 🤦♂🤷♂
I acquired an old Les Paul copy similar to this some years ago that’d been painted over with cans of spray paint. I was going to try and do restoration, but quickly gave up as I discovered the body was plywood underneath all that paint. The short story is, it would cost way more in man hours than the instrument was worth, so scrapped it. I DO love watching others do these restorations though.
Same here! Like making a purse from a sow's ear, as they say. Worst wood ever, sound and construction-wise! I got burned on one once too! Tossed it! Firewood.
Damn that guitar's been through a lot. Interesting choice to fill in top rather than sanding it off the old top colour to re-do it. Amazing details into getting the hardware restored rather than swapping them too
You did an awesome job 👍. That Greco is a fantastic Les Paul copy! I have a Aria Les Paul custom (matsumoku) from 1979.... And it's an incredible guitar.
Everything they MADE seemed to have a magic in it, and a Quality and pride of construction and MATERIALS we seldom SEE these days!! I had one or two.....and trying to find a replacement for the one that I let GO! (Not that many LEFTIES out there though!)
@@allenmcdaniel1470 Keep checking on Reverb and other online sources. Ironically, I'm left handed, but my teacher was very persuasive making sure I played right handed...lol. One Matsumoku made guitar I'm looking for one day is the Electra Outlaw.
Your videos never fail to impress me with the amount of time and dedication you put into your restorations! Good work as always, it was fascinating to see such a lovely guitar come out from underneath that exterior. It's always interesting to see the end of each of your videos because what you end up with is always so much different than what you began with.
Interesting! I wasn’t certain as to what I thought of the look of the guitar before the clean up job. After I can say it definitely grew on me. Your work is pretty amazing!
this is ALMOST the video i need....i gotta figure out how to replace or just get rid of the binding! (excellent vids btw! , been watching as many as i can)
You would get a better return on your work if you used American shielded wiring and American pots and switches. The pickups that’s your choice, but Duncan’s and GIBSON pickups don’t cost a lot either.
Жирный лайк! Эту гитару реставрировал классно! Завораживает! И звук у инструмента классный. Я хоть и не гитарист, но хотел бы иметь такую вещь! / A big one like! That guitar restoration was awesome! It's mesmerizing! And the sound of the instrument is cool. I am not a guitar player, but I would like to have such a thing!
i would have just stripped all the black paint off and given it a wood grain finish.. it would have look a lot better than that half baked paint job.. sand out the scratch marks etc., stain it, and clear coat it etc... would have looked great.. any time you redoing a guiatr it's always going to be a custom guitar.. so give it wood finsh every time.. unless you gonna go into a paint booth and give it a real professional paint job
Once again, the amount of work you've put into this one is fantastic. She looks and sounds better than ever now! Edit: Also, the riff played at 35:30 is killer.
😮 I'm really surprised with the level. The level of dementia and bad taste of some people, who after spending a not inconsiderable amount of money, believe in their heads that they can "improve" the work of a professional. These true acts of vandalism and torture towards those poor guitars. I really enjoy your videos, and how you bring these beautiful musical instruments back to life.
Buy a large slot screw driver and some speed nut drivers. Using pinch nose pliers and an undersized screw driver gave me the willy's. Beautiful restoration just buy some tools!
Great work, outstanding video production, and very strong gloves🤣, what was on the red can? impressive cleaner. What I do with the screws, place them on the tip of the hand drill as a drill bit, and use the finest steel wool, slow spin against it and then just some lithium grease. It sounds so good, congratulations.
The metallica reload sticker explains everything.

That turned out really well. Great finish on the paint. The shielded wires from the original manufacturer was a nice touch on their behalf.
黒→赤→アルミテープなんだ😂😂😂
Resurrected a classic lawsuit guitar. Dude, your best job yet.
You have tremendous patience, and I appreciate you making these instruments beautiful again!
this guitar was grounded so hard it was at home for 40 years
Aluminum foil and red paint. I can't imagine how long it took you to get all that off!

What a mind blowing amount of work and effort you put in to bring this guitar back to life ! , well done my friend ! ,God bless !😊
Fantastic guitar Les Paul from Greco, made in Japan.
Sunny Day Real Estate! I just got to see them a few weeks ago! Awesome work on the guitar.

the original aluminum guitar is what those relic fanatic love
You set the bar high. What you did in this video was amazing.
Simply fantastic, great great job once again. I love vintage Greco Les Pauls!
You really saved that guitar and transformed it. Fantastic work!

I liked the idea of a silver metallic guitar but you did a great job with the restoration.

I think the original owner of this was a really big Megadeth fan.
Marvellous. The kinda patience that a real craftsmanship will show through in the final!

The amount of work you put into restoring the electronics is impressive! I would have just replaced the whole lot.

Very buzzy and microphonic, I think new pickups were the way to go
@@danielktdoranie You can always replace the pickups to get better tone.
Just a guess, but some guitar collectors prefer to have original equipment onboard as much as possible, or at least a period piece.
Import electronics are junk. Always good to replace them. Pointless to “restore” them.
Were those "Alps" pots! A Japanese Co. That Made Fairly good electronic things Pioneer stereos had them.

Мастерство, особенно когда трут металлические предметы о железную щётку и они начинают блестеть 😅

another japanese vintage treasure..the white paint rest was the last of the original vintage white finish
Sunny Day !!! ❤
I've got an all original 70's tobacco burst LP. GREAT restore!!! I like your attention to keeping original parts.... Restore, not refinish!
Great job and nice playing and overall production - subscribed!
The aluminum looked odd, but definetely better than the reddish finish underneath 😂
Btw, Awesome job with the wood filler 😊
The person who put the tape on it was trying to make it look like james Hatfield from Metallica’s signature ‘Truckster’ guitar. Crazy.

your playing is even more impressive than your restoration work! thank you
great video!
