Don’t hate on Culligan😂. The water situation is so very different for every region. My hubby is a Culligan man (owner) and I can tell you that once your water is tested (by another independent company for things other than hardness) and you have the unit installed you will immediately notice the difference including with your skin and hair. Depending on what is in your water your pipes, appliances, fixtures, etc. are negatively affected. Where we live there are a lot of wells that have been impacted by gas well drilling, etc. So if anyone has issues or is concerned about their water quality don’t forget - Hey! Culligan Man!😊

Thank you for this video! I heard one minimalist say that if you spend less money on more new things, you could instead spend it on fewer more quality items, which is true. But I think a lot of people would just be happy to spend less period and have the difference to save or pay off their bills. The idea that you always have to buy expensive items just leads to the impression that minimalists are all well off

I find better quality, high end name brand items , by thrifting. rather than getting new, cookie cutter items at target, or chain stores.
I can't afford these high end brands that are all the rage, but I find people donate these items. I shop goodwill, church bazaars and FB marketplace.

Throw pillows rarely come with removable, washable covers, so I make my own. They are easy to wash and change out. I would rather store a few extra covers than extra pillows!

I have wanted a 5.5 qt. Le Creuset Dutch oven in white for many years now; however, I cannot justify paying $500.00 for one. I live in Florida where it is so hot and humid for much of the year, and I don’t cook that often. So I found a beautiful white 5.5 qt. Dutch oven that looks very similar to the LeCreuset, and it’s made by a very reputable brand and it’s very good quality…I paid less than $100.00 for it, and I’m very pleased with it. It definitely does what I need it to do.

I have Le Creuset enameled cast iron pieces that I’ve inherited from my grandmother and I also have less expensive cast iron pieces and honestly they do the same thing. I love using cast iron to cook.

I was looking for a small
dust pan to use for cat litter clean up with the small broom I already have, which ended up being a toy broom set. It was cheap and the broom actually works great for cat litter.

I will say... we splurged on an under-the-sink RO water system for our cooking and drinking water. But we move around fairly often (military) and we've lived in several areas with not so great things in the water. So I definitely recommend looking into your local water supply before making the best choice for your family.

Just about everything for home goods and clothes I try to find first from Goodwill or FB Marketplace. For plants especially I've found FB Marketplace to be quite the treasure trove. Learning skills to make things yourself can also be a huge money saver, such as for pillowcases and other décor items.

I try to get the best quality I can but do it through thrifting for many things. Between fb marketplace, thrift stores, online thrifting, consignment, antique stores, and garage sales, it's a rare occasion to pay full price for new things.

So medications and water are just so personal to your own body and what it can handle. But I love the idea behind it. Challenging us to see what we can actually do to limit ourselves and break free of some of the holds marketing has on us. There are plenty of times what I cherish are odd-ball tchotchkes with memories attached to them.

    I love TJMaxx and Catos.
I have found beautiful beautiful pieces and the prices are budget-friendly. Where I live is very rural. I don't have high-intel shops or options.

Excellent topic for a video Organization baskets and bins…best place…dollar stores! Can’t get any more affordable than that. Not all are great(break easily) but most do the trick!

I buy a lot of things that are good quality but I shop from a wish list so it can sometimes take a while. When I don't have the resources I try and find the item at a lower price. I am of the mindset that it can be inexpensive but it cannot be cheap. For my plants, I used to go to a nursery but then I came across some beautiful plants at both Trader Joe's and Home Depot for a fraction of the cost. I have not been back to the nursery since. I used to have a part time job at World Market and would get rugs, baskets, frames and curtains when they would go on sale. That along with my discount saved me a ton. Years later I still have the items. I don't often reread books so now I use the library. Another benefit is that they won't be taking up any space when I am done with them.

Books are very specific thing. Take my uncle for example - since he bought a kindle he hasn't spent even a cent on books. He switches between library [which is free] and online pdfs [which are also free].

For me, the Ikea Poäng chair is way more comfortable than the Eames Lounge chair. On the other hand, I went through several office desk chairs before I splurged on an Aeron chair, which turned out to be cheaper in the long run.

The double mark up by the 2 middlemen (PBM’s 🤑) on US prescription drugs is ridiculous. This is why the FTC just “launched an investigation” (Wow. A little late 😏). There are a couple of legitimate online pharmacies (research thoroughly to avoid scams or ask your doctor) that offer lower prices.

I agree with the points you’re making i this video. I find if it’s an item I will use a lot I do prefer to buy better quality but for things you just don’t use that much, does it really have to be top of the line? I think not.
