I'm a recovering people pleaser and beginner pipe smoker. 1.5 years ago, I made some massive changes in my lifestyle that led me to a path of maturity, temperance, patience, confidence, honor, and integrity. Your videos continually serve as a positive reinforcement to the path I've decided to walk as a man. Thank you for imparting your wisdom sir, it does not fall on deaf ears. - John

I’m a cigar smoker that found you through the Dry Creek Wrangler channel. I didn’t find him because of cigars but it has given me reason to stay. I never thought I’d enjoy watching videos of men smoking and talking about manhood and faith, but I’ve come to find out I enjoy it because it is missing from my own life. While there are “good” men in my life, there aren’t many that just want to sit and have a conversation over a good tobacco blend. Everyone is in a hurry. Thank you for providing these videos. They’ve actually inspired me to seek out like minded individuals.

I myself am a Southern Gentleman from the Palmetto State, born and raised. A retired LEO and started dabbling into pipe (the cheap ones) smoking after retirement, because of a disability. Year's after my daddy passed away, I was going through some of his things, and in a pocket on his hunting coat ( he was a quail hunter) I found a pipe that he smoked occasionally. That got me wanting to learn even more.
After discovering your channel and watching all of your videos, I was more drawn to get myself a (Real) pipe for Christmas this year. I chose the Savinelli 614 alligator. Thanks for insight and knowledge and history of The Old Ways down south here. I will continue this new journey thanks to you and your teachings. Best wishes on your next endeavors.

Excellent channel. I live in South Florida and have family in Chattanooga, Tennessee. WHEN you open the brick and mortar, I will stop buying my pipes and tobacco products in other places. I will make it a point to reserve my purchases for when I go to visit my family, which is often, and go to your place to make my purchases. In addition, I love the South and everything about its culture, so I see myself traveling up more often than just to visit family. I will be glad to support your shop in person and online. God bless you and your family.

I couldn’t agree more. I have to children 19 and 23 and I have raised them to guard their privacy, to cherish the solitude they have at the lake or in the mountains. It is hard for younger people to want this. My wish it that everyone would slow down, step back and take a breath. Appreciate the smaller circle of family and friendship and not the larger incoherent “social” one…….

OPSEC, operational security. This video is a very gentlemanly way of discussing OPSEC. It’s like stickers on your vehicle can say more than you want if someone knows how to read them for nefarious reasons. Privacy and safety goes hand and hand. Or maybe I’m just paranoid.

Even though it is not natural to speak to people through a camera, I'm glad you have decided to do so. A lot of guys didn't have a daddy to raise them the right way. Now, these guys seek men like yourself for guidance, as you may already understand. As I'm just about to turn 32, I have come to a realization about a year ago that the ways I have learned growing up are not ways I want to continue in. I have found other Godly men online that I admire in my search for guidance and direction. I would like to tell you that when I stumbled across your RUclips page, I was just trying to figure out how to smoke a pipe. I was not expecting to find an intellectual that lives and teaches beyond a surface level. I was not seeking another mentor, but I'm glad I have found one as I take my first steps on my tobacco pipe journey. I look forward to viewing more of your content. God bless.

Excellent video, thank you! I'm also a lover of meerschaum pipes, and except for one of lesser quality I had that never seemed to smoke well, I would say that a properly smoked meerschaum is an especial joy. I completely appreciate the notion of an 'unobserved life'. Social media seem to have fostered some of the worst and most primitive of human behaviour in the form of exhibitionism and voyeurism. Lord knows people didn't need any encouragement in that regard. And of course the media corporations make out like bandits by the commodification of titillation and prurience. Anyway, congratulations on your decision to go ahead with your brick-and-mortar shop! I applaud your perseverance and look forward to patronising your establishment (though it will have to be online, as I live in Vermont). The pipe-smoking community needs more intrepid souls like you who are willing to take the road less travelled in this regard. When I was much younger, I would never have thought that pipe smokers would ever become a dying breed. Perhaps there is a large-enough 'breeding population' of us in the wild to maintain the tradition, but I suppose time will tell. Cheers and Happy New Year!

Today’s world is upside down to me, when I see people in public places taking photographs of themselves over and over again to get the perfect selfie, so they can “present” it on their social media platform....missing out on the actual DOING of the fun.

Good word! People have a very difficult time with leading a quiet life because in today's society we are taught to be and are fully engaged in our narcissistic selves. "Look at me" is the norm. Anything that takes the light off of ourselves is rejected. Self is the focus and is the ultimate idolatry. A quiet life will cause you to inwardly look at yourself which is totally rejected in today's world. Nice to know that there are others being led to live this way.
Your choice of Ale 8 to accompany your pipe is a good one. Nothing better than paring an Ale 8 with a smoke, Im a gar man myself. I'm glad I found your videos. At first I was drawn by the pipe and tobbacco content but I soon found a like minded voice " crying in the wilderness". There a missing element of proper, God ordained masculinity in our culture. You seem to have found it. It's not about muscles or being dominant in our interactions with others, it's about doing our best to live up to our God given responsibility to fulfill the man's role in home and community. Too many times we listen to the crowd instead of the small, still voice that was promised to lead us...if we' ll listen.
Thank you for listening to that voice and sharing with us.

That's one of the reasons why I have a RUclips channel. It's almost like my part time job. I'm a simple housewife living in the modern era and I needed something to occupy some of my time while my husband was at work. I know a lot of things and I was like there isn't any just raw youtubers out there like you and I who don't get fancy with the editing or anything like that. We just sit down and chat with what's on our mind and hope that someone who was struggling with their life would find wisdom in our messages. Plus, it's very therapeutic for me. I do like going live every now and then on my channel just like you do to make that connection with the person at the other end. But I love your videos, they are just what I need when I need them. I thank you for saying what some of us don't have the Gaul to say. It reaches us at a different level.

Always some sage words of wisdom, Alan! I like how you are a tad younger than I am, but you have become someone who I can look to for some good, man-of-God-ly inspiration. It's sad how much folks these days are throwing away, and cheapening their lives, by simply going with the flow of society......minds numbed by incessant scrolling through vapid garbage online, or trash on TV, etc. Not to mention how many people have fallen into training their minds and bodies to be "intimate" with ...a-hem... certain online content, all the while thinking that it is a harmless activity. And most certainly, an activity that leads to that "secrecy" that you mentioned! But I digress.

So true. Destroyed my mind with all of it. People don’t like to talk much about that poison because behind closed doors it has its hooks in most of us, men and women alike. Artificial intimacy is quite possibly the Adversary’s greatest weapon in these times bar only vanity and pride.

@@bcj842 yep, it's a hugely powerful weapon of destruction, which so many of us simply happily welcome into our lives. But I can happily say that there is hope of freedom. Even if a person might have to pray and struggle with it for 20 or 30 long years, a day can come when God makes big things happen.

I am so blessed to hear you speak of our Lord and His Word. May grace and peace be multiplied to you and all who confess the name of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Even those without a religious background can surely appreciate the science of pair bonding. The fewer partners you've had the greater the likelihood that you will have a successful lifelong relationship. That is science, it's also the proof in the pudding of scripture.

I just recently started watching your channel after doing the video with Dry creek Wrangler when you gents were enjoying a pipe together. I like yourself waited until I was married to my wife of over 20 years now to be with anyone else we only know each other. Too much of society holds nothing sacred, and they have no moral compass. I started getting into pipes when I was around 18 I went to a cigar shop and would hang out a bit you could smoke cigars and pipes in the store so we would sit back and talk. There was a gentleman who had a beautiful mirschum pipe that was well used and had a vibrant red color that look amazing I look forward to getting a full size mirschum pipe. Thanks for sharing and I look forward to more of your content. I do agree in-person is a much better format but you can certainly meet a wide audience on youtube and hopefully you will add some things on Rumbe.

I very much like smoking my calabash/merschaum pipes. I have 6, in addition to several Savinelli pipes. Thanks for the videos you do. I seriously agree with your approach to life.

Jefferson Davis also had an eagle claw meerschaum. He took it into captivity with him and even wrote what a comfort it was to him during those hard times. His pipe is on display at his presidential library near Biloxi, Mississippi.

I am always eager to hear the carefully considered words of one who gives the benefit of experience and wisdom. It usefully takes a while for me to make a determination but carefully listening does the trick over time. I have found that a pipe in hand is an enhancement in that regard as it requires attention which allows the mind to carefully consider our words before opening our mouth. I very much appreciate how you speak slowly and deliberately about what’s on your mind. Fast talkers have always given me pause. I sometimes find myself hung up on some aspect of a discussion & if the conversation is a rapid fire event I loose some that comes while I’m stuck. Pipes give us a chance to digest to some extent before being asked to swallow the whole idea. What I’m trying to say is thank you.
