impressivly well done, one of the better versions i've heared. props for the director and artists. i've heared this song like 1000s of times and It still manage to squeek a tear out of me.
I have to say, that was the best non-original song I've ever heard for Baba Yetu. I'm still not sure if I like this version or the original better, but, you know what I mean.
Nice, nice. It's far from perfect but what I really like is that it isn't rushed. As another comment said on another version of this song, nearly all versions on RUclips seem to be rushed.
Holy shit. You guys were amazing. This was definitely worth 5:31 (-1:35) of my life. Great job, if I ever got the chance to see you do this live, I probably will.
It wasn't a joke, I just meant that it isn't important which color your skin is. Especially not in a prayer to god. Just what you feel and if those feelings are honest.
Kaldhore, Sorry to disappoint you, however my parents did not have access to the video booth and had to sit far away, they did the best they could under the circumstances.
Just wanted to add That sometime my criticism of Baba yetu cant seem severve. Baba yetu is dear to my heart for personal reasons. I listen to all bab yetu on the internet and leave comment. i hope people will re-read my comment and understand.
now the soloist here are better than the disney guy but ... lol ... sorry to be a smart ass ... i kinda hoping for a high note on the last solo piece ... put the skinny guy on ... i think he can make that one just nicely
some aspects of this was very well done, best of the internet. but other aspects were very low sound level and hence poor. At first i was hoping this was the best but bits made it quite bad,
I think this choir did a really good job, but I think the extra instruments took away from the song and more importantly the singers. I can understand the drums but they went a little over the top. This song is so beautiful because its such a simple song and it shows the talent of the singers because all they have to rely on is a piano. I think they did a beautiful job, they just need to get rid of all other instruments minus the piano and drums.
This was good, tho I feel that the quartet needed a little more work, and was very overpowered by everything else. The soloists were good, one of the best I've heard on here that isn't the original
It's a HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR.... We get things wrong... Plus it's in another language. Get the stick out of your Butt My choir is at a collegiate level so don't knock it until you've had as much training as ALL of the STUDENTS in this group.
Get over yourself, people are entitled to their opinion, so if anything has something to stick out of their butt, it'd be you. And guess what, I didnt like it. You guys were too soft, and the leading vocal has a weak voice and sounds like he's scared. Go cry
I'd like to see you do stuff like this. This choir has done Mozart's Requiem and rocked it. Not many high school choir groups can achieve that. One of the issues with this song was that the lead vocal is quiet but you can still hear. Honestly, this choir, that I am very proud to have been a part of, is one of the best in the state. Don't expect perfection when it can't be achieved from someone other than the original artists themselves.
Wow, what kind of argument is that? "I'd like to see you do stuff like this."? I dont have to show you nothing. Plus, you want me to do a choir performance? Can you please those cells you have in your head before throwing out random butthurt comments? I heard so many choirs, so many covers, I know when I hear something good, and when I hear something, in my opinion, isn't good. Your whining won't change that. The entire performance was weak and your subjective opinion you make based on the fact that you are in this particular choir doesnt change anything. With those stupid arguments of yours you'll get nowhere. And no lol, you are definitely not one of the best ones in the states lmao.
Heather Fuson "I'd like you too do stuff like this" is a weak and desperate defence. It's like if you went to a restaurant, ordered the steak and got it as a cremated piece of junk with withered dying vegetables as salad. Then when you complain the chef goes "I'D LIKE TO SEE YOU DO BETTER". While ignoring you don't have to culinary school to note that the steak is shit. You don't have to work in the film industry to say M Night Shyamalan made a travesty called "The Last Airbender".
I admit that the lead vocals were quieter than they needed to be. I also never said that we were the best in the states as I know that we were very far from that. We competed in statewide competitions and won awards for our performances, but I'm not saying by any means that we were the best. I was honored to be able to be a part of this choir for the amount of time that I was in it. We performed Mozart's Requiem and other pieces like that as well as this number. Not our best, by any means, but at the very least we had a blast performing.
...and the stigma about games not providing artistic value goes on. You wouldn't expect what from a video game....a soundtrack? Come on man. I enjoy the performance, but at least understand the context of the song within the game. The game's about civilizations...cultures...the song makes perfect sense.
They were really good. My choir is singing this song we are stil learning it but I love singing it.
This choir is so small... Wow... My choir is 75 people. And we are doing this song. Well done.... I hope we do well
I LOVE THIS SONG.......THE LORDS PRAYER IN SWAHILI......100% LOVE THIS SONG....WOOOOOOOW WOOOOOOOW.........
uhmmm what a fantastic performance....i luv it, everything is excellent clear....well done..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i give 10 out of 10......
THIS VIDEO SHOULD NOT ALLOW A DISLIKE BUTTON!

great song wonderful

Sounds really good:)
@153harmony They have the pronunciation spot on for the most part.
"YETU", not "YAY-TOO"
Apart from that, Brilliant rendition :D + I really liked the second lead vocalist
beutiful
epic win

@justinvan777 It's the Lord's Prayer in Swahili.
It wasn't a joke, I just meant that it isn't important which color your skin is. Especially not in a prayer to god. Just what you feel and if those feelings are honest.
thank you so much hahaha
Thank you so much.

Kind of bugs me how he mispronounced the name of the song, but it's great to see video game music getting recognition in the world.
@kelk0530 haha actually meant the violin :)
Kaldhore, Sorry to disappoint you, however my parents did not have access to the video booth and had to sit far away, they did the best they could under the circumstances.

@justinvan777 swahili, one of the biggest native language in Africa. Didn't he just explain it?
which one?
Thank you, and I will have to check them out.
tomntam01
Press 3 :D
Hi kaiyaxrawr, Thank you for your comment. How did your performance go?
tomntam01
@jonmahoney04 technically it starts at 1:43 but i see what your getting at ;)
Nvm about it being small
Beautiful. Strings needed tuning, but otherwise very well done.
i like the addition of instrumental but it makes it hard to appreciate your talented vocals. Your soloists are wonderful, though. :)
It's Yetu as in the sound of a in "lay" not as in the "lair".
i'm sure this has been said but I just need to say that it's not "yay-too" it's "ye-too"
Sorry dude, I just tend to search for this song and comment on the substance, no offence intented and im sure the effort put in was great.
now the soloist here are better than the disney guy
but ... lol ... sorry to be a smart ass ... i kinda hoping for a high note on the last solo piece ... put the skinny guy on ... i think he can make that one just nicely

too much open e >.<
otherwise, props
i think all choir directors like to talk a lot before songs.........
@153harmony It's not "Yetu" as in "lay" either. It pisses me off. It's "Yehtu". American pronunciation I swear...
This was good, tho I feel that the quartet needed a little more work, and was very overpowered by everything else. The soloists were good, one of the best I've heard on here that isn't the original
Music starts at 1:35.
Bla bla bla...

Music is not a language of colors ;)

realy great.. but the violin ----- it doesn't really fit into this wonderful song
English speakers don't even try to pronounce other languages properly, without English accent. It's "yetu", not "yatchou"!!!
Too slow.
i love the song Baba Yetu, but this choire ruined it, aside from the long winded introduction.
How can you something dedicated to your daughtet that is not yours, but all of yours! Such an arrogance.
Not the best choir version, honestly.
worst re-interpretation. backfire
