Guys if you don't have vtec DO NOT WORRY, there is a solution:
Get AT LEAST 4 vtec badges (any less and it won't kick in).
Place 1 badge on the trunk, 2 on the side fenders and lastly (the most important location) on your dash.
Once you're done, start that bad boy up and rev the nuts off of it a few times. You now have vtec.

I wanna get into a D16 conversion, but there's very little knowledge about it, except for the "mini-me". Most written about it is the LS/VTEC, which is on B-series engine.

ORRR you could look at the engine code on the hood and search up that engine...

Ok, so I have really put in some work on my car. Rebuilt engine a few years ago and transmissions clutch. But recently I gave it a tune up, new wires, plugs, new fuel filter, air filter, oil and oil filter.. I added some Techron in the gas tank a month ago. Added SeaFoam in the throttle. Cleaned out the IACV. Adjusted the Thermal valve, tightened it down a bit... New Pcv valve, new radiator and heater core hoses, flushed radiator, etc. And it's really picked up some Power and immediate response. I am really impressed with this little car. And now around 4,500 Rpms, all of a sudden it's like a Power band it just starts to really kick into over drive and takes off... so fun now!! It seems like Vtech but I am sure it's more like a power band on a Motorcycle...

You can tell if it has vtec without even popping the hood. Just listen to how the car starts. The vtec engines turn over at a higher pitch and also sounds more electric (if that makes sense). the non-vtec will have a lower pitch and does not sound as good as the vtec ones do.

Vtec has been around since 1983 when Honda put it on the 400cc bike now many company's make variable valve timing.

If you have an Acura it's easier for you to find weather you have a V-tec or not, cause it says it right on the engine, it's a really good engine, powerful while driving it and going fast and the sound of it as well, you can hear it and tell the engine apart from others.
My 04 RSX Type S doesn't say VTEC anywhere, but It definitely does. Then again, the previous owner probably lost some of the covers underneath the hood.

Just underturn the exhaust valve 8,28%, and make sure your hypercooler is properly connected through your DAF to the turbos ignition. If the DAF sits lose, your E-8 can not boost your vtec.

The best way to know if you have a Vtec? Drive it. If you get a surge of power at around 5500 RPM, it's a Vtec. Unfortunately, mine isn't.

Might have VTEC-e which you probably won't be able to hear a change, but anybody asking or looking on youtube doesn't care about VTEC-e.

Hey man I have a 97 Honda accord. the problem I'm having is that the engine was replaced by a mechanic. however the mechanic failed to give me the specs on the engine.
now I'm having a hard time getting a starter for the car without knowing the specs of the engine.
im trying to exhaust all my options before towing it to a mechanic. any and all help appreciated.

not directly, thats just how i remember what it does. in actuality, depending on whether it is DOHC or SOHC, its essentially vtec with a variable intake cam gear.
Vtec -e. D16y5 The hx model just need bigger headers from the d16y8 or after market to perform
when I get asked what is VTEC, I simply just say its basically a 2 stage valvetrain :)

Well I have 2 v tech Solenoids on mine so what does that mean I'm new to the Honda thing.
Also single Jingles can have VTEC I thought that was only dual cams well now I know I got to try to find one of those so I can use that on my daily I wanted to do cam swap it but that's expensive I'm just going to drop a head and the wiring harness and ECU

Can I put a vetch in my non vetch car without any modifications. The guy that sold me the engine said just don't connect the solenoid cause there is no connection. Just can't take advantage of the performance vetch gives you. I'm ok with that if its true.

If it has VTEC it will say so on the engine top? Seems like most newer Hondas have some variation of VTEC, with iVTEC being very common.
It doesn't necessarily say it on the top of the engine if it has VTEC or not, but if it does, you definitely have VTEC. Otherwise look for the solenoid as in the video.
Ok listen! If your honda suddenly kicks in after 5000 rpm and scares the shit out of you then you know its a VTEC i know this because I have experienced this feeling 😂😂

does a 2000 Honda civic LX suppose to be vtec... I was looking good for crazy for the gaskets that go into that vtec solenoid and I could find it on the auto zone website. I switched it to ex category and there it is.. I'm starting to think someone swapped her engine lmao. no wonder the solenoid wasn't even connected to anything

Ex Hx civics all have SOHC vtec engines. SI type r civics have DOHC vtec. All integras have dohc engines. Some don't have vtec tho. Not sure with models

Umm, you do know that Acura is an off brand of Honda, Acuras do use Honda engines, And yes Vtec is included in those Acura Engines and I-Vtec

Just below the RAX connector to the IPC4 pump. You might need to disconnect the brakevalve on the lower gearpair.

Another easy way to know if you have vtec is most if not all vtec heads (single cams) have the spark plugs/wires on the bottom of the "Honda" b series motors all have center spark plugs/wires so yeah look for a solenoid iThink my explanation was better
