No matter what party you belong to corruption must be punished to the fullest extent of the law and prison time must be served

This isn't new for Menendez, last time there were enough folk willing to look the other way. Not this time, hands in the cookie jar, busted.
It is good that Sen. Menendez is being held accountable. Now, what about Alito and Thomas, are they not also accountable?

Put him on trial. Let the jury weigh the evidence, and if the evidence is compelling (and it certainly looks like it is), convict him.

The problem with Menendez blaming the wife, is that the wife was never in the position to help win contracts and influence people, in order to extract bribes from them. Also, as one of the people who were doing the bribing, has said it was old Bob who was a party to the entire scheme, and the wife was along for the ride in her new car. I also doubt anyone in Cuba, who wasn't a government official, has ever held a gold bar, I doubt people were keeping them under their beds. The guy was guilty last time, and he is guilty this time also.
Lawmakers and law enforcement are racing to the bottom regarding which is the more dishonorable profession.
Menendez should appeal directly to the Supreme Court. Several of them would be sympathetic, I'm sure.

Menendez should have resigned already, thus allowing NJ's governor to appoint another Democrat as a replacement. Not doing so and being found guilty, which appears very likely, will trigger a special election and 'all bets are off' with a republican potentially winning that seat. That will tilt the Democrats' slim majority.
