One of the best tips I ever got was " slow wins the race when docking" You can always add power but slowing down is not so easy.... Sometimes we watch the show, and sometimes we are the show! So I learned early on not to pick on people, maybe help them out docking, because next time it maybe your turn to have the wind or current catch you off guard. Good job Girls!
Alright Gale Force instructors - today was my very first 'back into my slip' day! I watched this video like 20x and followed it as close as I could remember - it only took me 3 attempts and I only closed my eyes once... SUCCESS! No boat was harmed, sacrificed, threatened or bruised in the backing up of my boat...lol Thank you for the class!
Really enjoy your vids. 40 yr old dude here that’s been driving boats for years and still suck at docking. I learn a lot from your vids. Might I suggest mentioning how you tie off your lines to account for the tides so your boat doesn’t get hung. That would be good info as well. Thanks!
Literally this morning I made a comment on their 10k celebration giveaway that uploaded 4 weeks ago because I was amazed they already were at 26k and here it is 13 hours later and they're at 28k. That's crazy.
Simply, I am hooked!! Just started boating last year using a 23 foot Mako. First time I backed into a slip and tieing off was a real event I do not want to repeat. This old man has learned from you young Captains. Thank you.
The two of you could run an incredible clinic on handling a boat. Love the way you explain things as you are doing the activity. Plus, the logic behind why you are doing it a particular way. Great job and keep up the superb videos.
you all probably dont care at all but does anyone know of a tool to get back into an instagram account?? I was stupid forgot the account password. I would love any tricks you can offer me!
@Jax Ralph Thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
please refrain from the 'male bashing', really is repetitive and tiring in today's hedonistic /feminist culture....besides, you're showing you are a #Beta male, which women tend to flee from. I've seen several videos done by Guys and they did fine.

Found this channel two days ago..... now I’m binge watching. I used to watch “livin the keys life” but they disappeared so I started searching videos about the Florida Keys and found you. Great job and fascinating material so far!
Learning so much from these videos and all. Keep up the good work . Love how modest you ladies are and not dressing in all the skimpy clothing like others wear.
Great job ladies! You gained another sub here. Made my gf sit and watch your vid on docking in the canal. Told her you gotta watch these two girls. They're bad@$$! Keep the tutorials coming. Please. Been on boats before I can remember, now 44 years later and I'm still learning. Thank you ladies. You're mentor must be proud.
Thanks for posting these videos! I have always loved fishing but since I’m in NY, never could justify the cost (storage/maintenance) for a boat. I’m considering joining a boat share instead. These tips make me feel more empowered and more comfortable to give boating a shot. Thanks!
You two are very good and proficient, easy to understand. Thanks for the effort. Some for everyone even an experience boatie, - maybe for the guy whose been off the water for a bit, we all forget the little things.
Great tutorial and great to see the difference in slips. I’m on Lake Michigan and my slip is the full length of my boat but there are no pilings or ropes with me and my neighbor. Thanks to your tutorial I realize I have too much dependency on my slip fenders so I’ll adjust. Thanks!
Wonderful videos, this is exactly what my sister and I were looking for, boat safety and all things important to nautical life. Your descriptive teachings and explanations are very helpful. Thanks for the great job in the making of these videos.
I’m a 61 year old guy who is a relatively new boater. I just love the way you both share your knowledge! I also keep my boat in a slip. Can you please share how often you flush your engines? I bought a 2013 Robalo R247 that was a Great Lakes boat with 540 hours and has never been in the salt water until this season. In season she now lives in the Navesink River a mile or so from Sandy Hook NJ Thank you both for this channel!!
These girls are great and are bringing a unique and much needed level of instructional. You’ll always find envious hateful people. Best to ignore people like that. The twins will continue to do great! Congrats to them and to their proud parents!
Love watching you young ladies. You are very informative. I hope one day to retire in Florida, about 13 years from now. Hope you two are still at it then. May visit florida next year for a vacation. Me and my wife would like to charter a fishing day with you gals. Stay safe.
I very rarely join channels on FB as well as youtube. You two are amazing fishermen, Captains, and role models for young people! So...I'm now a follower.
Hi Girls, from a fellow boater operating out of the small island of Malta, Europe.......South of Sicily in the Mediterranean, absolutely love all your videos!!!!! Unfortunately had a small accident last week cracking my wrist....got caught between 2 boats:(. so I found you guys and have binged watched practically most of them :)Excellently well explained boat handling, looking forward to the next one. A BIG super well done!!!!! I have subscribed, thank you
Well done!! I love the fishing part. Especially the Barracuda and marlin. Talk sushi. Yummy!! Keep up the awesome videos. The Boat Force is strong with The Gale Force Twins.
I had a 23 foot Crownline until Hurricane Sandy destroyed it, but I was at 2 separate slips during the time I had it, I used to sweat bullets trying to dock it at the first slip and the second slip which was nicer and bigger. I just said screw it and went is bow first. I never did really master docking the boat and provided much free live entertainment for fellow boaters watching me. Anyway, Captains Emily and Amanda you are good and make it look easy.
Hell of a lot easier with two outboards than with a stern drive or inboard. I've watched my buddy back into a slip with with an inboard single prop in a 15 knot crosswind on the first try every try....even with a customer's boat he's never driven before. Truly impressive. Aside from years of experience, the most important is staying calm. Don't panic, don't overreact. For most folks, if you're looking at a bigger boat, 32ft or more, consider investing in a vessel with a bow thruster.
Good stuff. With any serious wind I'd start the maneuver into the wind (i. e. In the first scenario go past the slip, turn away, and then reverse into the wind. Better control, you can use more speed.)
