This guy was amazing. His phrasing, his leads, his timing, his singing, few can match this. Just the top dogs,...SRV, Albert King, BB king, Freddie King..Jeff was right up there. Being blind and playing in his lap, he never missed a lick. I love him.
All true. Then add on a very, very good singing voice. Why is it the blues greats were all great singers? Curious thing to think about. Many legendary guitarists were not singers.... but pretty much all the blues ones, were. Food for thought.
The Blues with feeling and heart. What kind of moron would give this a thumbs down. Wish JH was still with us, but thankful we still have these videos and his music to remember him by. What a talent.
His technique & vocals were unsurpassed. It was a sad day for Blues and Jazz when recurrent cancer claimed Jeff Healey, March 2008. ~Greatly appreciated and sadly missed.
@Kingscrib. Digging’ your Neon Park Feats avatar! Saw them twice, met the band backstage once (unfortunately, after Lowell’s time, but they still banged ‘em out, with Fuller and Tackett aboard). Peace from Toronto!
I had the privilege of seeing Jeff Healey live twice, and after the first time, I couldn't even look at my guitar for a week afterwards, that's how blown away I was! By the second time I saw him, I had become much more confident in my abilities as a guitarist, but I was still absolutely floored by what he could do. One of the most soulful players out there, and his loss was a very bad day for the blues, a very bad day indeed. And for all the doubters, Jeff had no vision whatsoever. In fact, he had no eyes; he lost his eyes to a rare form of cancer when he was a toddler, and that same cancer later came back and took his life. The only "eyes" Jeff had were made of glass.
@@TheRealMrbuffcat Not many did, Phil. He always seemed to know exactly where his chair was, and it took me quite a while to figure out exactly how he did it. He had his monitors set up facing his chair from opposite sides, so that when he could hear both monitors equally, he knew it was safe to sit back down. Jeff was a master showman, no two ways about it.
One of the tastiest blues players to ever walk the Earth. As a serious lover of many different styles of blues, I do have to admit that Jeff Healy surely had his equals. But there have been none better at tasteful slow blues. And the blind guy taking a deep swig of beer during his solo? Like a boss. "Nice Problem To Have" is surely one of the very best blues instrumentals ever recorded. Check it out if you never have.
I picture my life as if Jeff Healey was alive, im happier that way, thinking he is still playing gigs around and being THE BEST :DD Love you Jeff, your feeling in your music is way beyond everyone elses.
First time i nitice Jeff was in the Roadhouse movie, at first i thougy it have to be some funny movietrik, a bliind man playing guitar. Shortly after i found music in my local musicshop and after i told everyone: he is the gratest guitarplayer ever. Pure and simply awersome.
That lick at 1:14 is about the tastiest piece of blues I've ever heard. For being a contemporary of SRV, he never got the same credit, but to my ears he was technically better, played just as expressively, and was capable of more stylistically than Stevie. SRV was great, no question, I just never knew why Jeff was overshadowed.
A wonderful old man taught me how to play pool. When he started to lose his sight, his lovely daughter bought him a watch from CNIB that quite literally "told" him the time. All he had to do was to press the crown button.
🛎️ Un coup de blues sûrement un génial, partage offrir ces comme un bon bœuf carrotes, mi la ré sol si mi, je vous remercie tous ensemble.. Bonne continuation 😊💯💯💞🗝️🎼🎶🎵🎸
There's a reason you can't find many 'how to play like Jeff Healey' tutorial videos. His licks are like no other.People just don't seem to be able to replicate it ,even though, unlike Jeff, they were able to see what he was playing.
Still here 2023 🎉 Jeff Healey will always be rembered and loved 😢❤ Rest in Peace
REST IN PEACE JEFF.
THANK YOU FOR THE MEMORIES.
YOU LIVE ON BROTHER IN OUR HEARTS

So do I, just amazing.

I don’t know if anyone can match the speed of his licks! They’re legendary!

Poage57...only four thumbs down out of 94K views...is ...a cow. It's friendlier than you believe. Cows love music.
@@thereforeayam You are right this thumbs up to down ratio is still absurdly good considering there's always idiots down voting great videos.
I bet Stevie Wonder gave it a 🤙🏾. The two have something in common 💙

I've tried, but I honestly can't find the words that sufficiently convey just how much I appreciate and love Jeff Healey.

Wow I didn't realize the extent of his blindness

my man is high!! This music is awesome.
He was really something else. The licks he plays are so intense, uniquely his and full of emotion. A true loss.
It doesn't get any better!! The world lost one of the greatest when he passed. Thankfully what he left us will never leave us!!

Fantastic blues player, such a shame he's gone.
Just an incredible talent. So sad for anyone to die so young.

You’re right he slaughter Stevie on little sister overall he’s better.
So right. He could hold his own with anyone, and smoke plenty of them.
"...I just never knew why Jeff was overshadowed." Cdn vs Amer. (Plus keep in mind, SRV was of course pretty darn awesome)
Miss you Jeff, miss you greatly.
