Jeff Healey and Gary Moore, two of my all time favorite musicians. Both these guys had an attack that would peel the enamel off your teeth! God I miss them!
This is one that got away, I never got to see him live. What an absolute fantastic talent. Yea play them blues my man just awesome! RIP BROTHER you earned it.
I’ve never seen nothing like this guy and never will again. The emotional output, not only of this style of playing, but of this man in general, is unmatched by most others.
I had the once in a lifetime privilege of seeing him live right around this era! It is one of the most memorable concerts I've ever been to! He was totally amazing and beyond inspirational!!!
Ray Charles agrees. There is an extra special aspect to what they can do with their other senses, or so it seems. Not that you need to lose your vision, but I think it can bring a focus to those so afflicted that comes out in special ways.
Imagine how much he felt, up there on stage. All the vibrations from the speakers... It had to be absolutely insane with him being tuned into those sorts of things because he was blind. Being a guitar player myself, I imagine he could even tell the difference in how each note vibrates. That'd be something!
I had the honour of meeting him backstage after a show. A real genuine and humble guy. He was king enough to sign my guitar pick guard. Will never forget that day.
Said hello to him and the band when the were playing in Liverpool in 1989 my first ever gig! A night I’ll never forget!!! A special talent taken too soon
A fine gentleman. I got to chauffeur him on 2 occasions when he toured through San Antonio. He smiled when I said it was nice to meet him the second time.
Life dealt Jeff a heavy blow. Cancer blinded him at the age of about one. Then struck again & killed him with lung cancer in his early forties. Yet it somewhat compensated him as, first a rock/ blues great as both guitarist & vocalist, then later as a jazz afficinado on trumpet. Jeff, because of your great talent, you will never be forgotten.
How brilliant did Jeff have to be to learn all the chords in this totally original manner of playing with probably no one to guide him? Profound respect:)
Part of Jeff's secret of his amazingly rich sound came from custom pickups that came from Vancouver Island. I don't remember the name but they used braided very thin gauge wire coiled and set in resin. He experimented with jazz later on but Jeff was a blues man at heart. This world's better for the talent and passion he shared. RIP Jeff.
What a very talented man he was! I've never had the pleasure of meeting him but I can tell he was a wonderful man. To be blind and have that talent he's music goes right through my soul I am always speechless listening to this so captivating! May you rest in peace beautiful man
I know of a few more solos that can bring that feeling back for you. Check out the covers of Have A Cigar & While My Guitar Gently Weeps by 'The Main Squeeze '. Max is the young guitarist and he is simply from another world. Extremely talented and The Main Squeeze is just the tightest band you will see nowadays.
Jeff your with God and im sure the angles are playing in your band in Heaven... There was only one Jeff Healey... nobody can replace you and your music RIP.... SwB
Damn, that's a soulful man... At 4:13 all the hair on my back stands up. Even I have an instant urge to stand up from my chair, too. Phenomenal. Blessed. Eternal performance...
Great talent and inspiration. I used to watch him at Grosman's. I'd stay into the early hours of the morning listening to him and Pat Rush jam. it was amazing.
steven batty - same here bro - saw him at the Regent Theatre in Dunedin, New Zealand in 1991. I had my near-death motorcycle in April 1990 and lost my entire left leg plus I suffered numerous other internal injuries as well. A girlfriend and I attended his gig and it blew my mind. I asked my girlfriend if she could go backstage after it ended and inquire if it would be possible to meet Jeff. He agreed and off we went. It was only a brief meeting and he opened the door of his room backstage and shook my hand and we introduced ourselves. Told him I was a complete left leg amputee from my accident around 12 months ago and we took our conversation from there. I thought he was a way cool super laid back kinda dude with a superb sense of humor/wit and we laughed together at some blind and amputee jokes. It was easily one of the highlights of my life. I felt his inner strength. Unfathomable. I wasn't the strongest of guys back then (27) but man did Jeff Healey provide me with an opportunity to meet a rock star with a disability who somehow seemed to possess an almost 'god-like' nature whatever that is. I could also feel his compassion and empathy for not only me probably for the whole of mankind to be honest. It was definitely a spine-tingling moment for sure. Have NEVER forgotten meeting the one and only Sir Jeff Healey.
Jeff is A GREAT between the GREAT ONES. It amazing the way he plays, with the strange position of his fingers (also a great bluesman voice) A Virtuoso with all letters. He makes me cry because of the Talent that God gave him, having a condition that makes many other to not dare to do many things, But him is an example for all of us. God Bless him forever
He had such an unorthodox way of playing the guitar. Having his thumb available to play notes instead of just holding the back of the neck opens up incredible possibilities. Such an amazing talent!!!!
I have some bad news for the guy in back waving at him. But what a sound! I love how Jeff plays. It's fast and athletic, without losing the soul and heart and feel, which is a difficult middle ground to find!
nicsandknacksandseans The guy waving at Jeff is like the guy at the Montreux concert who yelled something at Jeff and wasn't loud enough. Jeff said, "You have to speak up. I'm blind."
The most incredible blues playing I've seen save for when Eddie ,Alex and Mike did a blues and Eddie didn't finger tap once! This as great as Eddie was and I've recorded and jammed with the late greatest guy Eddie V.Jeff and E.V.H playing this in HEAVEN
I saw this amazing band in the UK (around this time I think) and it was one of the most superb gigs I have been to. His guitar technique and sound was amazing. The three of the mad the Hall jump. RIP Jeff.
Watched this video first time, cand stand the tears. Wtf you do to me Jeff Healey? Why am i born in 93 not earlier? Maybe better not to ask too much questions and just enjoy
How he pulls off a wild walkabout solo like that and then just makes a bee-line back to his seat ... not sure which feat was more impressive! Awesome spatial awareness.
This is proof that life is not fair. Jeff Healy, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and BB King have all gone on to be with The Lord, and we're stuck with johnny beavers and his lady google.
Thankfully we still got doyle bramhall, phillip sayce, gary clark jr., derek trucks, marcus king, and eric gales among a lot of other less popular but no less amazing blues guitarists
Norman Jeffrey "Jeff" Healey (March 25, 1966 - March 2, 2008) was a blind Canadian jazz and blues-rock vocalist and guitarist who attained musical and personal popularity, particularly in the 1980s and 1990s.

You damn right
Gerald Bagari Indeed!
This is one that got away, I never got to see him live. What an absolute fantastic talent. Yea play them blues my man just awesome!
RIP BROTHER you earned it.
I had the fortune to see (hear) him in Milano . He remains among the best guitarists i've ever witnessed. I miss him.
Totaly agree my fav.

Damn, lucky dog =)
Fantastic, love him for ever and again
Met Billy Gibbons many years ago. Asked him if he'd heard this version. He said Jeff wrote it all over again
When the blues grabs a blind man..MAGIC occurs.
TheKatkilla67 ...it just doesn't get...more "Blue" than bein Blind....smh...

Wish he was still raising the family and making music.
OMFG..... What a talent. Damn!!! I hate it when we lose such a gifted artist way too soon..
It sucks even more when you have had the privelege of meeting him backstage after a show ...
H e was my friend, he was the best, there was no one like him. I miss him.
I had the honour of meeting him backstage after a show. A real genuine and humble guy. He was king enough to sign my guitar pick guard. Will never forget that day.

When some play, their soul bleeds through their instrument. This sets them apart from those who merely play notes.
Mridowindows Jeff's and Stevie Ray Vaughn's souls came through on their guitars. I miss them so much.
Amen brother
👍
Thats an amazing way to capture musical greatness...

because he plays with feeling, from the heart - this is the man's soul on display. blind or not, he wanted to make music. and he did. very well...
