I swear, Laura has to be the hardest working young woman I know! Fantastic work ethic, and so real on camera. And what a great song to have stuck in your head!
The toughest also
Grant you’re a lucky guy. Finding a beautiful lady that isn’t afraid of hard work is rare nowadays. You guys work great together. New to the channel and love the content.
don't forget the cat! cat is mvp!
If you guys read this... word(s) of the day -- Strap Wrench!
@@Jon_Pearl they don't read or reply to anything. They don't care about their fans, only the money they make off of the videos.
Laura is bad ass !! 🙂 Pretty too.
@@funnyfunky9949 sure because they totally have time to respond to thousands of comments, messages, and emails while running a farm full time plus time needed with friends and family. Idiot. 🙄🙄
Laura does not shy away from anything. Grant said "want me to do it?" Laura: Nope, I got this!
Laura may look featherweight but she is TOUGH.❤️
Farm girls are tuff people
Laura closing the hood on the semi is very cute and entertaining.
Your Channel is a thousand times more enjoyable to watch since Grant has been participating more! You guys are awesome together!
Laura and Grant I love your RUclips station I am a 78 year old man in Eagle Mountain Utah that follows you often. As I watch the above video of you and Grant on the pivots I want to tell you you two are perfect for each other and perfect mates Laura I love your toughness and your ability as a farmer and I love the way Grant lets you be a farmer you're a great farmer's wife Grant your great Farmers husband what a great team you to make God bless you both sincerely yours Bob
I'm a born and raised New York City boy that loves your channel, keep it up you guys!
Just one point that we all say Grant is a lucky guy if only we could all find our Laura in life! you both are an inspiration to us all
The two of you are just a delight whatever you’re doing!!!
Laura lifted those wheels and never broke a nail. What a gal.
That girl(Laura) can outwork most men!! Not afraid to get her hands dirty!! Keep up the good work showing us the farming life!!
Wow wee! Sometimes I think your winter projects are even more difficult than your spring, summer, & fall jobs! So much work all the time!
Girl 🥰you shouldn’t lift such heavy things by yourself. Your poor back!
Love ❤️ you! Grammy
Hiya Grammy! Hope you have been doing well and had a happy holiday season!
Good job on the oil change. Any mechanic will tell you that any small job can go sideways on you. If there weren't so many pivot issues how would we your loyal audience ever learn anything? Look at problems as content opportunities! 😁
Also mark the date and hours on the new filters!
I AM SO HAPPY TO SEE YOUR FARM GROWING AND YOU AND GRANT DESERVE ALL THAT YOU HAVE, BECAUSE YOU WORKED FOR IT. GOD BLESS.
One of your best, and a testimony to the strength of your marriage.
Yes, I did learn something! Those damn pivot tyres are much bigger than you realise when they’re out in the field. Those suckers are huge!
A 5-gallon bucket is handy for a lot of things, nuts, bolts, small tools. Not fancy, but works.
Oil Change Tip: Write the date and mileage on the filters with a sharpie so there's no mistaking how long it's been.
Laura is a hard worker and got the biceps to prove it.
I loved seeing the little things, like how Laura took the last lug off the pivot wheel and immediately turned her elbow and shoulder toward it to keep it off of her in case it did fall. Common sense is more common on the farm than anywhere. Grant -- 5 hours of persistence on an oil filter and then the joy of success. Life is better when you keep smiling and appreciate the little things! Love you guys attitude and channel!
I love watching you and Grant work. Not sure which is more fun, the commentary or the ummmm 'working' ??
Laura and Grant, y’all are perfect for each other and a match made in Heaven.
I second that and that smile always makes me smile
God bless
sorry to burst your bubble but they don't read/reply to the comments. They only care for the views and the money RUclips pays them.
Laura and Grant reached out to me before.
I have got a couple hearts 💕 on my comments before, so at least I know they read some of them. I got to say they sure made my day. 👍
@@funnyfunky9949 why else would they be doing youtube videos?
Always brightens my week seeing a video from y'all.
Such a pleasure to watch you guys working together, we can all ise more of that! Jobs well done, Laura you kick butt! 👍🏼👍🏼
Grant! Laura is small but WOW ! can she carry way more than her on weight. I love watching y’all.Laura can do it all, Y’all are such a great couple together. KEEP up the good work!
Grandpa Wilson must’ve hot rodded a few cars in his time, that crane is spot on an engine hoist design. Even got the hydraulic hookups!
When you put the impact wrench on the bolt and it doesn’t seat, just continue to apply pressure and at the same time giv ‘er a little trigger and the socket will easily sit down on the bolt. No need to touch the socket and waaaaay quicker!!! 😊😊 Good work you two! Enjoy your videos immensely!
I love watching you two work together yo get things done around the farm. I always have to laugh when I see Laura doing jobs that are almost too big for her with Grant behind the camera watching like closing the semi hood. Laura always powers through the task, though.
In addition to so many machines, the obligatory equipment is a 12 V battery operated oil pump. It is used for pouring in and pouring out oil and similar liquids.
Homemade wrench to remove filters. Take a pipe 3/4 . Diameter. Cut to length you need. Weld a socket on one end. Cut slot in other end the width of a rachet strap. Use a rachet strap. Make a loop in the strap. Slide into slot leave slack on the strap. Slide strap to top of filter . Twist and it will come loose!
That homemade crane setup is genius.
Hope you guys have taken a farm safety course and have a action plan if something goes south. Think twice… foresee trouble. Absolutely loved this.
Great job moving the pivot Laura and Grant
Don’t know f you mentioned this prior, but be sure to start a logbook for your repairs to the new semi tractor.
Keep It in the cab and on your computer so you can keep track of things.
Good job on the oil filters.
The next oil change should go 75% faster!!
One of the things I dad would try years ago was take a really strong penitirede oil onto the gasket area in the top of the filter. Use a shop rag tied around the top and then try to tighten it first to break the gasket loose. If doesn’t work. Then reply the oil again and let it soak again. Then tighten again. Then wrap more rags around it to keep the old oil from getting everywhere.
I bet a hundred bucks that Grandpa, who created and built that heavy duty winch, used to take nuts off of wheel studs in a whole different manner. My Grandpa never lived to see an impact wrench like that used on the farm, but one thing I do know from watching him take the blades off of our bush hog by himself with a long wrench, you wouldn't have had to ask him more than once if he'd like to borrow that thing.
Team work makes a dream work!
Love watch watching you guys!
Again...I feel like I am there! Thanks for sharing! God Bless!
Nice tools! JD and Milwaukee!
Winter is not a slack turn your farm. Good to see the new truck is nearer to being ready.
my favorites when you guys are working together - great team
Go to any tool store and get the biggest pair if channel pliers you can find. Will make the filter removal easier. Less damage or crushing former truck mechanic so I know the struggle of overtightened filters
.
Been wrenching on semi’s for 30+ years. Get you a strap wrench and long extension. Keep the strap wrench as close to the top of the filter as possible. Also use chassis grease on the o-rings on the fuel filters. The fuel will wash oil off but not grease. Makes them come off easer. Oil on oil. Grease on fuel.
Laura, when you raise the hood of the truck, do it from the side of the hood. Just push straight up. It’s easier and less chance of a slip and fall. I drove truck for 30 years. Stay safe 👍
@9:25 OMG, the look on Lauras face at “Took some took'n”. That needs to be a meme! Maybe even a T-Shirt. lol
Laura and Grant..... This is what I do when I service a truck. It takes me maybe 1-2 days tops to service it, depending on what else I find. (We have 4 Trucks and 3 Lime Spreaders) Drain the Oil first, if it's the end of the day, let it drain overnight. Replace the air filters, however many you have. When replacing your oil filters and fuel filter, fill up the filters before installing. That way you have oil or fuel flowing through the whole system right away. Check your belts, coolant, washer fluid, wiper blades, transmission and rear ends. Adjust your belts as needed. When you start to grease all your fittings, check your brake shoes at the same time. All while looking at all air hoses when you're under the truck. Clean the inside and check all gauges to make sure everything is working ok. Don't forget to check the horn as well. Lastly check all your tires for the proper air pressure. (We air our tires to 110 psi all around) After a couple of years, you'll be able to do it in a day. Just some helpful advice. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Well done, you are showing some serious mussel there Laura. One thing about any farm, there is always work to be done to get ready for the next season. Hope your spring gives you time to play also.
One thing I always do on ALL my engines (if possible) pre fill your filters before you install them. It stops bearing wear. I only say this to help you save your engines from dry starts.
Thanks Laura and Grant for the ride along great video 👍
Hope that wasn't the push rod falling out the bottom of the block. LOL so funny . Love this couple.
Thanks for another great video as always I love the fact that no matter what you have to fix you always have a smile thanks for people that have never farm that it's more than driving tractors hope you all have the best season this year thanks again for the video caint wait for the next one 👍🙂
Thanks Laura And Grant For Bringing Us All Along!! Love To Tag Along!!
Keep Smiling On!!
😀👍👊❤
good job guys on that filter.........back in the 50s and 60s when i was a mechanic we use to pound a screw driver through the filter.........
Go to your Snap-on Dealer and get a strap filter wrench. They will be a big help. in my 25 years of working on trucks you learn the tricks after a while. Good luck with your truck
Thank you Laura and Grant for another great video. Glad you were able to get the new oil filters on your new truck. Stay safe. Enjoying watching your journey.
sorry to burst your bubble but they don't read/reply to the comments. They only care for the views and the money RUclips pays them.
I bet those "Welker Farms" guys would be pretty proud of that homemade crane gramps built!.. lol Nice work!
Laura and Grant it looks like Scotty is running the shop now I just love how you close the hood on that semi it's just cute because you are just so small and the hood is so big but you close it like a pro we love you guys we are praying for your family's blessings from Martinsville Indiana
Thanks for the oil filter update. Nice work, Grant! :)
I have had the same issue when I was a mechanic on a fleet of trucks. It is more common than you would think.
Rule # 1 prefill oil filters when installing, otherwise it’s a good way to send a rod externality, bearings don’t like to be oil starved.
Pivot you mean you’re going to teach everybody the dance, Laura
Laura, Grant, Buy yourselves a dead blow sledgehammer in stead of kicking those wheels off the pivots your gonna hurt your legs kicking on that equipment. Also when you change oil do not use the old dirty oil on the brand new oil filter?? Clean clean oil on a clean mounting surface. It might not stick as bad when you go to change it. Love your channel..... be safe in all that you do. Dannooo out.
Snap on makes the best filter strap wrench. It looks like a socket with a 3/8 drive in one end and a 1/2 drive on the other and the strap goes through it. Best $75 you'll ever spend 👌
Very interesting to see how the pivot is moved. Thank you very much.
Hi Laura and Grant. I alway enjoy your video. This time it was so funny to see how you had a little difficulty in removing the wheel from the old pivot. Til next time.🖐
hello Laura and Grant. If you come across hard to get off filters again, pierce the filter closer to the top so that so much torque does not have to travel from the bottom to the top. A second and better choice would be to get a proper filter wrench. Have good days!
I learned not to move a pivot, and I thank you and Grant for teaching me that.
Laura every day, makes my day!
you can also drive a heavy-duty screwdriver the upper middle of the filter and use it to twist it off.
I love that the speedometer is in 10ths
Oil filters can be fun Laura! Keep one of those lighter duty 1" tie down straps handy, make yourself a simple ratchet strap for removing some of those tough over tight filters. Use a fingertip in fresh oil to apply a layer of clean oil on the new rubber gasket. PS, check to be sure the old rubber is off the filter case housing first before installing the new filter(s)! -Bob...
Grant can’t be unhappy, he’s Married to YOU! ❤❤❤ Keep up the Great Job, I always called pivots irritation during season n pivot irrigation off season 🥰🥰🥰
really enjoyed this video and watching both of you tackle what others would run from . you are a remarkable couple . stay safe and true to each other .
You guys show what it means to be dedicated and how hard it is yet satisfying.
I don't know if your dedication and work ethic was ever part of a song but like show business "The Show Must Go On" and thank God there are people like you.
THATS HOW I TAKE FILTERS OFF LARG SCREW DRIVER THRU THE FILTER AND TURN IT GIVES PRESURE TO BOTH SIDE OF THE THREAD AT THE SAME TIME AND IT COMES OFF ITS NEVER FAILED FOR ME WELL DONE GRANT AND LAURA.
OTC makes a socket for each filter same size as the end of the filter 20 bucks each, sold thru NAPA.
2 things -always pre fill both oil filters then spin them on-that will get you oil pressure much quicker--Invest in a correct filter wrench for the next oil change--easy-peasy!!! Oh,and always prefill fuel filters too..
Grandad built some handy tools.
Scotty is Foreman, cheerleader and HR. ❤🥰
Y'all get the job done and gets the boot if it's too stubborn to move. Farming always needs physical from time to time but it's the most satisfying. Cordless tools have sure evolved.
Thanks for sharing. Laura you are a awesome worker Grant is a very lucky guy to have you!!!
You guys always make me smile.
Why didn't you fill up the oilfilters first, before screwing them on?
When they are upright like here you can fill them so the motor has less time running dry after an oilchange.
Great video Laura and Grant
You guys work great together how nice for you. 👍👍
FYI I like to fill the filter with new oil then install. Doesn’t starve engine for oil on startup. Same with fuel filter. Sorry those filters were such an issue. I hope you got the cab heater working.
Yes it's cold in Nebraska and Iowa.
Next time turn the tires to the right will give your more room. If truck is in neutral you don’t need to push clutch in. Good job
Oh I do know that fleetguard LF 3620 filter. I delivered and pulled many of them out of inventory at a truck parts warehouse. And I don’t care if I ever touch another one ever again. Lol! 😁
Vaseline on the seal works WAYYYYY better than used oil. My grampa taught me that when I was little. He was a trucker his whole life! 💪🏻🇺🇲
Keep going guys
Thanks for the update on the truck - that was an awesome solution!
Outstanding job Laura and Grant you guys work so well together. You guys make a awesome team, no matter what you guys do. Love watching your videos too. Sorry I’m hooked on keeping up with you guys. Just beautiful videos in every way. Lots of hard work I know but just look at the beautiful scenery you guys have out there. Just awesome and I look forward to each and every video. Just like to listen to you guys. Have a great day and see you in the next video --bye for now.
Thanks for the truck update. Looking forward to see what you do to it next.
I have enjoyed learning about pivots. I also enjoy watching Cole the Cornstar and they don’t irritate at all in Iowa. What a time saver.
two hard working kids - not to mention way too cute together! Great to see!!!
Well done
Scotty is there for moral support. You guys are so funny. Love Laura's Karate kicks on the tires. That battery powered impact wrench probably weighs more than Laura does. Trials and tribulations come with both a purpose and a reward. In James 1:2-4 ESV it says.....2 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, 3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. 4 And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
Good job getting the oil filters off. When putting new oil filters on, you may want to fill them with new oil. You can also use that new oil to coat the gasket. With the oil filters full of oil, the oil will reach the engine components faster upon startup, because the engine components don't have to wait for the empty filters to fill up and then go to the engine components. Saves wear and tear on engine components over time.
I was having lunch this afternoon and noticed a RUclipsr with her parents want to say hey I follow you, but decided just have my lunch and let her have lunch with family.
I love learning about farming. Thanks for the videos.
Good Job=Good Mind and Heart!🤠
Great job you two and great team work really enjoyed it thank you for sharing and your time can't wait for next video.
