It’s a good idea to reverse up the trailer with no bucket on as bobcats have most of there weight something like 70/30 over the rear . 👀

Same as well. I'm a trainer at work on several pieces of equipment. But that is 101. Also as they live in flat country. Not as big a problem. But in hilly areas. Being mindful of keeping your counter balance uphill. Is a good thing. Keep you from rolling it. Not only hurting yourself. But hurting the equipment. Skidsteers in general having many statistical accidents. Mostly bystanders. Have to be careful with them.

First, congratulation for their hard work. Even though am not expert, but I think they should load the skidsteer in reverse to avoid toppling. Am not jinx anything.

You might want to consider backing the skid loader on the trailer since the weight is more to the back than the front on a skid loader. Safety first.

The hydraulic flow. Basically your axillary hydraulics is opposite and bobcat from all the other manufactures so if you’re swapping attachments from a neighbor who happens to have a case or a SV your hydraulics are going to be backwards and you’re gonna have to switch your connections if you’re borrowing attachments from your John Deere, I would check with John Deere to make sure your pressure and return are the same

Laura a few helpful hints here... a ton of people have commented that without the but or other attachment counter balancing the front when loading or unloading, back the skid steer on. True!
But I will share an old time trick we used to use on old 2 wheel drive backhoes.. take a chain and loop it through a stake/tie down pocket mid trailer and then the other end around the quick attach part of of the boom. As you go up the dovetail of the trailer, raise the boom and it will hold you down on the trailer. It will keep you from doing wheelies or rolling over.
Also your Bobcat skid steer is new enough that sitting in the cab on the right side where the bucket lock is, there is and ISO and "H" pattern button before starting put in "H" and you will have travel on both sticks... forward and backwards for each track and right and left control bucketand boom controls
Put in ISO mode the you have forward, back, right and left on your left stick and bucket controls on your right stick. Have to shut machine to off to switch. Each has pro and cons.
I have a Bobcat T770 and run mine in H pattern most of the time. Also to turn Hi Flow on... on right side above the green unlock button and where the lights are you will see a hydraulic button. Push it twice and you will see a little green LED on each side of the button and controls on sticks will run the functions of the attachment. HI-Flow on display.
One thing you will come to hate us if the boom is not all the way down you can't open the door! 🤬🤬🤬 That can be a pain in your ass at times when you are by yourself
Be safe and happy farming!!! 😉👍👍

    G & L,
Another good way to smooth dirt with the bucket is to get a bucket full of dirt for weight. Then put the bucket full of dirt flat on the ground or close to flat. You will get the feel for exactly what degree of tip you want as you work it. Use the float setting and back drag the area on a 45 degree angle to the cut (or the berm whichever you're dealing with). In extreme cases you might want to back drag it twice over in this manner but the second time you back drag, do it in the opposite direction, again at a 45. That would be 90 degrees from the original back drag (a cross pattern). I have never done this with a skid steer, but I have done it with a backhoe many times. Should work the same provided the bucket is large enough and heavy enough to do the trick. It will give the topography a lot smoother general finish than trying to use the sharp edge of the blade to get close to a finish grade.
I notice that your new skid steer has the arm set up so it can reach high enough to load into a regular size dump bed. In certain situations that's a great tool to have. Maybe they all are that way now, none of them were that way in the beginning and it was a pretty bid deal when they started appearing with that feature.
Good luck. Love you guys videos.

  • @daveolegnanas3008
    @daveolegnanas3008 4 месяца назад

I enjoy watching your videos. Maybe a tip I can provide would be to purchase an inexpensive vise you can attach to a plate, which will fit in the hitch of your pickup. That way when you have to "wrench" something that is a little stubborn, it will be a little easier to lock one side of it into the vise and you can then "ugga dugga" whatever you need to release. Also, I'm sure you and/or Grant have seen someone take a box end wrench and make an extension to another box end wrench for some additional torque. Put the box end of the extension wrench on the lower tang of the open end of the wrench on whatever nut you are working on. You can then push the flat side of the wrench providing the extra torque against the tang of the open wrench on whatever you may be working. Confused yet? May take some experimenting to get it on there correctly, but it provides a little extra torque to bust loose a frozen nut.

When loosening a fitting and you have the T595 close by. put one wrench in the chain pocket to hold the fitting. it will come off easier. remember keep the mud cleaned out of the tracks. when loading the T595 without attachment back it on. the T595 has the 74 hp engine and the counter weights that adds more tail weight. Have seen them rock back on the back door and toast a engine. T595 is a great machine. Laura did great loading. Most would have quit.

  • @bryanwelsh7608
    @bryanwelsh7608 Год назад +1

Whew! That was almost a bad situation in that first clip loading onto the trailer. Bobcats are very bouncy and tippy when no front attachment. When I was a kid, I used to always do wheelies on our wheeled Bobcat, especially when changing attachments. Backwards and then quickly forwards and it will go right up. I also noticed in your other video when Grant was bringing that seed into the shop that he didn't lift the forks after setting the seed down (banging forks on concrete floor when exiting shop door). Since they are so bouncy, especially with no load, you usually want to get the lift arms off the ground. You don't usually drive around with the arms all the way down unless you are moving something big/heavy and going very slow. Jealous about the purchase!

    1) get a length of tubing that fits into the pockets on the trailer deck
    2) get a steel plate, sturdy enough to mount a bench vice to. drill holes as needed.
    3) weld plate onto tubing, bolt on the vice. if the vice can swivel, all the better.
    4) if your trailers all have different-size pockets, make several bases - you never know when you need to hold something, but still need both hands free...
(and yes, REVERSE onto the trailer, esp when there's nothing attached to the boom - rear 'wheelies' are hard to recover from, been there still got the scars)

few things. Congrats on the skid loader. However, you want to load it backwards up the trailer or that will happen or the truck will move foward only load it foward with heavy implements on it. Two you should get a skid loader trailer mover they are great we don't know how we would live without them. Third, you need a brushhog and grapple and pallet forks they are all great in their own way. Lastly, you want to make the attachment pickup the skid loader by having the attachment push it up off the ground. We put on forks and it was not latched all the way they fell off and almost killed my brother.

Always load your skiddy in reverse especially on a deckover trailer, bolt at least 2 3inch channel irons on the beaver tail for traction, keep your tracks spotlessly clean, keep a spare belt on hand especially with the tracked units, get a couple of 1/2x 4 or 4.5 coarse thread bolts for the quicktach that go into the spring assembly (don't ask how I know all these things) use real good quality extra tacky grease and do the quicktach pins and bottom pins in half the recommended intervals. Biggest most used attachment is a pallet fork, make sure it's at least 48inch and don't buy a China one, get a deere or Bobcat one. Have fun and be safe, if you are working around trees or loading gravel over top of the cab remove the door and save the cost of the window, that's another reason to loader in reverse.

All of ours are wheeled with the exception of the s250 that has wheel spacers and over the tire steel tracks...If it wasn't for all the concrete we are turning on constantly we would probably have a dedicated track machine. I watched the Neighbor dig out a 200 ft driveway in the rain with a rubber track machine down to the clay with no problem...a wheeled machine would've spun out in minutes 😅

It might not be much use for a lot of farm work, but will sure speed up a lot of tedious jobs, well done. Then a few years ago we go an older Case skid steer on the farm and, to this day, I kind of suck at running that thing. I don't put enough seat time in to get used to it. The controls are very different, in that there are no foot controls at all, but you still use both hands to go forward and back. The advantage of this new Bobcat that you bought is that you can drive with one hand. That means you can take a drink, make a call, or scratch your nose while you are driving.

Love this video! Love to here your comparisons between the models you looked at with pros and cons. I deliver ag equipment for Case, Kubota, and JCB dealer. Like someone stated backing on prevents wheelies (no thrill in that though lol) or leave your attachment on and keep it low and drive on to help with weight distribution. Eventually you will be confident enough to spin it around on trailer and drive it off. Won’t take long to get the hang of controls, just keep using it as much as possible. 100% every farm needs one of these!! Very wise investment, you won’t regret it. Keep up the great video’s and enjoy your vacation.

G'day from West Oz Laura & Grant. You've done it again & made my day ( night actually) with your happy & enthusiastic appreciation of the fruits of your labour. I can ride bikes, drive cars & trucks & tractors but those "skid steers" have my number. My first effort many years ago resulted in running over the lid of the septic tank on the property & getting the thing firmly wedged in the tank. Luckily I was reversing or I would have spent an extremely smelly hour trapped in the cab before the crane truck turned up to free it. 🤢.

Wonderful to see the incremental growth for such a enthusiastic couple!
A set of vice grips may help when nuts and fitting seem slippery. A small breaker tube can be placed over the static adhustng part of the grip for better leverage. Have fun! Blessings!

I would keep the bucket to put on the trailer until you are comfortable with hand controls. It's tippy without on the ramp without weight out front.

You really want an attachment on the skid steer when loading it on the trailer. It needs that weight up front. Great addition to the farm! I love my skid steer.

If memory serves, those Bobcat brand attachment hydraulic couplers are a -12 orb fitting. Many folks end up with a 1/2" NPT fitting. We used to order the NPT fittings from A&I. But several vendors sell such a coupler. Also, many skid steer/CTL's use those same style of hydraulic couplers. They shouldn't be too hard to find.

    Congrats on the new purchase.
I find it's easier to undo fitting like that easier the way Grant was doing it.
Would be worth buying / making a set of adapters, so you can use the skid steer in the workshop when servicing your tractor equipment.
As for the hand eye coordination. You might need to get a game console for in the evening, then you'll get more practice while having some fun. (I know it helped me when I visited the USA and Europe where you drive on the opposite side of the road)

I was talking with a Bobcat Operator who is building our new Dock and he warned of a problem with the Bobcats... If you have that BUILT UP MUD AROUND THE TRACKS GET RID OF IT ASAP.. It damages the wheels under the Track .... He said it works like Sandpaper.... It is very costly to repair and replace and there is a good chance that is why they sold it and did not clean that mud away......
