Sam Lake's passion can really be seen when he talks about his works in interviews, and can really be felt when playing his games. Remedy is one studio that is highly unique, can't wait for Alan Wake 2
The existence of Sam Lake gives me such joy.
@@stellarobado4269 The existence of existence gives me such joy.
Control was one of the most uniquely fun game I've ever played.
Top tier developer, one of the best in the industry right now
🤣
Oh yeah, writing is on level with Kojima. If not better.
Only second to Quantic Dream
if not the best
CONTROL was/is such an amazing feat in storytelling.
It doesn't get nearly as much love as it deserves.
lol bro. it was GOTY 2018. what are you saying?
Didn’t care about the story. Only cared about getting the Platinum Trophy but the gameplay was awesome!
Maybe because I’m not a fan of supernatural stuff it felt kind of nonsensical to me, but the general vibe and delivery was great. It just feels like once you get into time travel, parallel universes, anything like that all rules are broken
@@slothsarecool Supernatural elements vis-à-vis Jungian concepts though. A thing that's never been done in any game or any other visual media that I've ever heard of in. And the depths with which they extend those concepts is astonishing.
@@Pusapauit released in 2019 and didn't win GOTY
Control was a solid game.
Nope
Can’t wait for part 2
Amazing gameplay but very bad level design
Solid gameplay, mysterious place to explore, awesome soundtrack and memorable moments. Yeah definitely a solid game!
Oh hell yeah
Can't wait for Control 2 too
Me too
these developers really know how to create an atmosphere of dread and despair.
control 2 2?
Control tutu?
From an artistic perspective this will be the most significant release of the year. No doubt.
Of course, Spider-Man and so on will outsell it. But there is a difference between art and fun blockbusters. Remedy has always been set right in the middle and did this perfectly.
One might say Remedy are the A24 of gaming
Well said! 🎯
@@albanier8426A24 is just a producer though, they don’t really “make” they just fund. And yes the people behind those decisions of that to take on funding wise have great taste but a24 doesn’t really make anything just distribute and fund.
totally agree
Exactly
Interviewing Max Payne for the Remedy Connected Universe, Control, and Alan Wake has got to be the best thing done lately!
Sleeping on Quantum Break is crazy
the mix between sam lake and the amazing voice of James McCaffrey its just pure magic!!
One of the best parts is Poets of the fall/Old Gods of Asgard are going to be in the soundtrack. Which started in Max Payne 2, when Marko of Poets talked about his band doing a song for the games soundtrack. I'd be funny if he popped up as Vlad, again. He was the person that portrayed him in game.
Marko is in the game as young Odin Anderson.
Great to see Ahti in Alan Wake 2. What a great year for survival horror and video gaming in general 2023 is :) Sam Lake is probably one of my all time favorite writers in gaming. Easily up there with Laidlaw (Half Life), Dan Houser (GTA and RDR) and Hideo Kojima (MGS)
Shared universes are my JAM. Especially from a horror standpoint. Hence why Remedy, and Stephen King, are the bees knees for me.
I'd love it if there was a throwaway line about how in the initial draft for Alex Casey his editor made him change the characters name to sound less cheesy and make him an FBI agent instead of a beat detective to seem less cliche. Subtly hinting that at one point in the writing process Alex Casey was Max Payne.
Control had a line stating how in one universe the detective was a character in a book and in another the detective was real. Not so subtly hinting that Max Payne actually does exist somewhere in the Remedy connected multiverse.
@iamskyfall I'm pretty sure the detective they meant was Alex Casey which is a character written by Alan Wake but to your point the Alex Casey is a nod to previous remedy game Max Payne
Remedy is one of the best studios these days! It's great to see they keep on making masterpieces like these.
"It's not a lake, It's an ocean." Can't wait!!
Love this studio's dedication to craft
There was an Alan Wake reference on a blackboard in Quantum Break that also mentions Altered World Events - so Remedy were definitely toying with these ideas long before Control came out.
And Control did more than "provide a new angle on the events of Alan Wake" - the AWE expansion basically alluded to the fact that the events in Control were 'written' by Alan while he's trapped in the Dark Place. Indeed Bright Falls Sheriff Sarah Breaker's father was mentioned as being a former FBC agent in 2011's 'Night Springs' comic and this was confirmed by documents found in Control.
The part when Alex shows himself with a green light around him it’s like the V Drug effect from Max Payne also his name is the same as Max s friend and we have the New York setting which is where Max starts his story for revenge
Nice 1 Sam and Remedy
As a Control fan, im honestly excited 😊
Hope we see Jessie in the game at some point
That would be amazing.
or esseJ
Unlikely. She's the Director now and they stay in the Oldest House. We're more likely to meet just FBC agents
We about to meet Former, shhsshhh
@@VAVORiAL Now that would be awesome
These games arent just solid, Remedy is the MASTER of story telling at its best when todays games lack all of that. Change my mind. The Max Payne series was one of my favorites of all time. It connects all of their games into one story. Its insane
Finishing AWE Control provides the complete series of cutscenes, where it is implied that Alan WROTE Jesse to life and the agency so that someone can find and save him. Not mentioned here.
What I m more excited is that after Alan wake 2 ...Max Payne remake is being developed by remedy
What I'm more excited than the Max Payne remake is Max Payne 2 remake develop by Remedy
the way that remedy just improves from game to game and then does all these fantastic details that just adds to the whole world, it is such a breath of fresh air in the stagnant video game world nowadays!
Sam Lake really knows how to sell his game, I'm seriously hyped for AW2!
Technically Quantum Break had Alan Wake references, so it's also in there
It most likely would be if Remedy would only own the IP
The games this people create are just so different and so unique, we need more!!
Rockstar and Remedy are my favorite develpers.
Playing American Nightmare Now, Really It Has A Vibe & A Feelings Comes From Inner Side❤️❤️❤️
Preordered deluxe edition… patiently waiting for the sequel of one of my all time favourite games. Can’t wait !
Cant wait for Control 2
Awesome! Keep this mystery going! Conclude it as well at some point too though please
Remedy needs to make a new Max Payne in all of it's glory.
They can't make a new one, Rockstar have the franchise now :(
Sam Lake is aging better than Max Payne who he played lol
One of my favorites moments and game is when we discover this connection of FBC and Alan Wake, which means that Caldron Lake its a place of power(?) And also when we discover that therapist from first game was captured by FBC...now he is something else
Control is amazing!
Remedy Connected Universe?
So Jesse Faden opens up a portal in the astral plane with the help of Polaris and sees her doppelganger Beth Wilder stuck in time.
Quamtum Break isn't part of the RCU.
yet@@b.u.l.1734
@@crumbsNbassno it's not yet they can't have it be apart cause quantum break is a Microsoft license game
I’m still hoping for a reference or maybe a cameo from Shawn Ashmore! Even if he’s playing a different role.
@@TheAndrewJohnBennett Shawn will be in AW2 as a character named Tim Breaker.
Looking forward to this 🥰
If everything is connected they should do a multi platform re-release of Quantum break
They said in the video that only control and the Alan Wake games are connected
@@cj3670 ahhh. I've seen other people say as well as seen thumbnails showing quantum break was also in the same universe.
@@jinuouslopez9069I wish it was but since it's a Microsoft license game remedy doesn't own the game sadly
@@cj3670 Maybe Remedy might buy Quantum Break from Microsoft at some point, as they did with Alan Wake. Then it probably would be most likely implemented in the the RCU
RCU was a brilliant idea, it makes the remedy stories exquisite.
all we need now is for remedy to require QB time travell and Alan wake and darkness/hiss sounds epic
I'm so much more interested in the connections between control and alan wake then there own personal story's. They could take them in so many directions. Is the old house where the dark place is or could it just be a story written by Alan wake ?
Hope we see the red telephone 😂 and Jessie answers 😅
8:44 So excited to see the future of Remedy!!
This series is amazing and control was amazing game!!!
"It's happening again". Nice nod to Twin Peaks
They somehow remind me of Supergiant studio. They're game has some flaw, but you can see them improving as they make more game. Really looking for AW2 and possible CONTROL2
They need to make a quantum break 2
its great to know sam lake is a stephen king fan!
I'm so excited to CONTROL 2.
Super cool. Cant wait to play it on Steam when ever that releases
This would be a hell of an acquisition
haha loved the last joke but for real tho, control was so amazing, storytelling wise and so much fun in the gameplay, always wanted telekinesis
It's kinda odd to me how he says that games like Quantum Break aren't connected to the universe despite there being an extensive background detail in that game that basically describes many aspects of Alan Wake 2 including the mention of a spiral and a drawing of Alex Casey. Sam must be trying to downplay his writing skills or something cause there's just no way it's a coincidence.
Please do an Alex Casey game basically a Max Payne successor that would be Genius!
Anybody knows of PS5 Version Specs: graphics Settings, Features and Performance Modes? Will we get proper 120 Hz Support? 60 FPS? Balanced 40 FPS Mode + RT Effects? FSR 3 Support on Consoles?
We are so close to release, has there been no official word yet from the devs about Consoles specs?
Highly doubt 120hz. Most likely a Quality mode with raytracing, and a 60fps mode with no raytracing.
@@DecimalD_ But 120 Hz Mode could also mean Balanced Quality/Fidelity with Stable 40 FPS with VRR and Ray Tracing Toggle - similar to Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart and Spiderman! It would be a HUGE MISS if a tech-savvy company like Remedy won't offer 120 Hz / 120 FPS on Consoles especially Stable 40 FPS VRR RT HDR - this would be perfect balanced quality compromise - a big bump over 30 FPS and fit the film-noire style of gameplay and cinematics!
CAN'T WAIT ! 🤩
Love control
The guys still looks Max Payne to me.
Their approach is clearly Stephen King influenced, not Marvel, DC, Star Wars or any "connected movie universe".
Forcing completely different titles to be connected somehow sounds like Marvel and DC to me.
@@kdscool1536how the hell is it forcing? They've been at this since 2019 with control and that game didn't force Alan Wake into it
@@kdscool1536 Stephen King and Remedy are sole creators of their worlds, things are not forced, sometimes is just a mention, a location.
It's not a systematic business decision to make movies just to be part of something else that will sell, those movies work like dopamine in a social network feed, people are more concerned with the after credits scenes than on the movie itself, and they leave wanting more after credits scenes.
@@kdscool1536 Remedy has said that all of their projects after Alan Wake have started as Alan Wake 2. But as they haven't figured out how to do it, they've become something else (Quantum Break and Control). So they are definitely not as forced as you might think. Though, Quantum not being part of the universe just because they don't own the IP.
@@kdscool1536 did you even watch the video? they literally said that it's inspired by Stephen King
what’s the name of the first song playing on the background??? lol
Alan Wake 2 score/OST?
Insomniac then remedy. Spiderman then alan wake 2, man i’ve been spoiled this month 😂😂
Ya all forgot ya can see Athi in the first clip you guys shared :)
max payne is a writer now wow
Remedy are the best
Is the music playing here actually AWII music?
Is it just me or does Alan Wake 2 have a Stephen King "dark half" vibe?
El 1 también la tuvo en su tiempo, de hecho de manera textual lo indica el mismo juego en su guion.
The first Alan Wake game also had a Stephen king vibe.
Alex casey is Max payne joining FBI.
is IGN on some kind of deal with the Alan Wake team? cause they are really pumping these videos day after day.....
It’s their featured game for their “IGN First” program
Must be your first 'IGN first'😄
They are really into remedy games, Control was even their game of the year in 2019
Obviously
It's marketing push obviously.
Did everyone just forget Alan Wake's American Nightmare exists?
The only thing I’m sad about with this game. Is the fact I’m gonna finish it and won’t be able to play it for the first time again
Believe in REMEDY! believe!
An accomplished writer who writes using only two fingers...
Welcome to next gen horror survival action✌️🇫🇮
2:11 Didn't they use his face for Max Payne?
Yes. Did you watch the whole video?
We need Max Payne.
It's weird to see the face of Max Payne say that they don't control Max Payne
Please let there be a 120Hz mode on PS5 🙏
They should make a refernce of jesse faden in some capacity
At least we have Ahti
Protect Sam Lake at all costs.
to sum that all up in 10min is impossible 😂
aww so that means ill probably never see a quantum break 2 :(
So I'm guessing Alan Wake's American Nightmare is not canon to the RCU?
It might be a bit of its own thing. It wasn't even included in the AW Remastered
American nightmare is canon but not really essential...American nightmare is alluded to be alans first attempt at writing return. but he didnt fully go through the heros journey
Opino que si es canon, de hecho en el trailer en unas partes Alan sale con la camisa de American Nightmare, pero quien sabe, en el juego se verá.
2:48 Comparing the FBC to the X-Files instead of the SCP foundation is a sin.
Sad, what Max Payne doesn't connected in RCU, because Rockstar take him (Sorry for my English)
Too bad Quantum Break isn't considered part of the Remedy universe...
I'd love to play this sequel but its digital only
really seriously bro? no one cares
Soon all games will be digital only. Will you stop playing new games?
Hope they won't take 13 years again for the next alan wake.
That is Max Payne
But really need quantum break 2
Maaaaan yes we do
Not gonna happen since it's Microsoft property and I'm sure Remedy can do just fine with current universe and characters.
Max Payne remake is a priority for me.
Steam release please
My man Sam Lake has that hole in the elbow of his jacket. No biggie, but I’m weird for noticin’ it.
Control was epic because it was like the TV series Fringe. Alan wake was too strange for me.
Let's be honest, Sam lake is a much better game designer than Kojima ever will be.
They're both goated
How is Max Payne not in the RCU? He's clearing answering the interview.
He is. Just renamed as Alex Casey
Because like he said it's not their IP anymore as Take Two bought it 20 years ago
Alex Casey game. Please
Encontrar todos las páginas del libro 📕📖 si es buenísima si yo sabe leerlo muy sabía si

No Steam release :(
