+Lauren Basamot Thanks Lauren! That one is my favourite, too, plus an owl stamp I made which isn't shown in this video (see my Instagram for that one!) :)
This was a great DIY! I have a big jar of white acrylic on the way and glycerin and alcohol. Just very few stapms so far, but beginning. Watercolor is my first love but I want DIY mixed media supplies at the ready. I have so many eye shadows, blushes and cream pigments I am going to mix them together to get a permaneent "ink" Also gum arabic so many of my old things will become watercolors! Thanks!
That will be a great experiment - mixing the make-up pigments to make the colour supplies. Will you be making a video about it? For me it was a case of just using the containers rather than the make-up pigments. I wouldn't advise using acrylic - it can't be reactivated once dry, so your stamp pads will not stay moist. That's why I used gouache as it's basically a more pigmented version of watercolours.
Oh! I meant stamping textures with acrylic paint! I am getting alcohol dyes very soon, along with supplies for making my own gesso and texture paste. The experiments will go on top of that, and sealed with a fixative if needed. I wish, but I no longer make videos, my life changed and I am not set up for it. I am very much an avid RUclipsr anyway and comment to creators who really `maake me wow, or do something that really inspires
sorry to be offtopic but does anybody know a tool to log back into an instagram account? I was dumb forgot my password. I love any tips you can give me
@Trace Brentley Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site thru google and im in the hacking process now. Takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Actually,, according to the video you used both though it was just a couple of drops of the glycerin. The glycerin makes sense to keep the gouache from drying out. I'm curious about the makeup sponge - what kind did you use? I recently ran into trouble using a makeup sponge to blend some distress ink - there must be a reaction or something because instead of walnut stain I get a horrible shade of green, so I'm leery now and I'm not really familiar with the various kinds as I've always stuck with the same sponges and blenders. I thought makeup sponges were hydrophobic but a stamp pad is supposed to absorb the ink Tfs
Glycerin helps dilute the paint and keep it moist and the alcohol helps it to dry once stamped onto something. At least, I think that was the logic I was going by...
Do i need to use tgat specific gouache type paint to make the ink? Would acrylic paint or water colour paint work? Where would I buy that glycerin? In nz
Hiya, it depends what ink you use. My Stazon and pigment inks dry quite quickly and the handmade gouache one seemed to dry quickly too. However, I have a couple of Dovecraft ink pads and they never seem to dry!
I am not sure - you will have to try! I don't think acrylic would work because it dries, so it needs to be paint that is pigmented and stays moist. Watercolours neat from a tube might work.
Hi Melissa, it's a rubber stamp blank. You can usually find them online if you type in "rubber carving block". But you can actually use a regular rubber for carving too - a thrifty alternative!
Cleva Girl! The Frugal Crafter knows some pretty darned cool JunkNStuffs! This was great! The music not so much, but okay. Why don't you speak? Curious. Great work! Thank you! ~X🎨💨X~
The glycerine can help stop watercolour paints from cracking too much when you pour them into pans. However, it's not always necessary. You have to experiment and see :)
Not sure how helpful it would be adding to already dried paints - for the method I'm talking about you add it to wet paint from a tube when you first put it into a palette... :) Let me know if it works though!

Hi I don't understand what is GOUACHE can you please show it, you did with the glicerin and alcohol but not the paint tube thank you so much. I love the video and the cute stealing cat!!!
Hi Nina, gouache is a waterbased painting medium, natural pigments are bound with gum arabic. Its called gouache in all lenguages i know(spanish, german, french, portuguese, russian...) with excepcion of italian where it is called guazzo. You find gouache in all art and craft supply places.
@@gatoniebla4900 Thank you so much for your time and help have an excellent week! You have an interest name! I'm fluent in Spanish well I can say Castellano is more correct but most people don't know. Also I speak Italian but little rusty hahaha! Chau......
OK, but I need one that has fine lines, very fine, and just the lines print. Tried the carving type, and not even close to what I need. I need different stamps with loads of detail, and can't afford to buy that many, not with the detail I need anyway. My search goes on.
Hi Theo, I prefer to carve with a craft knife for details. You might like to try a reverse method though - why not attach something like smooth string or wire to a base, and then you are guaranteed that only the lines print? Or you could try drawing into clay and printing with it when dry? It depends what sort of design you want to achieve.
The v shaped cuticle cutters in nail kits work amazing for carving stamps .
Good tip!
The lid-stealing cat was the best part!
Thank you so much. I had always known to make my own stamps, But Stamp pads too! Wow!
Glad you liked it!
@@designsofluid8308 is this inkpad dry in one week

Haha, your cat is the cutest pet ever

The stamps look so pretty
. So creative and artistic .
I like the strawberry stamp the best .🍓

Looks fab! I'll try find my Stanley knife and have a go at making my little stamps with this method

Cute cat!! this was such a helpful tutorial!!!
Kitsu likes to help me with my videos... she thinks she is the star... which she totally is :)
I also have clepto kitties!
Very good ideas. Thank you.
loved this video...and your cat...👌🏻👌🏻😍😍🙂...nice ideas
Thanks Nitya! Kitsu is a darling, she always wants to 'help' ;)
Good tutorial, good kitty
Hehe thanks! Is that your kitty in your profile picture? Looks adorable!
Beret Nice yes, her name is Halley.
Thank you. This so solved my problem.
oh thank you for that i have tried to do that for ages
You're welcome, have fun!
What cutting tool are you using
Any alternative of rubbing alcohol?
Hi! Can you use acrylics instead of the guash?
Is there any substitute for glycerin?
I thank you for your video. I want to ask you if the ink pad will be dry or if it is like a real ink pad that is always wet. Thank you!!!
What can be used as substitute if glycerine is not on hand? 😊 Thanks!
Hi, it was rubbing alcohol, not glycerin. Zest-it would work (any substance that you use to blend colour pencils). Haven't tried any other solutions.

Hand gel sanitiser
Fascinating!
Whats Is gouache?
Where did u get those large rubbers??
Gorgeous and funny.😯
Wow, so cool.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for the video!! May i know why to add glycerin and rubbing alcohol please?
Glycerin helps dilute the paint and keep it moist and the alcohol helps it to dry once stamped onto something. At least, I think that was the logic I was going by...
Hey! What is the best stamp pad material for solvent based inks? Like StazOn
Gracias por compartir, que tipo de goma, placa es??
Doesnt 90 percent alcholo.work.better?
Hi, what is the purpose of putting rubbing alcohol on the pads?
making your own ink pad is quite a money saver!
It's certainly a fun thing to try if you have the supplies lying around!
What a nosy kitty..lol~~cc
Indeed she is! But she just loves to "help" ;)
Do i need to use tgat specific gouache type paint to make the ink? Would acrylic paint or water colour paint work? Where would I buy that glycerin? In nz
Acrylic would not work as it dries solid, but watercolour might work!
Hi! I have a quick question. How long do these ink pads usually last?
It was useful thank you..!!!
How long do the ink pads last? Is there anything you have to do to prep them for use later on?
To be honest I forgot to check it and I think I chucked it out when I had a clear-out, whoops!
what did u carve on?
I used a rubber carving block, but you can use a regular rubber too if you have one spare.
You can use erasers for dollar store
Nice
will these ink work for polymer stamps as well?
I am not sure!
What did you trace with that transferred so well?
It was literally just tracing paper but I used a soft pencil (i.e. 4b or 6b, the darker the better).
Thanks
Cat stole the show!
She always does, she's a superstar :D
great video ..and love cat part :)))
Is the result on paper moist ???

Its good or not because its very difficult
I just like the fun of making and trying these things :)
I love your work..where do you get the carving foam????
I think I got it from an online craft shop.
where do you get the stamp blank? Is it a soft wood? or rubber? tfs!

amazing video! love how the stamps came out! but why you added the glicerine? what does it do? :D
The glycerine can help stop watercolour paints from cracking too much when you pour them into pans. However, it's not always necessary. You have to experiment and see :)
ohhh good to know! i've some old watercolors that are a bit cracked up, I could try that thanks!
Not sure how helpful it would be adding to already dried paints - for the method I'm talking about you add it to wet paint from a tube when you first put it into a palette... :) Let me know if it works though!
ohhhh alright! I will! thanks! :D
How about using hot glue gun following pattern? Is it work??
To make a stamp? It could work, but when dry the glue is shiny, so it won't hold the ink as well. The result might therefore be patchy.
What are you carving on?
What is it called?
great video

No, as it is made with water-soluble paint.
