There's no way Fitts' identity could have been much of a mystery in the anime (or the manga) without a major change to "his" design. Anyone with eyes will look at Fitts and say "Isn't that Sylphie?" You can get away with not "showing" Fitts in a novel. You can't in a visual medium.
Since you can't hide it, embrace it. Given the length of time since they've seen each other, Sylphie's physical changes, and all the crazy stuff that's happened to Rudy, you can handwave Rudy not recognizing her in a way you can't for the audience, so the basic storyline can remain the same. In addition, you can let the audience in on it and get to show Sylphie's (and by extension Ariel's and Luke's) perspective on their budding re-relationship while it's happening instead of only a bit before the reveal.

Being someone who was convinced who Fitz was after seeing the end of Season 1, was thrown off the scent a bit when I read the Side Story of Fitz being greeted outside Ariel's room. All it really takes is causing a separation. Simply have regular scenes of a cap wearing Sylphie heading out for morning jogs, passing by Fitz and greeting them.

Hands down one of the best animes I have ever watched. It has an adult theme, which is not your normal watch. The struggles are relatable, and the character connections are ongoing. When you can love and laugh at a character and hate them and then fall back and love them speaks volumes.

I had my doubts with how shaky the first few episodes were, but I'm genuinely glad it managed to right the ship and keep me invested, engaged, and wanting more. S1 was simply just too high a bar to match, but even with the production issues, this 1st cour still managed to be amazing with how it handles its characters and subjects in a raw but profound way. It's kinda funny when I hear people say that it's too self insert, too melodramatic, or presenting too much convenience....when it's mostly been the complete opposite.
Easily one of the best things from this year imho, and I cant wait for Cour 2 next year!

Being an anime only viewer (who's also made aware of spoilers because I'm one of those who enjoys the journey more than the outcome), your main criticisms about the university setting and lack of inner monologue is something worth addressing. Usually a lot of "missed" content I leave it as "well, the anime shouldn't tell you everything, and should be left to viewer interpretation". Such as Sara's feelings towards Rudy when he wasn't able to fulfill his... "Duty".
However you mentioning Rudy's inner thoughts about his previous school life in comparison to the current one went well over my head. Rarely did I ever sit down to make the comparison aside from thinking "Yeah, his school life sucked before". I didn't even think about it when Cliff was being ganged up on, and only thought about it in passing when Rudy met Nanahoshi.
I think if there isn't any inner thoughts about it, a visual representation would have gone a long way. Such as when Rudy first left his house, and you briefly had a glimpse of the school gates that traumatized him.
I think as far as showing, they did a good job displaying the facial animations, or background settings. Especially when those background settings had something to do with the little guy down stairs. It's just a shame that there wasn't any sort of visual representation of his past life aside from his inner voice

A great example of the bully aspect is Golliade finding him with the pantsu. He literally fears being drug away and tied up again after Golliade claimed she'd interrogate him. He ends up rooting himself to the ground with earth magic in terror. Something Fitz actually notices. She seen the same leg-shaking boy that once chased off bullies surrounding her in Buena Village.
The gates representing rudeus seeing a barrier as he left his yard was completely anime original BUT was a great visual representation of his fear.

In my opinion he actually is kinda op with his massive mana pool, silent casting, and being such a young water saint even with him having certain types of magic he can’t do yet he is extremely strong and capable but with his personality being so self destructive for so much of the series it balances it out very nicely oh and honestly my favorite episode is when he meets silent six and they start talking in Japanese and she mentions to fits/sylphi they come from the same homeland leaving her confused I sincerely hope they have Rudy at some point explain all of it to sylphie in part 2

5:44 nah I'm sorry but in the LN by this point you already know that Fitz is Sylphie as we already have a picture of the character, there's no doubt about it, except for the scene where Sylphie refers to someone else (luke?) as Fitz. The mystery of Fitz was great when we were getting the side stories that were not adapted in the anime, like when they fled Asura or when Fitz defeats Linia and Pursena.

Even though Rudeus is very strong in this world, he is not OP in the sense that he is the strongest character around. The fact that the anime deals with his strength and proficiency in magic, it is never a focus on the story lines. That alone sets it aside for most Isekai. His relationships with the characters and the story itself is what makes it so good.

    hey, I'm here 1st.
I started as an Anime only. I have actually gotten caught up in the manga and LN. I read because of your cut content videos. I will say that as an anime only the anime still stands pretty well on its own. The shortcomings mostly come from people trying to inject themselves and their ideals into the story of Rudy OR from people that feel like every single episode has to have some huge battle or a love scene in it. To many people cant handle a slow burn story or actual world building and character development at the cost of nonstop action. They also cant handle having uncomfortable content shoved right in their faces. I for one fine the story mostly relatable because the characters have reals struggles and flaws, even if there is magic and dragons. while I get that skipped content would be a welcome inclusion, I can see why much was sacrificed for pacing or to keep the story on track so as to make it not feel like its all filler arcs, like some shows are.

Wold be fun to run the experiment on some Mushoku virgins.
Than again visual medium consumers are not usually that good with delayed exposition. That is why mystery novels don’t often translate to live medium. Think Agatha Christie. Scoobie doo mysteries get very cheesy but we’re comics from the start. . Narrative and visual clues work differently.

My biggest issue with Season 2 is how the University arc felt like a visual downgrade from the first few episodes of Season 2. The shots are bland, animation is stiff, and it felt like Rudeus' personal conflicts were ignored more than they should have been. I think the biggest offender of this was his "fight" with the demon king, where Rudeus was stock still for his entire casting.
Don't get me wrong, I still like Season 2. But really, I don't know if it was worth getting it so soon, or even if more time in the oven would have given it the edge it needed. I want those awesome camera angles back! But whatever, I'm still excited for Season 2's second cour. Hopefully sicker and epicer than the first.

The sarah arc was fine but I never really got to know counter arrow. I dont think we will ever see them again in the story so i guess it fine
Soldat was not built up. When rudy was beating him up in the bar mimicing his emotional moment with paul. It just fell flat. I didnt feel that rudy and soldat were close. Soldat was just there and then come next episode they are buddy buddy?
Zanoba and julie's relationship i feel like was not built well. Badigadi was there but i dont feel like he was set up at all. All the new character editions just fell flat for me.
For the main heart of this part. i did like what happened between rudy and sylphy was good. Although hearing the cut content from the books that you have made it feels like it could have been deeper.
Overall season 2 part 1 has been a letdown from season 1. i hope part 2 will suck me back into the anime. if part 2 also falls flat for me ill just read the light novel.

I haven't read the books, but season two disappointed me. It introduced a lot of characters, a lot of plots, and I know they are important to the plot and ML, but their plots were almost completely ignored. Soldat promised to be interesting and it would have been a fascinating episode or two to see Rudy on some sort of expedition with his team. Show, don't tell. The anime told us they were buddies, but didn't show us how the bond developed. The super awesome Demon King Badigadi shows up, has a great entrance and does nothing for the rest of the season but sit at the dining room table. So many great characters, and each appears for practically one episode. Absolutely, totally wasted potential. I have no problem with the fact that Rudy's problem was shown, but I do have a problem with the fact that the WHOLE action of the season revolved around that to the exclusion of everything else. They turned MT into a boring romance. Proportions, people, and balance.

Season 1 - "-Literally the best isekai ever!"
Season 2 (Part 1) - "-Probably the worst isekai I saw...if we take out the Volume 7 anime adaptation from it...Why?...because of the skipped content...also...why we should care about Zanoba, the cat/dog girls, the girl bought to make stone figurines etc....and also I liked the first season for the mature themes and the way they handle them...but here in Season 2...it was just way too much ED (I liked that it was there...but for a series that I think it is supposed to be just 4 to 5 seasons max...this is just cringe."
