those warning shots where fired to warn them to turn away. they didnt turn away. the warning shots then turned into fuck you shots without pause between the two.
So much advantage for these guys. 1. Higher ground 2. Steadier ship 3. Element of surprise 4. They can spread across the side of the ship 5. Radar so the pirates can't sneak up with another small ship Now Imagine being the pirate in a wobbly boat, trying to shoot some guy in an unknown location on a big ship that's already got a steady aim on you from an elevated position.
Hahaha ik right. But on their part they didnt even have time for warning shots by the time the guys said that they were already heading towards his ship so id do the same thing if i was him
npadul30 most of these people are ex-military, all pmc, or psc operators requir you are. they do this for extra cash, and to defend people who have no more thatn a flare gun while the pirates have ak-47s and rpks and even rpgs
thats what i`m saying, 3 dollars an day lol its not worth the thousands you pay for the rifles, equitment, liscences and the trip to the location only to make between 12 and 100 dollars
Nope, they killed pirates just like this all the time. Sometimes you can't board a ship and have to sink it, almost always killing everyone on board when done. The pirates flag means No surrender, No quarter. In other words, fight to the death and take no prisoners. However, since respective Navies didn't follow this code there were captures of pirates from time to time.
No, there is a difference. Mercenaries are goons. Guns for hire. However, Private Security Contractors protect goods and people and when presented with a threat they eliminate it. Refer to blackwater circa 2004, that's a mercenary.
I think you missed mine. You're all in favor of piracy as a hanging offense. I'm saying that is much too civilized. You might agree with me regarding on the spot justice but your entry wasn't clear to me.
The piracy began. after the Somalian govt fell & the country went into anarchy. Their coast guard disappeared so large fishing trawlers depleted their fishing stock leaving the people to starve. Adding insult to injury ships would dump toxic waste on their shores. The fishermen now deprived of a livelihood took to piracy to sustain themselves & their families. The maritime industries greed brought this piracy on themselves.
"After the somalian government fell" So maritime companies over threw a country? i think your libtarded ideas are just clouding your mind. Stop hating on the rich just bc your not rich... -.- damn fool
I'm an Air Force vet, there's no warning shots, blow their ass out of the water. Cap Philips had no options, with these punk ass Somali POS, and we dropped an Atomic bomb on Hiroshima?,
I dont know about other countries but here in Denmark we got an Security Academy (Danish Security Academy - aka DSA) which allow you to work as pretty much any type of security avalible. Also the Danish Army recruited people from the Home Guard to be trained by the Huntsmen Corp (Danish elite foces) to escort and protect VIPs in Iraq - the group was called "Protection Team" I dont know if they still train for it since we pulled out of Iraq some while ago
Um no...They fired two warning shots. They received return fire...Then they opened up. You probably wouldn't notice it because you've never been in a combat situation or fired at.
Shedio Just assumed...Just something that sticks in your head and you never forget that sound. I'm guessing I assumed wrong, but I'm glad you're here to correct me. Means you've heard that sound and are here to talk about it.
I see nothing wrong with what happened. As soon as the contractors fired warning shots the pirates started shooting back and the pirates ended up getting slaughtered. Good shoot in my opinion
I fucking know right, I dont know why theres so much controversy over this video. They are protecting good against an armed threat coming towards them.
+Geehad He said "warning shots"... Didnt give a number... Had he said "three warning shots", then he should have followed orders and fired three warning shots.
As soon as he said that you can hear the crack of incoming rounds from the pirates as their bullets break the sound barrier flying past the contractors. That is how you can tell incoming and outgoing rounds in combat, so once those rounds started coming in they just unloaded on them like they should have.
For those commenting how he said "Go ahead, warning shots", that was immediately canceled, and turned into shoot to kill. It's hard to tell/see in the video as it is such a low resolution, but the pirates immediately opened fire on them. That's why they also didn't say anything to each other about shooting at them instead of warning shots. Soon as the pirates shot at them, nothing needs to be said, they know they need to eliminate the threat. Since you are unable to see the pirates open fire on them due to the low resolution video, you can hear it very clearly. It will be the loud snapping sound. That is the bullets from the pirates impacting around them. It would sound completely different if it wasn't close to them.
uhm...i think only the first one was a warning shot...you can here some incoming snaps and after that they unload...their boat crashed that hard into the ship because the driver got hit i think...i actually doubt that there where many left on that boat...
Every cargo ship should have an armed security detail. Like someone posted earlier, most of these so called mercenaries are former military, so they are trained on how to handle situations such as this and would save the shipping companies tons of money! I would like to see the ships armed with a little more firepower than M16s though. Maybe a couple mounted 50 cals and M249 saws. And who was the rocket scientist that threw up the wooden pallets for cover???? Those wouldn't stop a 22 cal bullet! MORE SAND BAGS!!!!
agree with the M16 comment. I think .308 rounds going down range would have more effect and you could start firing farther out. .223 rounds make sense if you're carrying your ammo with you all day on patrol, but in a static situation weight isn't as important as results. That said, the M16s were effective.
Adam Kraabel M14 = more recoil which is less accurate follow up shots. Notice how this guys AR barely even moved and he was able to keep most rounds on target? That's the advantage. The M14 is harder to control under rapid fire and it becomes even harder when you're being shot back. Not only that but aiming at a boat in the water is probably a hard task as it is.
marinette fan right because if those Pirates enter the boat they're gunna come shake your hand & ask to trade goods. These are ruthless killers on the high seas, and they take innocent lives holding them hostage. So ya someone has to take out the evil in the world. You sitting there doing nothing isn't gunna help at all!
marinette fan They were the ones who shot first. You can clearly hear the bullets hitting the ship. It's an extremely dangerous situation that needs to be dealt with as quickly as possible. Somalian Pirating has been a problem for innocent fisherman / transports for years now.
Personally, I'm all about going way beyond what is necessary. I think that ships traveling close to the Somalian Waters should have 50 caliber machine guns, and RPG launchers on board. And depth charges!!
Ubermarine As I said, I believe in going beyond what is necessary. An depth cheage set at 16 feet would have put all of those tiny boats that the pirateers were using under water. According to the data from the Vietnam war era, 1962 - 1973.

All these hijackings are a direct result of the ban on weapons in European ports. It was only a matter of time before the pirates learned all those ships were defenseless.
Firing warning shots when the pirates are that close to the ship seems to be a liability. I get it when they'd still be further away, but shouldn't you shoot to kill when they are already that close? At that range, they can already pose a threat to the safety of the ship and its crew.
I think it's up to the individual in charge, when Somali pirates 1st became a thing nobody took them seriously only when they got better funding and newer technologies did people begin to take them seriously. In this video I suppose the man in charge could tell that these pirates didn't have "nice things" and were relatively inexperienced because warning shots weren't fired until they were damn near on the ship lol he had ample opportunity to fire before hand but he chose not to.
Kinda spooky how you can slowly see em coming up on the ship! Man I bet being on these ships has to be a stressful experience over those waters. I would definately hire a bunch of ex American military nuts to handle security and feed em steak every night!
After reading all the comments I can say Somalians don't watch RUclips. Send Trump to negotiate with them. They'll pay cash to make him go away. Win/Win.

those warning shots where fired to warn them to turn away. they didnt turn away. the warning shots then turned into fuck you shots without pause between the two.
dude you can literally see all the shots landing in the water like the first half mag
And thats why no ship with contractors on it has ever been hijacked
This also why no oil well or plantation has been touched with contractors defending it.
Because there are no civilians left alive.

Those snaps was first of all the the explosion of the charge in the bullet, then the report of the rifle

What about the next ship that comes along? What if they don't have guards?
Those were quite the warning shots.......

Cover and concealment are two different things.
If you noticed, the fly bridge does have sand bags. The rest is just for concealment.
agree with the M16 comment. I think .308 rounds going down range would have more effect and you could start firing farther out. .223 rounds make sense if you're carrying your ammo with you all day on patrol, but in a static situation weight isn't as important as results.
