I've always thought the way to make the pirates leave everyone alone would be to have a covert, extremely heavily armed shipping vessel, with a manifest of extremely valuable cargo sail around the area a lot. Periodically repaint/flag/name/modify the exterior of the vessel as camouflage., ..... Exterminate any attackers, after a while, and with enough pirates not returning home, the cost/benefit analysis on being a pirate becomes too costly.
These are amongst the poorest people on earth - they are just trying to feed their families in the middle of a war zone. And in the great majority of cases they haven't been violent towards crews. Fight them off, for sure. but there's no need for extra-judicial murder. Killing people is rarely the answer to anything - it just deprives kids of their fathers and builds hatreds.
Gonna have agree. Mother ships aren't cheap. A couple go missing and the sharks start following them around, the tactics will change. Granted they'd are just hired goons, by warlords. But hey. Black guns matter.

How is it good there was "no confrontation"? more pirate scum lived. Russians have the right idea, sink the ships, kill the survivors. Make sure they can't attack anyone again.
You can argue argue all day about all the aspects, intricacies, and nuances of meeting piracy with force. All I know is that this would have been a perfect opportunity to rotate the phone and shoot horizontal video.
There are some very tough laws prohibiting sailors and private vessels to be armed . The pirates own their existence to such laws. It does not take a lot of arms and training to make illegal boarding a ship a suicide mission.
What exactly is the point of such laws? Is it just one of the things where it's supposed to allow prosecution of pirates but in reality it only serves to benefit them because they are the ones willing to break the law?

The pirates are starting to realize ships are tremendously more dangerous to steal when small bits of lead are rapidly trying to strike you
It is very strange that after all these years, that shipping industries already bringing Armed Guards onboard, yet pirates still try their luck, but this time they luck runs out, a merchant ship with Machine Guns installed on both side of the ship, no wonder, upon seeing those Guns they just pass by. Cheers to the Armed protector at Sea.
Keep killing pirates and you will wake them up to the fact that if you attack a ship, you will die.
Quite agree. They are only from Somalia.
They aren't a problem there now, most are coming to UK in dinghies to Dover. Piracy was how they paid their way over to Calais.
@@GWAYGWAY1 How westopped the Germans from invading, and we cant stop a few rubber boats. Drive over them.

Theres a reason pirates were historically killed on site. Anyone congratulating these folks for scaring them off without firing at them just condoned whatever they do to the next boat they target without adequate defenses.
Anyone who can say they deserved to be fired at for driving a boat in international waters needs prison!
what attack, a sortie, but what happened to the other ship on port side approx.. `5 deg?
Does anybody have any idea what this ship might be carrying?
Allowing any enemy combatants to live is a mistake.
That's why they keep doing it. They know no one's gonna shoot. I guarantee you if everyone just started ripping these guys to shreds if they got any sort of close, it would stop
If they kill pirate, no more job for them as security for hire coz no more pirate
My guess is that they are dutch marines. This approach seems somewhat uneffective. Just hide and have a shootout. Sadly these pirates were a generation ago fishermen. But they were put out of bussiness by overfishing by dutch mega fishing boats.
@Sheila Walker Likely whenever you open your mouth people roll their eyes but you never notice. I’m the type that would play along for my own amusement. Let’s say those that wish to do you harm instead just for a little hairsplitter like you. 👍🏻

Wow, I started watching this video and I was like, "Where are these armed guards the title was talking about, this must be clickbait", but then all of a sudden I noticed it, a small peculiar movement in the brush, on the deck of the ship! I was like, "wait a minute! That isn't foliage on the deck of this ship, those are the GUARDS!!!!!". Such a brilliant and skillful use of camouflages! So effective!
Too funny😅
Funny, and your right they should be wearing slate gray if camo was the objective. But they are wearing the anti-camoflauge so they stick out as armed military for the pirates to clearly see them and be deterred.

@hanikrummi hundursvin You're totally right! It worked here. I didn't see them until the very last minute. Crazy!

The presence of high-powered guns on your Ship is enough to deter the attack of this pirates plus those Armed Guards roaming around the Ship. Cheers to the gallant effort of the protectors of the sea. Armed really safe lives.
I'm an Irishman, ex BAF three combat tours amongst many other combat drops, we've protected ships and retaken them, Somalian pirates are no joke, they've got their tactics down well it's just ours is better, one unit of us is enough and would nullify any threats, By Strength and Guile is how we do it 🇮🇪🤝🇬🇧
seems to me ireland/ the uk ARE somalia LOLOLOL
love it when the camera is held the wrong way the whole time
What I like is the camo on a boat in the water lol
Yeah, I think it's safe to say horizontal filming is the way to go when surrounded by a horizontal horizon in every direction.
And nothing even happens.

I’m surprised by the lack of early warning shots 😅
I still don’t understand how we went from heavily armed merchant ships to being escorted to port by a destroyer for having a Glock on board
It amazing how more ships don’t have armed security on board in these waters
Not as many these days
They should have hid the guards and had them come out guns a blazing once the skinnies started scuttling the ship. That way you could eliminate the risk of them attacking future vessels.
Wasn't there some bogus international laws that made it illegal to have armed guards in ships even in dangerous areas such as this?
I know right, fuck give me gun and ammo, and I'll gladly help out in defending those ships.
Joe Friday m
A failure, left those pirates to wreck havoc somewhere else, the armed security should be hidden until can launch a suprise attack on the pirates
This was clearly not a military mission. Prevention by deterring was the aim here and it was successful apparently.
The mission was to protect the ship! Posturing, etc to prevent any chance of damage to vessel or personnel with direct action being last resort!
Also, unlike pirates & terrorists these guys are bound by maritime law, international law, Geneva convention etc.
If they were "attacked" then they would absolutely have "green light" to engage & defend themselves & the ship! Also, sounds like a Coalition Warship was nearby meaning witnesses but also backup!!!
Bet some of those armed guards were disappointed that they didn't get to fire warning shots at least 😅
I want to start a cruise line. Get the out of service cruise ship and go on a "Pirate" cruise. Of course the price will be very high. But not only will the meals etc be furnished...but the weapons and ammo will also be furnished. Marines' shorts and relaxed clothing because they are "off duty" unless a situation like this arises.
The biggest crime committed was wasting so many minutes of my life without a shot being fired.

Pirates retreat when upon seeing trees and shrubs moving around on the ship, and being extremely superstitious, it was considered a bad omen. Successful tactical planning by the A Team!

Take good care always. May God continue to watch over every seafarer's and keep them safe from any harm.
You never hear about pirates holding ships for ransom anymore. I wonder why.
Reminded of service duty SOP, hurry up, wait, nap, and then shut happens, repeat. Looks kind of fun. But also a bit hard to blame the pirates knowing how corporate fishing is basically took away their livelihood.
I watched “Captain Phillips” movie where they didn’t have armed guards on board. As a consequence of that STUPID policy, the entire crew was put at risk, the Captain was kidnapped and massive mega-expensive resources of deployed warships had to be used to arrange his safe return.
So does this clip mean that the shipping world has wised up?

Dutch Marines in this case, but there are also several private companies offering this service to ships in that region.
The right to armed defense against piracy at sea is well-established in international maritime law, but it is sad that this seems to be the only way to effectively deter this activity.
Imagine being so driven by poverty that this is the only way you can try and earn a subsistence. That said, a credible threat of force is necessary to stop these pirates.
If cruise ships had gorgeous men wielding weapons, it'd be a vacation consideration.

@Tictac Pattywack Good! Destroy all pirates. Deterrence is not enough. They need to be destroyed.
It's great there was NO confrontation. The title is purposely misleading. The most interesting part of the entire bouncing, wobbly video was the dolphins swimming by in the last minute.
How is it good there was "no confrontation"? more pirate scum lived. Russians have the right idea, sink the ships, kill the survivors. Make sure they can't attack anyone again.
Best thing that happened at the end of the day is everyone is safe
Armed Guards really changed the mind after seeing those machine guns.
A solution could also be permanent Predator cover: any vessel launching skiffs and/or any skiff getting too close to a vessel will be sunk.
Well there goes my dream of operating pirate hunting cruises for wealthy hunters. Bet the pirates don't obey those laws.
