  • Call me old fashion, but I can recall when people with integrity made a deal...it was a deal.
This is the story of getting burned on the purchase of a 1991 Honda Civic Si.
Ironically, at the time of this video being published, the car is still listed for sale in Waukesha, WI on Facebook Marketplace.

I admire you for not slamming this kid worse......I'd probably mentioned his name and where he lived.

I think the same. Actually I recently bought a car (quite rare manual gearbox 2001 Audi S8 in racing green) and agreed a price with the seller. I was going to meet up with him again on the weekend to do the paperwork and collect the car. Well, he didn't want a deposit and I was quite worried as the weekend arrived that he will sell the car to another seller. At the end he was just an honorable man just like me and the deal went through, which was quite shocking in the times we live in. I have done many trips to check out cars that were not accurately represented, scammers, etc.

Thanks, love the channel, like 2Vintage (Wautoma, WI), always a learning moment. Watchjrgo had a similar experience trying to buy classic Beretta (didn't know there was such a thing)

Very similar situation happened to me years back when I used to buy and sell motorcycles. Communicating with the seller almost all the way there until we arrive 3 states later.... and then he just ghosted us.
I'm in the Milwaukee area. If you ever have a deal out here again I can do a PPI for you If the deal falls through we shake him down lol

Don't worry...It happened to many of us, including me while trying to buy a 1987 BMW M6...But as you said, there was a good ending for me....I bought a much more interesting 1985 BMW M635CSi soon after, like yours !!😉

I had a brand new 1986 CRX si and really miss that car. Fuel injected, black and a 5 speed manual transmission.

I would love to find an 86 CRX. Cool that you had one brand new!

What an absolute bummer. I tell you what though, its a testament to YOUR integrity and character that your reaction was much better than a lot of us (i.e. you didn't egg the Audi and the other cars he had for sale)! Well I'm in Kansas City if you ever need any help here (even if its just to spy on the car to make sure its still there)!

Ffffff... that blows goats. I've never had it that bad. But between cars and car parts, it happens. Longest trip like that was 4 hours for a suzuki samurai, I left at 4AM only to watch a guy from 12 hours away reversing his trailer into the driveway.

Nothing will set me off worse than a person not keeping their word.
The days of a handshake or someone’s verbal agreement is not quite gone but….screw ‘em.
I wasn’t raised to dishonor my good name and character.

I prefer the kid oversold the car, which wasn't in the condition he described, rather than not keeping his word. Sorry that it happened, but it did make for a good story.

Love you attention to detail with your videos chum!
As a matter of interest what would be the rough value of a 917 Porsche Recreation like yours cost? I know the originals are around 16 to 20+ Million.
