    You actually don't even need to even go to a station at the ass end of nowhere for that.
    Just look up a settlement in "civil unrest" state from the system map: Those are powered down and on fire.
    Settlements in "lockdown" are powered down with no fires.
    Settlements in "outbreak" seem to also be powered down with no fires.

    Great video! I've just discovered that if you do the raid missions you get to pick an entire powered base clean once you kill the 12 commandoes (easy with SRV) & 11 or so workers (its a slaughter). Just leave the power regulator to last as that seems to be the only thing that can spawn more troops in

      I dunno man, every mission I do, from collect an apple from the container to steal the underpants from the HAB to shut down the power always seems to result in me having to massacre the whole settlement.

      @@keithw4920 some of the missions are pretty hard because if you get scanned you're pretty much screwed & it may fail the mission, but they can be done stealthily with patience.
      I have found if you jetpack straight up to a roof right before you get scanned, it doesn't make them mad & you can get away (am assuming this hasn't been patched)

    I've just been doing the missions. Usually picking ones with material rewards, and being a bit picky with the base type.
    You get the power regulator, can turn on the power for the doors, get authorisation 3 as part of the mission. Saves you a bunch of suit power and time with having access and the doors powered. The fires just require you to flick the atmosphere processing panel, but after a number of runs you learn the set locations for them in each building type. Sometimes you've got a dozen NPCs to kill (maybe 33% per mission), but you still have complete access to clear the place out out. Anything with a CMD building tends to have some real nice stuff.

    In the more than 7,000 hour's I had invested in playing ED prior to Odyssey. I've only ever utilized a Warthog stick and throttle. With it, I learned to fly a python vertically at full speed through the toast rack, and only getting minimal damage. I've learned to land on a 45G planet. I learned how to drive my Scarb as one who drives's a Forumla One. But walking around on the surface using any thing but a game pad is impossible. At the age now of 75, my muscle memory suck's, having the learning curve of my wart hog took a long time. Now I'm mandated to learn the in's and out's of a game pad.
    I can make, not that I need it having billion's and nothing to spend it on. A lot of credit's doing any and everything Horizon. But in the month whch I've returned after two year's of absence when Odyssey first became availbale and there were major issue, that have sense been fixed. Have spent almost a half billion in the learning how to play the Odyssey portion of ED. The various guard's at the jail, and I know one another on a first name bases. I lost count as to how many time's I've been incarcerated and to a degree, don't know exactly how or what I did, when I don't even have a weapon. LOL. I'm mandated to play or only go to do surface mission with my son. Who know's how to clean house and allow's me to salvage any and all.
    As I've stated in previous video's you make, you are a "GOD" when it come's to providing data. Regardless of what it cost me in time, effort and funding. I have considerably better result's even at my age, then any of the other's who provide how to video's. Don't take this the wrong way, but I believe I'm in love with you. LOL

    Your videos have helped me no end. I've just found a nice little farm for all the other resources. Head to a Mining Prospect that needs powering up, don't land near the main base. There are two buildings set away with the mining machinery, you can land right next to them. loads of cabinets including one large and a broken SRV to loot, 6 yellow boxes, 2 needing re-breach. Only 2 Npc to kill. I've been using your frameshift refresh, but from 2km and then flying back down 10km after cancelling the Frameshift. Worth a video? This is a gem.

  • @kikastg9001
    @kikastg9001 3 года назад +7

    I have found that with missions on fire you have to scan people to get access. The best farming is with a station that are not on fire, and you accept it, so you have level 3 access and do not need to turn the power on. It has twice the loot than the place on fire. If you put the power on, you can disable it again, when you are near completion, granting yourself 3 minutes of final looting, and then you can grab the power again and repeat the mission after going supercruise. Unfortunately there is a risk - if you lose connection or logout, you will lose your power regulator, but if your connection is stable, it allows you to farm opinion polls from 6+ data ports in tourist resorts that way without need for fighting, except occasional scavengers. Be careful, powering down station almost always spawns 6 commandos, so be quick and run to ship to avoid fight and for time efficiency.

    • @kikastg9001
      @kikastg9001 3 года назад

      @@ysfsim Accepting mission does nothing to the state of the station. It has three modes - powered down with or without fire and powered up. What triggers scavengers is either they are at the start of the mission and are always there if there is fire, or they will spawn additional 6 if the station was powered and gone dark. Powering up the station does not trigger dropship with scavengers.

    I did something similar, but I took the mission. I went to the settlement, broke into the power centre and put in the regulator, powered up the settlement. Immediately powered back down. Powering down takes a while, and if you're quick you can rob all the data ports before the power goes out.
    Now take off. Go into supercruise at 45 degrees, hold that course until your ship goes above 2.5km/sec, then flip over backwards and head back down to the settlement. If you've done it right you'll be coming in at the optimum angle (just above the red) and so you're out and back in faster that way.
    Once you're done robbing, leave the power regulator in place and hand the mission in.

    You’ll need
    1x Power Regulator
    2x E-Breaches
    1x SRV
    1x Maverick Suit
    1: Go to one of the Thargoid Invasion systems
    2: Go to the Abandoned Odyssey site type you want
    3: Once on surface disembark Your srv and when possible dismiss your ship
    4: Cut your way to the power core and insert the Regulator
    5: Use An e-breach on the core panel to gain access and then start power up
    6: find the authentication panel for the site, apply an e-breach to it and disable
    7: loot the place for all its worth for materials, goods & data (use the srv as a drop off to ensure maximum farming)
    8: retrieve the regulator
    9: recall ship and leave

    Wouldn't it make way easier to bring own power regulator to power up the settlement for easier door access (if you find L3 access body or disable authorization checks) and powered up data ports, then before leaving take the power regulator back? 🤔
    I also usually park my SRV somewhere in the middle of the settlement to drop off the loot and go back for more faster!

    Here's my method:
    Find a settlement controlled by a faction with the Anarchy government; you won't incur any sanctions or lose reputation; a favorite target of mine is the Eurybia Blue Mafia, because, well, they're the fucking mafia. Make sure you engage them with a Scorpion SRV (I haven't tried the Scarab, but I assume it's too flimsy for sustained combat with soldiers, even though it's weaponry has to be more accurate than that fucking minigun on the Scorpion), and have enough materials for repairs and ammo restock. The most they'll do is send in a single wave of reinforcements using a Frontline Solutions Vulture, and that's it. Once the guards are taken care of, you can slaughter the workers (don't forget to copy a Level 3 security profile, which can also be done when the person with such a profile is dead, so you can use the terminals to locate any and all containers that are locked by a passcode; lockers that need a passcode can just be opened using the Arc Cutter on the Maverick suit), go on a "shopping spree", and farm materials. As a bonus, ships will continue landing and departing; I've found the weaponry on the Scorpion is enough to take out the shields on certain ships like the Keelback or Asp Explorer, and can outright destroy a Sidewinder, Cobra MkIII, Adder, or Hauler before they get out of range.
    Take the settlement for everything it's got, up to and including the Power Regulator (make sure you use the overcharge on your Energylink to open up a path by overcharging the ports on doors, taking advantage of charging ports, so you'll have a route out without having to waste Energy Cells). I recommend parking your SRV in the middle of the settlement so you can drop off your assets, goods, and data when your Maverick suit reaches maximum capacity. After that, you can just hop back into your SRV, head back to your ship, and either go to the nearest station to sell your materials, or find another Anarchy settlement for your next "squelching" if you're seeking to upgrade something (at the time I'm writing this, I'm trying to farm materials to upgrade my Karma AR-50 to Grade 3, mainly so I can kill people faster in High-Intensity Conflict Zones; THOSE are real moneymakers).

    Why is it important to not take the mission???

    • @MAXLD
      @MAXLD 3 года назад +2

      My advice: do take the missions and do several of them normally. You'll pick up the mats anyway when you loot the base during the mission. The most difficult stuff you need for suit/weapon engineering is, BY FAR, the different types of data you download from an active/powered base. A lot of them are stupid rare and random, making them very hard to find. Doing these settlement power up missions will get you both: looted materials and some data downloads after you power up the base with the core. And the mission rewards can also include/provide very valuable materials/data when you deliver back / complete the mission.
      Therefore, this video basically shows the method to only farm mats, for when:
      - you only want the mats to sell them for profit (no interest in engineering).
      - you only need to quickly find/stack a very specific mat that you're lacking and already have the required data for a specific engineering upgrade.

      Doesn't have to be literally on fire. It just needs to be a deactivated settlement (missions with "Restore: Prepare base for operation / Turn on power"). That means they're abandoned and offline... all loot if free to take/download and there's no penalty for shooting the only npcs/scavangers in there (you'll actually get a bonus for killing them).
      Those missions sometimes it requires only to power them up with the provided core, others you also need to take the fires out in each building. And some have scav npcs to kill, other won't.

      @@MAXLD yes thats what i understand but in the video he specifically said to look for mission with estinguish fire objectives. I'm wondering why

    • @MAXLD
      @MAXLD 3 года назад +1

      @@ericgagne1272 He didn't mean the fire aspect specifically as a requirement, he was just referring it because they're settlements with no power (at 1:19 in the video you can hear what he means in general: "a place without power so you can loot").

    Whats the point of this vid? Data is the bottleneck not random useles junk, even optical fibre or grephene will be filled 3x over before you get all the data's youl need. unless you are powering the place up to scan the dataports too, this is not worth your time for maybe 1 or 2 suit schematics or gas, everything else can be farmed much faster with other methods. Doing this is about the equivalent of trying to engineer a ship and going around collecting iron and nickel with laser mining then up trading.

    If only FDev showed this game the love so many players and creators do, this game shows no love from FDev since landing on planets... I mean who really thinks log on, log off is fun? who thinks having to do crap like jumping into super cruise over and over is fun? and for what end? Why, why can't frontier add game play to a game? why is it always a shallow loop you have to repeat over and over and over again? People often ask why people get so frustrated with Fdev and it's simple really - many of us see a game that has so much potential by things that should be fairly simple like QOL enhancements and by regularly adding things to find and explore in the galaxy and fdev simply refuses to do it, if it doesn't grind it's out and it's frustrating as hell - as much as I love Elite I am really hoping another company can look at Elite and come up with game that plays on Elites strength's and put the love into it to keep it fresh, I give up on FDev, they just are not capable, everything they do seems bare bones minimum and no love, no creativity... just grind, so very, very sad.

    It's a shame that you have to find tricks to circumvent the idiotic grind and the time spoiling this game has set up. Feels like ripping people of their time and money at the same time. It's great that quickly methods arise to get around this but that again makes it even more insane. What's the point of playing a game in an unintended way just to get around how stupid it has been made? Thx Astro for showing us how though.
