You're half right about the Saint Peter thing, but only because you're missing the secondary context to the lyrics:
"It sounds like he’s saying 'sweet Saint Peter' but he’s actually saying 'Swede Saint Peter,' which is an intentional pun. Saint Peter was also known as Simon, and so this is most likely another dig at Simon Söderberg, the former bandmate who has been the most outspoken of the former members suing Forge.
And so, much like the biblical Simon denied Jesus before the crucifixion, Söderberg has been outspoken against Forge before court.
Forge is outright telling Söderberg that if he had gone and given into his demands, that Simon would still be happily by his side “selling out” on this (arguably more radio friendly) album."
Ngl, having Jason's dad as guest has been fun. Definitely added to the reaction and to the last video too.
Also, I can't wait to hear Jason's take on Witch Image! It's gonna sound so good, I can tell. And Jennifer possibly covering of Pro Memoria, just yes! I'm so excited!
I’m thinking a pure classical guitar version with Jennifer singing of course. Got some ideas on how to arrange it but will be very different from original version. 😃

Your dad’s a lovely guy. Great reaction! I love this song. The whole Prequelle album is themed around death. It’s based around the Black Death too and came out just 2 years before covid happened. Plus with the title being a play on “prequel”? It’s proven to be quite a prophetic piece of art.
Witch image is one of my favourite songs, glad to see it not being a forgotten gem!
The chorus to this song sums up my experience with any Souls-like game.

This song reminds me of memento mori, remember you too will die. You see this on tombstones a lot from the 1700s-early 1800s "Where you stand, I once stood . Where I am , you will one day be". Live your life well because life is short and the end is inevitable.

Would love to see your Father in more. Definitely adds a nice older voice/opinion to the mix. Tobias Forge is most likely Athiest but he has hinted at in interviews that he is Agnostic. Specifically, he has said that he wants to believe or finds himself believing in a higher non-specific force. I think his spirituality is complicated and nuanced.
Atheism and Agnosticism aren't mutually exclusive, they're complementary: Theism/Atheism is the stance on the existence of God, and Gnosticism/Agnosticism is the stance on knowledge.
A Gnostic Atheist is someone who claims to KNOW there is no God, and an Agnostic Atheist is someone who is (merely) not convinced by the arguments for the existence of God.
Likewise, an Agnostic Theist is someone who believes in God, and a Gnostic Theist is someone who claims to know for sure that God exists.
@Revyl Okesh Yes I know what they all are, lol. I just don't know where he falls. His stances have been different from interview to interview. I don't even think he is quite certain. I just wanted them to be aware that he is not absolute Athiest, or doesn't seem to be.
I guess by that explanation, we’d fall into the Gnostic monotheist camp. Not only do we claim to know God exists, but we’d argue that we know God and he knows us on a deeper personal level.
@@FlameImperishable that is just as much an incomprehensible position to me (me being an agnostic atheist) as gnostic atheism, but so be it.
@@revylokesh1783 oh that's a good explanation, with that I say i'm an agnostic polytheist. I'm not going to be so arrogant as to say that I can prove that my gods exist. And i'm content to let people believe what they want as long as it doesn't hurt anyone. Oh and in the terms exiating in paganism I would describe myself as a reconstructionist heathen. Non practicing for now because I have to do a shit ton of research before i'm comfortable with that. I don't even have an altar but I do have an idea of the gods I want on that altar.

I love your Ghost reactions, and loved the Ayreon mention. One thing I partcularly liked about this one was how, despite your different views on religion with the band, you found a common ground directed at being a better person (calling out evil). Beyond the musical experience, I think such discussions really enrichen the mind. Very good stuff
This song always cheers me up and helped me through some of my worst times in my life. In a span of 5 years I lost everyone close to me, starting with my dad who slowly died of cancer, like Im glad I got into cannibal corpse at the time because the skin on his back was literally rotting away. rotting flesh has a sour smell. anyways, I digress, this song helps me cope through all of it. a nice happy song about the fact that no matter what, we all are going to die. But because of that, because death is inevitable that means life is more meaningful. More worthy of living. its been 8 years since the last family member of mine passed. only about a couple of years since ive begun to live again.
I don't know what Tobias meant by this song, but I've definitely gotten the same meaning as what you guys did. One of my favorite and endearing Ghost songs.

I haven’t heard all of his albums, he’s got a ton!! My favorites are the final experiment, human equation and the migrator albums!
@@FlameImperishable That's true, Arjen is addicted to music haha Star One is an independent project besides Ayreon and it's focuses on sci fi movies. He released recently the second album of Star One called Revel in Time, with amazing guests like Tony Martin, Steve Vai or Brittney Slayes. Talking about Ayreon, well, the most recent album is Transitus. Both are great albums ^^
It'd be really cool to see the three of you react to the whole Prequelle album with the lyrics pulled up. It's heartbreaking by the time you get to Life Eternal.
I like the perspective you have of Ghost. They do legitimately call out a lot of injustices throughout their music, especially injustice in the form of corruption in Christian churches. Personally I see myself as a Discordian with several (but by no means all) aspects of my ethical philosophy coming from LaVey. I do definitely prefer the dramatics of Satanist art, but Discordianism has many more ideas that I'd prefer to apply in my daily life fnord. Also, the shoutout of Terry was hilarious and the fact that he took it well was also really good.
With Ghost, you have to take into account that they personally are not necessarily "satanic." The band is a mock version of the Catholic Church, with the Papa Emeritus character being an anti-Pope. Tobias Forge himself is non-religious.
Ghost actually is number one on Billboard Top Current Album sales, Number two on Billboard Top 200 and has sold more physical albums than any other artist or group this year! No rock album has sold more vinyls since RHCP 1994. About the beginning. Tobias wrote that part for Meliora but id didn't fit to any of the songs. He always writes bits and pieces every day and when he makes an album he fits them together Into songs. He tries his way forward and if one bit doesn't fit for a song he tries another. Some bits are left over and saved for next project. The riff for Watcher in the sky on Impera was as an example written many many years ago but only now fitted to a song.
That’s how I do it too! I have a library of riffs/ ideas that I sometimes archive if I can’t work them into a song.

A great song.I think its their best album.Just my opinion.
Ghost is satirizing religion as an establishment. Some of most disgusting things humans have ever done to one another were done in the name of whatever God they worshiped. So yes I totally agree with you that this needs to be called out and maybe one day done away with. Jennifer mentioned Idolatry. So hopefully you can react to the song, Idolatrine soon. Pay attention to the lyrics. It's quite an underrated song in my opinion. One last thing, if you have not listened to the entire Prequel album straight through yet I strongly recommend doing that. Once I did the entire album just made way more sense.

In Atheism, I must not forget that me and my life as I know it will be no more, period, one day, and I never know when it will happen, so don't take today for granted.
Many Christians I've known often take the world and their own lives for granted because they believe them being saved means that they can just ride out their lives and focus on some place beyond here and now. They live life for some mythical heaven that more likely than anything does not exist.
This is one of numerous reasons I'm an atheist. All I have is here and now and that makes me appreciate it all the more. But to accept that I will die means letting go of the existential illusion of my individual ego identity that I use to feel like I am just some separate agent in the world rather than a part of it. My existence becomes that of the universe I bloomed out to this world from. At that point, death becomes my friend.
My former MIL used to say there was no need to care for the earth or take care of her body because Jesus was giving her a new body and a new earth. She thought dying younger from ill health was a win because she would meet Jesus sooner. There was no changing her mind, even though I think her bible addressed being good stewards.
The Bible refers to our bodies as temples that we are to keep them holy and pure. I use that as an argument that it also means keeping our bodies in good shape with healthy eating and working out like crazy in the gym! 💪
Please pleas do a reaction to a band called The Night Flight Orchestra. I just found them and am completely obsessed with them. They sound like a perfect mix of Boston and Electric Light Orchestra. The songs are so incredibly catchy, Gemini, White Jeans and Satellite and great songs by them. Give them a listen, you will not regret it.
