You are a very good teacher. I have seen many of your tutorials and you are so easy to understand because of your clear instructions . You don’t ramble on . Well done.
We learned early on not to ramble on. You only have to go back to some of our early videos and see how we've changed. They even annoy me when I watch them as we just spoke too much.
These instructions were great, thank you. I have been battling through making journal covers - now it is so easy!! Succinct explanations without the waffle!!
Beautiful! Just the directions I needed to make a fabric cover for my Bible. The ribbon closure is so pretty too. Thank you for taking the time to share.
I dont mean to be so offtopic but does any of you know of a method to log back into an instagram account?? I stupidly forgot the password. I love any tips you can offer me!
@Koa Wallace thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm in the hacking process now. Takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
That's great to hear Kristine. I would love to see a photo of your album. Perhaps you would like to share some photos on the website. I just finished my first one for my bible. I absolutely love it!!!!! I watched several videos before being brave enough to try yours. Yours is the best one. All of your instructions are very clear. Thank you so much. I'm already thinking about the next one I'm going to make.
You're a wonderful teacher! This was really easy to understand and I really appreciate it! I've been looking for something like this for a very large oversized journal and it's PERFECT!
Thank you for another clear, concise tutorial Alanda. You are an absolute star! Even I don't go wrong (unless I stray off-piste of course) when I do as you say, Bless you! Stay safe "down under" Marion in the UK.
lol, thank you for the compliment. Glad to hear you like the tutorial Marion. These are so easy to make, and I know how easy it is to go off course. :)
Cant wait to make this - you make it so straight forward thanks. Subscribed. Would like another way to tie it so thinking on that. Excited to make this
I've been looking for an easy to understand tutorial for journal covers and this one is the best. You explain things so clearly and the end product is so pretty! I'm going to give it a try as a surprise gift for my daughter 😊
Great video!! Been researching for a week on video's to find that one go to for covering Bibles and notebooks! Your video is the best one I found for ease and super cute and decorative. Glad I found your channel have several I can't wait to make. You explain the steps so easily and clearly...
Excellent Cindy, this formula will definitely work. Here is a link to the tutorial on the website, with written instructions and photos www.alandacraft.com/2016/08/14/fabric-journal-book-covers/
It really is simple Gwen. And don't forget that we have the step by step written instructions on the website. www.alandacraft.com/fabric-journal-book-covers/
We haven't tried using a hard cover, Amanda. It should still work for hard covers, I can't see why it wouldn't. We just happen to buy soft covered journals.
Thank you Janet. That was a piece of fabric we had in our stash from a few years ago. It was purchased from our local Spotlight store here in Oz and it's no longer available. It's just lovely and I wish I could get more.
I have no idea Alison, this was a piece left over from a project done years ago. I think it is something like butterflies and postage stamps. These are so easy to make and look good in almost any fabric.
Sew Nice! Do you have the information for that butterfly fabric so I could look it up and see if it is still in print and available for purchase? Thank you 🦋🌺
I love this. Will any type of batting work for this? I have some but it doesn't seem to be as flat as yours. Mine is a tad bit fluffier. Can you tell me the type you purchase please
I haven't tried it but I cant see why not Kerry. You would have to take your measurements allowing for any extra thickness. We have the methodology for measuring a journal on the website . Here is the link. www.alandacraft.com/2016/08/14/fabric-journal-book-covers/ Would love to know how it turns out.
Just what I was looking for! Paying for a nice cover it's too expensive, or at least the prettier ones are, with yout tutorial I can make one with the fabric I dessire, my only problem now It's what fabric I would choose.
Excellent, Such an great way to use up fabric from your stash so they not only look good but they are inexpensive to make. And you can personalise them for gifts for your friends.
Why do you recommend only softcover journals? I have a hardback and was hoping to make a cover for it... Is there another method to making covers for hard journals?
If your journal allows you to bend the covers backwards then you will be okay but if it doesn't then you will have a hard time trying to get the journal cover onto it.
Sorry. We purchased the fabric from our local Spotlight store here in Australia. It was for a lap quilt we made a couple of years ago so I doubt it would still be available.
The butterfly fabric is from our local Spotlight store here in Australia, but I doubt it is still available. And the fabric on the other journal is from the Moda Prints Charming range.
I can't see why you couldn't hand sew it together, Jessica I use a machine because I’m not much of a hand sewer myself (rubbish at it actually). I do admire people who hand sew their projects.
You certainly can Daniela. Just measure the bible as shown in the tutorial. Here is a link to the website where we have the full written instructions with photos. www.alandacraft.com/2016/08/14/fabric-journal-book-covers/
There is no standard size to cut the ribbon. It depends on the size of your journal as to how long they need to be. Here is a link to the written tutorial www.alandacraft.com/2016/08/14/fabric-journal-book-covers/

Sew Nice! Do you have the information for that butterfly fabric so I could look it up and see if it is still in print and available for purchase? Thank you 🦋🌺
I'm sorry I don't have any details about the fabric. It was just a scrap we had in our stash.
@@alandacraft Thank you for the response. It really was an adorable fabric.
Alanda, this is so pretty! What is the fabric you used on this book over? Do you know? It's so pretty, no patchwork is necessary!
Hi Susan, this was a piece of fabric that we picked up from our local Spotlight store here in Australia. Unfortunately, it's no longer available.
Great tutorial thanks
Glad you like it Margaret 😊
Great project! Lovely 👍♥️🤗
Thank you Grace 😊
Great tutorial!
Thank you 😊
I love this. Will any type of batting work for this? I have some but it doesn't seem to be as flat as yours. Mine is a tad bit fluffier. Can you tell me the type you purchase please
Most battings should work for this. You just don't want to go too thick otherwise it will be a little bit too bulky.
I really like it 😄
would this cover work well with a made from scratch journal, maybe with a Coptic stitch spine and cover?
I haven't tried it but I cant see why not Kerry. You would have to take your measurements allowing for any extra thickness. We have the methodology for measuring a journal on the website . Here is the link. www.alandacraft.com/2016/08/14/fabric-journal-book-covers/ Would love to know how it turns out.
thank you:) I will see what I come up with. I have LOTS of material here that would go well on a cover
Lovely! Thanks.
Glad you like it Maggie 😊

If your journal allows you to bend the covers backwards then you will be okay but if it doesn't then you will have a hard time trying to get the journal cover onto it.

I like the printed fabric you used, do you know the company that makes it?
Sorry. We purchased the fabric from our local Spotlight store here in Australia. It was for a lap quilt we made a couple of years ago so I doubt it would still be available.

Can I sew this by hand?
I can't see why you couldn't hand sew it together, Jessica I use a machine because I’m not much of a hand sewer myself (rubbish at it actually). I do admire people who hand sew their projects.
Can you do it with bibles?
You certainly can Daniela. Just measure the bible as shown in the tutorial. Here is a link to the website where we have the full written instructions with photos. www.alandacraft.com/2016/08/14/fabric-journal-book-covers/
