Hey Forrest, I shared this with a local bike shop. They had some trouble while replacing the cable and actuating the seat fully. They said they couldn’t find good info on it and I told them I liked your video better than several others I’d seen.
I am putting the same length post in my XL Timberjack. As I don't use the bottle cage, I might try shortening the screws and use them as "plugs" rather than shimming. I'm getting it today and will see if that'll work. Thanks for the nice vid.
I have the OneUp V1 and had a lot of trouble removing the top collar with the strap wrench. I took part of an inner tube and wrapped it around the collar and put the strap wrench over it and that did the trick! The OneUp V1 seems mostly identical except for the bottom connector / actuator which I can upgrade to what the V2 uses. Mine also has plastic strips instead of the brass pins. I have to say it is a bitch to get the strips seated back in below the collar so I'd like to change that out. Nice vid. Wish I'd seen it earlier before I spent so much time looking at other Vids which were not as clear.
Hey Forrest! Something seems not to work out with my way of installing the dropper. How can you manually move out the post without pushing the lever? Every time I put the cable in the lever and try to move out the post nothing is happening. I tried several tensions but it’s always the same… nothing is happening at the post. I now want to check the general function of the post. Thx from Germany
You need to slide the entire cable housing through the frame to push the end of the cable housing into the bottom of the dropper - once that’s in place , you slowly slide the dropper into the frame and carefully pull the cable housing back out - done correctly and you should be able to the pull the cable tight by hand and clamp at the lever
I’m confused. Shimming doesn’t limit the full extension of the seat post, just the distance it travels down correct? For example, my current dropper is 150 and the dropper collar is buried. At full extension my saddle is a tad too high. Shimming this post on my current bike wouldn’t solve that, just limit how many mm’s down it drops. My thinking is my bike actually needs a 120 or 125 dropper so I can lower the post the additional half inch to inch or so so at full extension I’m at my optimal saddle height. Do I have this right or am I way off here?
Good question! This confused me at first too but the good news is you have it backwards. The shims prevent the dropper for extending the last 10mm or 20mm from a fully dropped position, effectively turning your 180mm dropper into a 170 or 160 like I did for mine. So in your case, shimming the dropper should lower the travel to 140 or 130 and still let you drop the seat to the collar.
@@FoCoFlowShow whoa! Thanks man. This literally means that can use the 150 instead of the 120. Also the one up has the slimmest collar too so that’ll buy me a few mm’s as well.
My OneUp V2 stopped working after a year and a half of almost no use due to de pandemic. The post got up alright but it would go down as soon as I sat on it. It didn´t loose any air, it just wouldn´t get looked. Bought mine in ChainReaction so i thought, ok, no problem, I just send it back... They first told me the post only have one year guaranty, wich was a lie, it has two, then after waiting yet another week they say NOW they needed to see it before the send it to the manufacturer... long story short, I had no time to loose jumping through hoops so I had it fixed at my expense. Turns out it had a tiny 5mm, 20cent o-ring broken inside. 50euros and a few hours later I had it running again. Apparently the factory knows about this issue. I spected more for almost 200 euros . Also, don´t buy at Chain reaction, customer service sucks.
Putting on a saddle is a huge pain! I can’t believe with all the MTB product innovation out there that nobody has come up with a better design for that.
Dude - I literally said the exact same thing while doing this install... if we can put a man on the moon surely we can develop a saddle clamp that doesn’t require so much frustration
@@FoCoFlowShow I actually just took my seat off trying to track down a creaking noise and found a pretty solid method. Loosen as much as possible without undoing the bolts. Push the seat to either side to release one rail while basically pushing the other rail toward the center of the post. Rotate the seat to bring the released rail up, then slide laterally the other way. Not sure how it took me years to figure that out.
Carefully… lol - you have to thread the cable through the housing first and then carefully set the cable thru grommet so it’s flush with the end and then tighten the set screw - a third hand would be helpful to hold the cable

Thanks for sharing! A new dropper is unfortunately on my list and not b/c I want to. I'm tired of this crappy Reverb and its intermittent behavior and absolute useless in cooler temps. Rockshox should be ashamed.
Dude - Reverbs are such garbage ... Rockshox needs to scrap that whole thing and start over ..: there are so many good droppers out there that it’s so disappointing how unreliable the Reverb is. I’ve had many droppers on various bikes over the years ... here’s my top 5. : 1. Bike Yolk Revive 2. Fox Transfer 3. Brand X Ascend 4. One Up V2 5. PNW Rainier V3
I get scratches on this dropper when taking it out and putting it back in which I assume is largely due to the sand/debris buildup near the seat collar. Anybody else experience this?
great video. clear and helpful tips. nice pace unrushed. however, please... lose.... the irritating music? i wanted to hear your helpful tips so couldn't mute. otherwise. thank you
I originally thought I wanted/needed the extra travel but based on where the water bottle cage bolts are located on the Timberjack, I couldn’t get the dropper inserted far enough down for a proper fit - ended up going back to a 150. Oh well 🤷♂️ - you live and you learn and you guys get a review video out of it 😃
Great video Forrest. Dropper post finally ordered. Will follow this video when trying to install.
Yes! It’s easy to install

Awesome - I hope it was helpful!
I switched from a fox transfer 150mm to a Oneup 210mm, huge Upgrade! Testing it the first time today :)
I prefer the feel of the Transfer but the longer travel of the 210mm is nice!
thanks to you I have installed mine easily !
Great!

Thanks! And yea - I think the actuator and pins are the biggest difference on the V2
Hey Forrest, thanks for the video.

Good intel - sometimes the simple fix is the way to go

@@FoCoFlowShow what about the loam? I just ordered the oneup v2 but almost waited for the loam to come back in stock..
Lol why did you skip the saddle installation. That is the one im looking for 😂
haha... i'll do a video on that exact topic soon

Just gotta try and keep it clean in between rides. Can't really avoid it during a ride.
Mine won’t stay up
Time for service probably - I ended up having a similar issue and had to get a seal kit and shop did the service
So it is not that good and reliable
I had the worst customer service I’ve ever had from one up and they charged me like 5 separate taxes I’ve never been charged by any other vendor
Nice review. Height btw not Heighth!
Haha thanks 🤦🏻

You got a 180 dropper and took 20 off it? Why not just put your 150, 10m higher? Seems like a waste
