  • The OneUp Dropper Post V3 takes the heart and soul of the beloved Dropper Post V2 and cranks it to eleven. The V3 is more simple, shorter, more reliable and higher performing. The V3 is also now the lightest dropper post on the market for each different travel option. With the widest range of travel options on the market, there's a OneUp Dropper Post for people of all heights and frame sizes.
    In this video, Mike and Tor share all of the new features about the OneUp Dropper Post V3 and compare it to the OneUp Dropper Post V2 in the shop.

    For me, I like the inflatable cartridge better as when it starts to fail during a riding day, you can top it up with a shock pump and not just be screwed with sealed failed cartridge and a dropper that doesn't hold its position....otherwise the V3 looks great, but now I'm not entirely sure which one to get....cool vid as always, thanks for the review!

      I agree... closed cartridges have always been the domain of rather cheap and less reliable seatposts... I don't know what this is supposed to be an improvement ... especially since they want more money for it... this has personally discouraged me from buying a new V3👎

      I think the whole point their goal was to make a sealed cartridge that was is mega sealed and reliable to make it so that there is absolutely no need to ever change the pressure. Time will tell, but so far from what we've heard from the R&D side of things at OneUp, the new cartridge is going to be pretty freaking good long-term.

    I've had bad luck with the Fox Transfer (Kashima coated). Seal failure on one and failure to fully extend on both. I'm aware they are quite sensitive to over-torquing of the seat post clamp and have always used a torque wrench to spec, however, I've had to back off from that spec to make them function consistently. Fox did warranty out one, but I already replaced it with a One Up V2 and have been happy with it ever since. The brand new Fox Transfer replacement can sit on the shelf.

    The total length of the 210 is actually longer than v2, 545mm vs 540mm (including the actuator), isn't it? meaning it needs more space inside the seat tube.

    If you want a budget close cartridge dropper, get the Brand-x. Better than one up that demanded constant servicing for me.
    If you are willing to spend a little more get the Bike Yoke Revive, amazing quality dropper.

    I like my V2s, very good posts for the price. But I’ll say, I test rode a couple friends bikes with AXS Reverb and I think a Fox and they move up and down like butter. The OneUp takes way too much ass pressure to overcome the seal stiction to lower. I’ll have to try out that V2.1 seal head at some point.

      @@TheLostCo Is this down to the new design of the actuator? The housing looks identical, will a V3 actuator fit in a V2 body?
      Also can you confirm the number of location pins and the front/aft look like polymer?
      Myself and a friend with internal seat clamps have had issues with scoring of the stanchion from the front pin as there's only 3 and they are right where the clamp pushes the body.

    My main wish is a dropper that goes up when I want it to go up, and down when I want it to go down. My Fox dropper has been shit since day one, so way too often I need to help it up again. This is a common problem, and I wish I knew sooner so I could've just swopped it out completely on warranty.
    Droppers have been around from quite a few years now and I still see day one problems which is quite sad.

      Unfortunately we have seen some Transfer Posts leave the factory without enough lubrication in the sleeve. If you have any questions on how your Transfer Post might be able to be set up to add some reliability, shoot us a call and talk to Alex in the suspension department as they have tons of experience with those. Otherwise, switching to something like the OneUp V3 makes it so that you can service the dropper at home without any special tools.

      The Bike Yoke just feels a bit more high-end overall compared to the OneUp droppers. However, the OneUp is a bit lighter and costs a bit less. The OneUp V3 is a really nice middle spot between the previous V2 and the Revive! Either of them will have the seat going up and down, and I'm sure you'll be stoked on both at the end of the day.

    Ok. I’m wanting to get a dropper post, I’ve never had one. My stack hight is 180cm and the max insertion depth is 240cm and I think I might be able to run a 180 drop post and get max drop or if I should just get the 150cm drop.

  • @Mapantz1
    @Mapantz1 6 месяцев назад +2

    When you say "shorter" are you talking about the total length? Because if you are, that's not strictly true. The 240mm and 180mm are the same length as the V2. The 210mm and 90mm V3 is longer than the V2. Only the 150mm and 120mm are shorter, and by a negligible 5mm.

    Nice upgrades. The V2 seals were aweful before requiring tons of maintenance, especially if seeing any wet/damp riding. Tons of play as well, at least on their 200 post (31.6). Look forward to a V3, 210 post to replace my PNW Loam post that eats travel adjust bushings for breakfast due to all the lateral/forward play and etched in travel adjust grooves in the post. Terrible design. Good seals though, better than V2 at least

      While it may be a con to some, I think it's still an overall pro to most of the general public due to how difficult it can be to service hydraulic dropper post cartridges. Luckily these things last so long that you won't really need to worry about this at all.

      Time will tell if it'll last long but if my PnW Loam that's going on for 3 years is anything to go by, I have faith in sealed cartridges. Don't have to think to top up air as often with the nitro sealed charge.@@TheLostCo
      ..... however it is probably a deal breaker for anyone that rides very, very often in terrible conditions. Just seems like they should have released a new post with the improved specs (bushing, skf, slot pins, weight etc), renamed it instead of calling it V3. And then re-launch the older V2 as a standalone product with conversion to sealed cartridge unit...
      Then rebrand/rename them both separately and at differing price points.

    Service costs on OneUp droppers just tripled ! Disappointing this is such a downgrade from the V2. Switching from a recharge cartridge to a sealed unit is bad for the consumer. Instead of just lubing and adding air to service the dropper (like the V2). Now when the pressure goes down in the cartridge you have to buy a replacement cartridge… I’ve been using droppers for over a decade. And have had half a dozen different brands. My Fox became obsolete when adding air to it needed a factory rebuild that was the same cost as a new Fox dropped on sale. X fusion had the same thing, dropper worked fine other than cartridge needing more air which required a new cartridge that wasn’t cost effective.
    Oh and service kits for the V2 that was still being sold last week. Are out of stock.

    • @TheLostCo
      @TheLostCo  5 месяцев назад

      The serviceability and rebuild-ability of the V2 and V3 are the same. The V3's sleeve is serviced similarly to the V2, just much faster now. The V2's cartridge was not rebuildable, it just had an air valve on it. When the V2 cartridge had any issues, it was simply replaced with a new one. The same applies to the V3, but the seal structure and nitrogen charge are designed to last much longer. Basically, there just isn't the need to ever add air since the cartridge is sealed so well. I would recommend not comparing the OneUp V3 to older X-Fusion or Fox Transfer droppers.
