  • These days an average trail/enduro mountain bike will typically come with a dropper post on it. Most cable actuated dropper seatposts will include the remote lever to activate it but not all dropper post remotes are created equal. In this video, Jeff walks us through the finer details of our favorite and what we consider to be the best dropper post lever offerings whether it be the Wolf Tooth ReMote, OneUp Components Remote, or the PNW Loam Lever. With so many options, how do we determine which dropper post lever is actually the best? In this video, we go through all the key points of the best dropper seatpost remotes like the levers shape, leverage, mounting options, and how the cable clamps to help you make an informed decision on your next mtb dropper remote purchase. I’m an old geezer (75) who still likes to pedal. I’ve found a drop post to be an essential safety feature. You can pedal with good leg extension and still put your feet flat on the ground at a stop. I’ve got the wolf lever. Works fine. I think drop posts should be touted more as a safety feature.

    i have used WT and FOX, but the most varied mouting positions i've used is the Crank Bros. it swivels around a ball joint and can be positioned any way you like.
    the Orbea brand remote has the easiest actuator, take very little effort to start moving.
    WT is good, but i've found the sharp edge of the blade digs into my thumb, once in a while.
    havent used 1-up but do run the droppers on 2 bikes. good stuff!

    I have the One Up and the Wolf Tooth on my bikes and the One Up wins out on all measurements. The 1Up is $20 less and comes with hardware, super sweet. The operation is equal to the Wolf's if not a tad better. Aesthetically, the Wolf's design exposes the cable wire which I hate seeing so the 1Up wins again. The 1Up in the video has been replaced by an aluminum which is as durable as the Wolf's. As for adjustment, the 1Up win again having more location flexibility than the Wolf.

    The BikeYoke Triggy Alpha has a lever pitch adjustment, and it's on a sealed cartridge bearing. It feels best opposite a shimano shifter, as it's paddle shape is much more similar to shimano than sram. I've got it on my bike, paired with a 213mm (!) BikeYoke Revive, and it does everything I want it to.

    Been using the stock remote of a brandx ascend dropper, it's already flimsy to begin with but it hasn't broken so far with the fair amount of crashes I've had. Going to replace it with a wolftooth when it breaks. Little hack for any dropper remote is to just have the clamp holding it to the handle bar to be not so tight that it can simply rotate around in a crash. Tight enough so it doesn't move around in normal usage but loose enough that it will just rotate when it hits a rock, etc. Same goes for brake levers and shifters and dropper remotes that are ispec/matchmaker that are directly attached. Saves them in a crash 👍

  • @skunkedfishing7868
    @skunkedfishing7868 Год назад

    The PNW is the most aesthetically pleasing. All I worry about is the little rubber pad coming off or wearing off like the loam grips do. The loam grips have not been very durable for me after owning them for about 6 months. The rubber feels good it just shears and frays easy. If the rubber pad could ever be replaced then the loam lever would win for me but I opted for wolftooth for my first dropper post.

    Hi, I am planning to use downtube shifter (like) device for my bike. I have 2x360 Nuvinci hub and double crankset on the front. I had 3x9 before and an XT shift lever, then I adjusted the stopper to reduce it to 2s shifter. I didn't want to buy 2s shifter and still don't. Gauges are dead weight, since I have only 2 gears and tell by the feel on my feet which clutch I'm on.
    My question is: How do the seatpost dropper lever works? Is it capable to do Lo-Hi positions or does it work in press-release principle and returns to same position when untouched?

      I think an old Suntour XC Pro topside shifter lever might work as a seat post dropper if your dropper post uses a cable in which the cable clamps at the post (with the cable end knob at the shifter/lever). Or you could use the XC Pro shifter for your front derailleur and use a regular under bar dropper lever. You can find them on eBay and they’re a much smaller and nicer old school shift lever than the old Shimano style. Just an idea.

    all of them have to be better than the one I have that came stock, worked fine until I changed handlebars a few times. On a school employee hourly wage,,,I cant afford a new one. But hey, nothin' some sturdy zip ties can't fix. and I like your Semi-'Trump hairdo.

    A little bit expensive for a lever

    I fucked up my fox dropper lever instantly. Wanted to change the cable. All went well, but i fucked the inner screw. 70 dollars down the drain! And it doesn't even feel good lmfao. Next one is going to be something else and way cheaper. 70 euro is just insane for such a shitty thing.

    Yeah, imma stay with my 10$ lever. It's the same shape and it's for both external and internal routing

    5 bucks for a tiny wolf tooth bit of plastic - wjat a rip off. Should cost a few cents.
