    another thing to keep in mind is grip, with Bikeyoke it was too slippery, even it had holes, I put anti slip tape on it and it solved the issues.

    My original xfusion dropper post came with a 360 degree joystick remote that could be hit in any direction with any part of your hand. Super easy to work with. When I eventually changed my dropper it went on the new setup. The joystick works with a dropper where the cable terminates at the base of the post and the lead at the remote. 4 years and stretch was never an issue. But it would only happen once and be done.

    Great video. But, allow me to point out that the TranzX has a screw that when tightened will remove the slop. I just swapped out for Wolf's Tooth. Very happy. Thanks for sharing info.

    my Bike Yoke Divine has originally a clamping barrel for the wire attached to the arm at the end of the post, but that resulted in it coming loose even with loctite243, my guess is the rapid temp changes, the wire cog loose, I had to just pull it out and wrap it on the handlebar, I only installed it accordign to instructions to test it and prove my suspicions. and I was right, it came loose, I knew it could happen, this is a major flaw in my opinion, but maybe it could be fixed with stronger thread locker, like red? So I went home, and eventually sorted it by installing the wire how I would have done it, with end stop at the dropper.
    never had an issue, but BikeYoke advised against it. I of course know it might cause some wear to the part, but at least I won't have to deal with issues.
    the wire fastened with the end at the dropper is best solution, and end of wire going into lever, you can always pull it if needed.
    So I agree with you.

    I use a “bad” dropper lever (according to your definition) because of the following feature: it has ISPEC that makes it super convenient for mounting

    • @rgmtb
      @rgmtb 2 года назад +1

      I'm pretty sure the Wolf Tooth levers have that feature. Actually, I just checked and I know they have that feature :-)

    I have a few different version. The wolf tooth would NOT hold the cable in place. It drove me INSANE. It would slip with the first press. Until the screw broke trying to clamp it down. The pnw I have is MUCH better.

    Great vid Gene! I'm just about to purchuse an Scott RC which doesn't come with a dropper.Yes I'm fitting a dropper BUT, the left side of the bar is currently occupied with brake and (scott exclusive lockout leavers) and quite cluttered, so, I'm having trouble finding a r/h or an interchangable quality leaver. Any suggestions?

    IMHO if the cable has stretched beyond adjustment at lever, it should be replaced. Best practice for cockpit controls is barrel end of cable at cockpit. Looks cleaner too.

    I'm new at this. Just got a Siskiu D6. Dropper wiggles and I want to upgrade. Do I just buy a new lever and simply detach cable from old lever and attach to new lever? Or do I need to do a whole new cable system? Is there anything I need to do at the other end (where it attaches to the seat post dropper)?

    Thx for the video...the Tranz-X lever you liked...was that the Kitsuma lever? Also, can you explain a little about what a bearing is and how to know if a dropper post has one when shopping for one? Also a recommendation for a budget lever that rivals the best ones? Thank you

    Hi, I am planning to use downtube shifter (like) device for my bike. I have 2x360 Nuvinci hub and double crankset on the front. I had 3x9 before and an XT shift lever, then I adjusted the stopper to reduce it to 2s shifter. I didn't want to buy 2s shifter and still don't. The gauge in 2 speed is dead weight, I just need a shifter mechanism.
    My question is: How do the seatpost dropper lever works? Is it capable to do Lo-Hi positions or does it work in press-release principle and returns to same position when untouched?

    • @rgmtb
      @rgmtb 2 года назад +1

      Press / Release but it's the actual seat post that pulls it back. These levers have no springs or anything like that in them to control their position. Basically, when not connected to the seat post they just flop around. The seat post mech keeps the lever tight and when you push the lever in and then release it, it's the seat post mech that pulls the lever back to it's original location.

    • @rgmtb
      @rgmtb 2 года назад

      Good chance there is to much tension on the cable. The level should be a little loose when not being pushed. Not super loose but should not have tension on it.
