Offshore tournament rules are: fish is considered caught when you touch the leader Nice video James, love seeing the next generation joining in on our passion
We are going tomorrow! The forecast is calling for 104. I want to be there at the first crack of daylight. The moon should be up the whole time we are fishing...my favorite time to fish...the moon over head! My wife will be going so I will have a very strict time limit on fishing! We will be off the lake by noon no matter we have a cooler full or not a fish in the boat! 😂
@@BooneBoys It was a rule started for Marlin Tournaments that were catch-n-release. When I was running charters offshore, if a guy was planning to keep a fish, especially big Amberjack (my boat record is 88lbs), but lost it at the boat....they would want to take credit for the catch. But we never considered it a catch unless you didn't plan to keep it!
:: checks last text to James as a look of consternation crosses face:: “Was out last weekend got skunked. Think this heat wave has them a bit sluggish.” Well, don’t I feel like a fool. Now I gotta get back out there and redeem myself. Yea yea, laugh it up big guy. 😂 Seriously glad y’all had a solid trip and hope I can break this dry spell ASAP. As for JB, short answer is no. Long answer is you gotta touch it yourself and/or have it out of the water crossing the gunwale, like crossing the plane of the goal line in the game of football. And as far as Paw Paws pants, well, when it’s 103 out I just go with the SoCo catchphrase “Whatever’s comfortable.” The fact he was wearing jeans in that heat in the sun the man gets a pass from me.
@@BooneBoys you know I was looking for a good baseball analogy, but I couldn’t come up with one. After I wrote this and got back from fishing I asked Christina for her thoughts on one. She is a much bigger baseball fan than I. Red Sox, native Boston girl. Whenever I take her on the boat I swear half the fish I hear jumping are actually splashes from her chucking tea into the lake and yelling something about taxes and crown loyalists. Dang, I married well. Anyhow, she pondered the rules of baseball and the rules of fishing for a moment, and with confidence declared that losing the fish boatside is like a ground roll double. Definitely not a run, but certainly not something to be ashamed of either.
@@BooneBoysdon’t forget that’s also peak Oklahoma trout season. Sam & I hope y’all will join us again for that. It’s only the beginning of August and we are both chomping at the bit for trout time starting in November.
@edawgwalloutdoors that’s when we went. Were your Shad lively? They weren’t biting like they have been but seemed like the sandbass were more agressive than the hybrid bass
We are a big believer in the 12:30 bite, the 2 o'clock bite, and the 3 o'clock bite too. We just got back from two weeks in Canada. We had at least two weeks of over 100 degrees before we left. I kept track while we were gone, and it was over 100 every day here, and it has been 100 every day since we got back, and the forecast is for over 100 for the next 10 days. Haven't we set some kind of record already?
BEST Uncle Award goes to Mr. Boone Boys!
Bahaha well if you could only see all the unedited content. No but we had a good time.
Woo Hoo!!! Fun! (well except for that heat!)
Ooo, John Barry, nice try but no dice.
It's great that you're teaching more kids to fish !
Keep 'em coming Boone Boys!
Ha ha. After a few more comments I think he’s realizing he’s in the minority

@michaelluchak5884 thanks for the input and thanks for the support!
Great video! Looks like y'all had a full crew!
I believe you have to have the fish in your hands for it to count as a catch. Great video! I always look forward to your videos!
I agree with you! John Barry disagrees. Lol
In your hand👍🏼
Absolutely! After the first 6 or 7 comments I’ve showed John Barry and he is finally admitting.
@@BooneBoys lol, my measure of success is how well I could feed my family. Hark to eat a fish that gets loose👍🏼😉
@borfishing7690 ha ha. I love it. Best way I’ve heard Fishing success described.

I agree! John Barry is starting to come around.
Awesome video with lots of actions👍Nope,it don't count touching the boat,Its got to be held with control👌
I shied John Barry your comment and he grumbled. Lol
@@BooneBoys ask him for me ,If you was fishing and that fish was your supper for tonight, did it count? Lol
@@FreshwaterSouL ha ha. Will do.
Putt'n the smack on them!
Kids are having a blast!
If your offshore, you touch the leader it counts but everywhere else "YOU" have to touch it!
I’ve never heard that about offshore fishing. Makes sense!

About 8:30AM we had some HUGE Hybrid Bass in our boat about 8.5lbs and 9.8lbs large. Out in the boat in 20ft of water
@M-LOutdoors those are some big ones!! Nice work.

I like crossing the gunwale. Or maybe it counts if the “Net Man” is late to his job.

I feel vindicated.
