I love your videos and how you catch them from young to old as a family! Your dad is awesome. Thank you for showing your graph as well and what to look for- excited to get into the hybrid fishing.
Thanks! Glad they are helping you out some. If there is anything you’d like to see or more info on just let me know and maybe I can try to talk about it.
Dang good action on those hybrids! I built my splasher in January of this year. First of march it bit the dust. Took it apart to find it was leaking water. That rusted the coild springs behind the brushes. Found some SS springs on Amazon. Ive got it back together with waterproof grease to hopefully keep the water out. Seems to run fine, so i hope to test it soon. IMO-you better have a splasher on your boat if your fishing for Hybrids. Just hired on with a new school district. Had to fight with my old school district to get my service time correct. There is a big difference between 43 years of service and 31 years! I had to go over some heads, up to the associate Superintendent. Once i got him involved my phone started ringing...gett'n done! Being retired i really didnt want so many hours but they ask and i alway say "yes" so this week is out, so ive pushed our trip to next week!
Charles, Glad to hear you got that sorted out. After 43 years of service I’d say you deserve those higher ups direct line. You’re right about the splasher.
@@BooneBoys My confidence in a splasher is very high, that it will keep fish under the boat. Because I use alternative baits (muscles, shrimp and liver) its seems best to keep the boat in one spot. Many times, if you moved the rod too much or any at all. It would effect getting bit or not. Our last trip, when my wife went, we were on a flat...19feet of water. We spot locked and I was chumming with the Cattle cubes. Even though our splasher bit the dust that day. We had the Cattle cubes in the water, so the fish would pass under the boat all the time. My confidence in the "Thumper" is not very high. There is a guy who builds them and is not shy to give you a parts list with sources! So I built mine exactly like his, so I feel it would work equally well. When dead sticking, like you, I like to stay on the move. I'm not as sure the splasher causes any fish to follow you, but once your spot locked I'm sure it helps hold fish!
Glad to see you're on the mend and out on the water again. I'm grounded for at least another week. Engine shop called today, outboard is leaking 2 stroke oil and running way too rich which explains why it wasn't idling and prone to revving at low RPMs. Gotta pull the powerhead and Bust Out Another Thousand as outboard repair tradition dictates. 😥 Did the blade bait do anything for you? Know you said it's been a hit or miss technique this time of year. We were using jigging & flutter spoons off the bottom 10-15 feet and that worked well. Not as good a live bait but still respectable.
Thanks man. I hate to hear that about the motor. Hope they get it fixed up for you. The blade worked ok but only caught really small drum and sandbass.
@@BooneBoys same but I'm not surprised. This is only my 2nd year with the boat and it sat for years on Texoma before I got it, so these things are just gonna happen. Same for us with the jigging spoons but Sam did slam a really nice hybrid on it as well. We didn't start using them until much later in the day. If we had started first light I think it would've been a bit different result.
@@BooneBoys Oh it's testing the limits of my not exactly robust patience, but delayed isn't denied. For spoons, I was using a 1oz 6th sense divine jigging spoon, bleeding shad color if memory serves. Sam was using a 2oz spoon, white with silver flakes, so both had a lot of sparkle & shine. I forget the exact brand & coloration of his but I'll snap you some photos and send them tomorrow. What seemed to make a difference was the presentation. First is we both had to really lift the spoons off the bottom a good ways, not just jig a foot or two. I had the tip of my 7ft rod right above the water and was lifting it way above my head and then fluttering back down. We were letting them flutter up & down 6-7 ft so quite a ways. I also remember that day Sam was hogging all the bites at first while I couldn't get a single one standing 5 feet away using a similar sized lure over the same school. My cadence was way too fast. I was aggressively ripping the jigs on the lift, going from bottom to 6ft up in a second and a half at most. His cadence was a fair bit slower & steadier, taking say 3 seconds and change for his lift off the bottom to all the way up. Fish just seemed to want it slower that day. As soon as I slowed down my cadence I started getting consistent hits also.
Hey Boone boys enjoys the vids you guys post! You and your kids are the reason why I bought a boat to go fishing haha , been wanting to catch some fish but I am new to fishing and am also a new boat owner. I've heard some good things about lake Texoma but it was too far of a drive for me never really wanted to make the 2 in a half hour drive to get skunked haha but I'm inspired to take my boat out there and give it a try this weekend. I'm thinking about taking my kids out there to give it a try but I wanted to ask which boat ramp did you launch your boat at if you don't mid me asking?
Congrats on your boat! Normally we fish Texoma in the winter, mainly because the summer we have so many kids activities and it’s 3.5 hrs away. But I’d go with whatever is closer to you. Buncombe Creek and Caney Creek are the 2 we use, but if you choose Caney Creek, don’t use the campsite one because it would be packed full. Across the creek there is a brand new parking lot. Buncombe Creek is a smaller setup, but I’ve heard people catching bait there and it’s pretty close to Willis bridge and the Red River inflow. But fish are everywhere there but may take some time to find patterns. Many times like you see in our recent videos the first couple hours are good then they may shut off. It’s not like winter deadstick where you can catch them most the day. Hope this helps some but good luck and let me know how you do!
Another enjoyable video. So for your motor, I may want to check the accelerator pump or different names. When you quickly push forward the control, the pump will send temperately more fuel into the cylinder.
Thanks for the good info
You’re welcome!
I'm a proud supporter of the Boone Boys! Great video as always!
What??!! Thank you so much! You’re amazing.
Aw! This is great! Haha... when all the poles had a bite! So fun! Quad catch! Love it! Great footage, sound, and content - as always! 7:46

Once it hit 8am or so it was a grind, they were already filled up.
