Bass jam has to be one of the best closing tracks on any rap album, it’s the perfect track to end quaranta on since in more ways than one it’s the perfect antithesis to 30 on XXX. It just feels like he finally liberated himself from a dark place.
I’ve cried or had tears in my eyes every time I’ve listened to bass jam (like 7 times now) it’s thinking of the great times in a tough childhood he had because of music and him saying music is all he ever wanted to do and now he’s one of the most respected artists out there im so happy for him :)
@@bobthepoppop yeah definitely that simple beat makes me think about memories that aren’t even similar to what he’s rapping about it’s incredible what he’s managed to do with that song
I feel Bass Jam encapsulate what Bobs whole channel is about. The lyrical impact, and the value we see in music based on the context of the songs, and that it isnt necessarily about the sound, but about how it makes us feel.
This has been a very emotional week for me personally and holy shit this album hit me hard. Its a really chill album overall but damn he hits on so many things that really sit with you. I love that he got out all his wacky shit with Scaring the Hoes and just got REAL with this album. Its just beautiful.
I love Danny Brown. Just everything about the guy, his music is mind bending, personal, funny, insane, just one of a kind.. its really relatable and has healed me through tough times, many good memories because of him. I Thank Danny for being true to himself, and he'll always be my favorite🖤
Bass Jam is such a beautiful song. It is the perfect conclusion to Quaranta. Danny's journey from XXX to this album has been incredible, and I am so happy I was there along the ride. So happy that Danny has found his place. Time to enjoy live.
I genuinely appreciate your humanity, man. The fact that you connect so deeply with people whose experiences are so completely different that it brings you to tears... You're a deeply empathetic man and that's really a beautiful thing bro.
@@jacquecousteau @dadorage1695 MIKE dropped three albums plus features for Earl and Niontay, in like a month! 🤯 that also led me back to their collab WhereDeyAt, one of the craziest tracks I’ve ever heard him on.
I cried shortly after you started crying lol. My dog was hit by a car on Tuesday and I hadn't cried since, but this video allowed me to finally loosen up that blockage a bit.
"Sideways Bobs" also made me choke up. And I literally just chocked up watching your reaction. I have a knot in my throat, listening to you break it down. Because it's true. I had to eat ice cream to make it better 😂. Man, I love Danny Brown even more after this album.
didn’t really appreciate Bass Jam until listened to the album in its entirety and by the end was crying like a mf. it hit so hard even though i don’t know the man personally. no funny bars no punchlines, just Danny, Daniel this time. this is truly beautiful. I love that he is finally sober and living his best possible life right now, he’s seen too much shit and deserves to be happy.
everyone’s said it already but bass jam relaly is one of the best endings to a rap album from recent memory. perfect and super emotional ending to the project.
maaan Hanami + Bass Jam is such a fantastic way to close this project, great stuff Danny and great reaction Bob!! I was bawling right with you boss ✊ music’s the one Time Machine we have P.S Invincible is one of my favorite songs of all time as well :)
Homie got me tearing up at the end there...nice man...music touches us all in ways we can't say ourselves.. kendrick..danny..thank yall for speaking for us
For as much as Danny Brown is known for his over the top persona, Detroit really breeds so many unique artist. J Dilla, Elzhi, Royce da 5’9, Eminem, Black Milk and a bunch of others 🤙🏼 Danny Brown manages to stay true to himself and never “faked” his character. It was more of a mask sometimes to hide the pain and he takes it off for this project and presents himself in his most vulnerable state. Really a true artist 🙌🏼
Loved this album and this video only made me appreciate it more. Lots of thoughtful insight on lyrics that flew past my head. The stuff you said near the start about not worrying about age was really important for me to hear, just moved out of home earlier this year and super stressed/anxious about the current and future. I always look forward to these videos, thank you.
I attended a listening party in Austin Texas for this album with Danny Brown himself attending and hosting it alongside Idea Generation (Episode will be coming out soon on Idea Generation Channel) And Danny Brown mentioned how this album was made during the pandemic era so he was just locked in and writing his thoughts out, Even Danny said that listening to this album was a bit uncomfortable now given that he is now sober and doing a lot better. Just wanted to provide that context for yall 🫰. Love what you do Bob!
Invincible is insane. I'm still young but feel I've gone through enough to make me too tired some days. I've lost everyone I loved except my only brother. My girlfriend of 2 years is now the only person I love that's near me. My brother lives in Cali and I'm in London. Too far. It's tough sometimes. Tool has literally saved my life, as cringe as it may sound to many. Tool is my favorite band. Incredible music. Open to interpretation while also giving powerful messages. Ones that make you question, research, learn, humble yourself, learn to deal with life. Losing my mom to cancer in 2021 was tough. My only parent. At 28. I was not prepared. The months leading up were tough. It was quick too. COVID didn't help being able to see her until I did the tests to go live with her until she died. It was hard. I can stress that enough. I held a lot in. I was there alone too. Until I had my flight back home. 2 weeks of doing nothing. I delayed my flight to be with her until the end. It came sooner than we thought. Sorry for sharing too much. Smoking helps me open up I guess.
1:05:44 reminded me of the Fleetwood Mac, Landslide lyrics Well, I've been afraid of changin' 'Cause I've built my life around you But time makes you bolder Even children get older And I'm getting older too Growing older and growing apart, that's a scary thing man. Beautiful lyrics.
Bruiser Wolf's Dope Game Stupid would be great reaction too, he has a lot funny bars and is unique I'm really curious why he still not released new project, many people really liked his debut but almost 3 years passed and he only dropped few featurings since then
Yeah man! Dug tf out of this album too, I'm from Detroit so YBP was especially dope 🤣 and that Poetic Justice line was a reference to the actual movie with Tupac and Janet Jackson; and the drive in is a spot outside the city we all go to for that movie experience and it's fasho sketch af!!
Jenn's fucked me up man cause I been seeing that shit since I graduated HS in 2012 😭but I lows appreciate the occasional gun shots and other hood activity that keep Detroit as Black as it's been the past 90 odd years! (Not condoning the pain that comes with it but just a cultural thing 😂)
Zeke is Isaiah Thomas of the Detroit Pistons. I don't remember a character being murdered at a drive-in in Poetic Justice, but that _did_ happen in John Singleton's previous movie Boyz N The Hood (when Doughboy gets his revenge on his brother's killers)
Not sure if anyone got this info to you, but Danny Brown reference to “Zeke” is Isiah Thomas who was the leader and two time champion with the Detroit Pistons.
You would really be doing yourself a disservice if you don't get to the Kings disease/Magic trilogies from Nas' catalogue. I know it sounds like a lot, but sonically it's worth it
Hope you ever react to Quelle Chris's albums. He produced quite a bit on 30 too. His albums are very consistently good and he made a couple of albums with Chris Keys too. Highly recommended!
Hey bob any chance on closing out the discog with old? Not his best but there are some bangers. And I think it gives a greater context to his evolution and growth as an artist
I know Danny recently said he was on acid when he made Tantor. The Alchemist came in with some new beat! He tends to produce different beats so this was sick to hear! Huge fan of Al. The video is hilarious! I recommend it! But the song does stand out when you listen to the whole album.
I just know Bob about to be hit with the hardest emotional whiplash going from uknowwhatimsayin straight into this 😭

MIKE is the MVP of 2023, he has done an insane job this year, Burning Desire is my current AOTY by a long shot
Right. And his collab with Alchemist. What a great year for him.
