The Erhu is a two-stringed bowed musical instrument which may also be called a Southern Fiddle, and sometimes known in the Western world as the Chinese violin.
Music is universal. The Chinese instrument used just make the song even more hauntingly melodramatic and a greater appreciation for this masterpiece.

This may be the most hauntingly beautiful ballad of all. I'm 42 and I'm not ashamed to say I cried when I saw this movie and this song came on. Powerful and perfect. Still strikes a chord in 2021.

Erhu is an amazing instrument. To me, it sounds like the upper strings of a banjo played with a bow. I come from a family of traditional southern USA bluegrass musicians, that's the best way I can describe it. beautiful.
Well yeah it’s a stringed instrument with a small box. Musical instruments like the human race are all interconnected. The Erhu came to China from nomadic steppe people of what is now Mongolia. We are all connected.
I really enjoy how you embody the themes and costumes of the films that the music originated through. Music is a gift from God...and I am blessed to hear yours.
The Chinese Erhu is perfect for this song -- I'd say it even elevates the emotions even more.
