The cheerleading joke is an exact flipping of a joke in Archie comics, where the guys say they will never join the football team and risk their necks until they see the cheerleaders. And another Archie joke where the guys laugh at the idea of being male cheerleaders until they discover it's for the girls volleyball team.

Off the coast where the lost beast came
To bring the world misery and shame

The path you should have never crossed
The Beast exacts a heavy cost
The number of the Beast is lost

The CW had the last Saturday morning lineup, now kids can watch any time because of the Internet. By the 2000s, the original three networks of NBC, CBS and ABC decide not to compete with kids cable channels, and deal with parents lobbying groups.

    • @adultmoshifan87
      @adultmoshifan87 Год назад

If you ask me, with the streaming market becoming a Wild West causing families to be priced out of kids programming, it is WAY past time for those FCC requirements for educational programming to be abolished! If I were running the FCC, I’d not only abolish said requirements, I’d also introduce a new mandate requiring free-to-air networks to air 1 hour of TV-Y programming EVERY day between 7am and Noon! In order for a network to be exempt from said mandate, it’s need to register as, and be confirmed as, a dedicated news, sports, music or shopping network. Saturday morning cartoons need a proper comeback, plenty of toons whether you can afford cable and/or streaming or not!

In “Yo Yogi”’s case, it was probably Hanna Barbara once again trying to clone Scooby Doo. As for detective shows in general . . . They kind of ARE all-purpose plot generators; the writers of “Angel” specifically admitted Angel Investigations existed mainly to generate stories. It’s why so much of television is cop shows and why Luke Cage set himself up as the Hero for Hire: it provides a convenient excuse to have people bring their problems to the protagonist and why the protagonist doesn’t need a lot of motivation to get involved; it’s their literal job description. This is ignoring the inherent thrill of a good mystery, which detective stories by their nature live to manufacture.
I can see that it’s a trope lazy writers fall back on, but for good writers (like on “Angel” or “NCIS” it provides an interesting A-plot to move the episode along while letting the storytellers focus on character beats, character interactions, setting, and other B-plot stuff

Long-time watcher, first-time commenter! Actually, Bo Jackson DID talk like that, mostly for his endorsement for Nike (according to Wikipedia). Back in those dates were three or four months LATER than release. A cover date of December really meant a shelf date of August or September. And in this case, it was a $1.25 because that was the cover price for most of Harvey and Archie's comics back then. But it was actually GIVEN away at Toys R Us, Kaybee, some video stores, etc.

    • @kimifw58
      @kimifw58 7 лет назад +6

I watched Fairly OddParents up until 2008. I don't remember him ever wishing for world peace, though the world became peaceful after he wished that kids ruled it. He wasn't allowed to wish for money because that's counterfeiting. He could simply wish for the things he wanted to buy with the money, but that made his parents suspicious. He once wished he was popular and lived in a mansion, but then he got his godparents taken away for being ungrateful. Another time he wished he was "the most wanted kid" which made all the fairies in Fairy World fight over him. When Chester had Norm as a godparent, he tried wishing away the world's problems, but being a little kid, he misunderstood what those problems really were.
I guess the point we can get from all this is that children are too selfish and naïve to wish for world peace, and they can't handle power or fame either.

This episode makes me feel old, with the G1 Digimon, Zilla, & Power Rangers clips, as well as all the talk about Saturday morning cartoons (Which no longer exist, because of all the networks pumping out shows that, in my day, would be too childish for Treehouse.). Personally, I remember Friday night Bionic better. (From 6pm till 1am nothing but anime (With exceptions like Transformers: Cybertron, & a Power Rangers rip off where 4 30 year old teenagers fight monsters. I think it was called Monster hunters, or something.). I do remember FoxKids, FoxBox, 4Kids!, & Vortex, but I guess I just liked the older anime more. Thinking about it now makes me kinda sad. Yeah, I could watch everything online, but theres just something nostalgic about watching it late on Friday nights, trying to decide between adult anime on Bionic (No more, atleast not were I live.), Friday Night Smackdown! (Now on Thursdays), & I Shouldn't Be Alive, & The Haunting on Discovery Channel (Both canceled)......Why is everything I love changing? One day I hope to get Cartoon Network, & watch their Thursday night anime marathon.

I have a couple minor notes I want to make about this video.
10:49 - 11:05 No mention of Droopy, Master Detective?
1:28 I'm glad Super Mario World didn't have a story in this. Oogtar and Yoshi are so annoying! (Dino-bunga!)
4:06 I have an OC on my DeviantArt page with the last name "Duttweiller." You can find me there as LuketheToonManTaylor.
16:31 They, at least, look better than Magic Johnson in that SNES game.
1:25 Space Cats was made by Paul Fusco, the guy who created ALF. I think ALF should've tried to eat them. ;)
0:11 Looks like you mainly grew up watching the later years of Fox Kids, judging by the promos you showed. Eek! The Cat and Taz-Mania were the best!
23:22 At least it's better than "Close Encounters of the Furred Kind."
14:44 GET IT?! BECAUSE MACAULAY CULKIN WAS IN HOME ALONE!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!! (mouth foams up)
14:21 The idea of the Chip and Pepper show makes me think of Club Mario, a different version of the Super Mario Bros. Super Show with the live-action segments with Danny Wells and Lou Albano replaced with these "totally radical" segments with Tommy Treehugger and Co-MC. Look it up, if you dare!
3:44 Not gonna lie, this bit made me snicker.
22:37 This bit made me snicker, too.
20:35 That "joke" was Luan Loud levels of bad. (Oh yeah, I said it!)
9:20 Someone should make an Adam Ant "Friend or Foe"/Atom Ant mashup video. I'd watch it.
16:11 That guy looks like Mowgli from The Jungle Book. (I know someone else already mentioned this...)
23:37 I don't know why, but I think I'd like to hear Kate Micucci say that dumb line with her Sadie Miller voice. Someone get on it!
    And one more note
26:20 I know this is more related to the next episode, but it's still better than Mighty Muffin Pounder Rangers.

Worth noting that Amazonite is actually a real mineral that gets it's name from stones that share the same colour and are found in the amazon river, though it is unknown if any of those stones are amazonite. What's also kind of funny is that Amazonite is found more commonly around Miass (which no doubt gets the same cheap laughs from the English as Uranus does) in Russia.

The only difference is that you don't need to pay money in order to play a demo, you usually got them bundled with the full version of other games or could download them from the Internet, both for free. $1.25 is way too much for a bunch of incomplete stories. They could've at least given us one full story in this comic to justify the price!

Pro Stars will always be baffling, but still completely understandable speaking as a 90's kid.
No resolution for a single storyline:when JJ Abrams read this comic it was like when Truffaut saw Citizen Kane

I was also a Fox Kids/Kids WB kid when I was growing up. Also, in the Omaha, Nebraska broadcast area, which is where I live, they would show Fox Kids Saturday morning on Saturday, and Kids WB Saturday morning would be on SUNDAY mornings, and since 1999, they switched it around.

Holy crap--revisiting this is quite the nostalgic kick. However, it makes me have an idea: how about revisiting the Magic Catcher's Mitt as a plot device? Sure, Linkara's not going to be dumb enough to reuse an obvious Monkey's Paw....mitt, but someone else could be desperate enough tobe tempted into use a magic wish-granting glove, even knowing there would be negative consequences.

also the space cats was a weird show it had a puppet portion before the episode started with the chief, a giant head and the commander of the space cats. plus i remember one episode they defeated the bad guy be concocting an antidote to the shampoo she was distributing that would make everyone balled, i think its been a bit, because she put the ingredients on the label. when asked she said well of course it the law.

I don't know how common it is in Spanish speaking countries In South America, though)
