  • Directed, produced, and edited by Honors College at WKU alumnus Nate Hovee, this travel documentary provides a comprehensive inside look at the very best sights and cultural experiences that Turkey's largest city has to offer. Additionally, it introduces the study abroad program at Yeditepe University (on the Asian side of Istanbul, Turkey), which is made possible through an international exchange partnership with Western Kentucky University.

Thanks Nate for this overview of Istanbul. Liked how you came in before each area to give us information on what we would see. With all the older buildings and Towers there it is amazing to think that they were able to build such things with the lack of machinery back then. Appreciate the time and energy you put into each of your videos.

In spite of the absence the Topkapi, buyukada, dolmabahce, ortakoy, rumeli hisari, yerebatan, bagdat street, maslak, cengelkoy, yoros castle, ferries and so forth, It is very neat and sober presentation of istanbul.

Excellent vid of a wonderful city. Took me back in time during my first visit to Istanbul 10 yrs ago! Walked down that famous road and hanged out in those small tables outside of interesting restos. Seemed so long ago and far away. Glad tho your're now making vids abt the PH. I can stl travel while staying at home 😸, sort of. Miss travelling so much! We wanted to go to Izmir and Cappadoccia... 😪😪😪.

Well Nate I had to check this out after your great videos in the Philippines. You should have heaps more subscribers. I thought wow 7 years ago and the quality and scripting is as good as the one you made last week in Angeles. I just finished watching a show on Netflix called The Protector, based in Istanbul. After watching that I thought I'd like to visit that city and your video has made me 100% want to visit!

My experience for 2 weeks in Istanbul is I loved the scenery as well as the food. I met some really cool people, and Isticlal is the place to be every night. hehe! the Grand Bizzarre is really expensive compared to other places. Its also more expensive to drink beer than eat. The cost of one beer can feed you the whole day. Watch out for bars late night. Pub style places that we are used to in the U.S. If you walk into a place like this and the only Females in the room are the bartenders and the musical entertainment, walk out. We are easy targets for managers to charge you 48 TL for a pint of their domestic beer. Cab drivers too. Its always nice to pay for the cab fare when you are with your homies, but for six people its 8 TL, if you are respectful and nice, the cabby will drive off. Children approach you late night for money, but its a scam. You can tell the difference between the real homeless and people. I was generous to them. Over all though, I would go back. One last thing. Don't go to a night club being just men and having no women with you. They will not let you in. Surprisingly, my friend and I were turned down heading into a Bar lounge on a Monday.Over all, I loved it.Could have made some great friends too if I had stayed longer.

Awesome video! Did you shoot this on a Canon 6D?
Also, the visuals are fantastic, the voiceover could be better :).. its hard to hear at times, with plosives here and there. Could you re-narrate the voiceover parts in Studio?

Transitions/editing/sound is perfect, but host seemed a little robotic. Loosen up a little and buy a personal mic so that your voice doesn't drop to unbearable when you look away at the camera. Great content and really enjoyed the video.

It's a great city to walk around. Some of the hostels and hotels on the European side may offer free walking tours, or tours with a small fee.
