I was taking an upgrade course in Pure Math years ago and there was a sweet older Turkish Lady that was having trouble with a final chapter of the class and she came to me for help and I willingly helped her because I was fairly certain of my understanding of it. Well I explained it to her in a way that was easy for her to understand it and she finally got it...after days of stressing about it. So that very day she went home over lunch time and hand made me an entire plate of Baklava! it was by far the most incredible thing I have ever tasted, because up to that point I had never actually had Baklava. it was such a sweetheart thing for her to do, I never intended to help her for reward, I was happy that I was able to explain it to her in a way that she could understand it, but the Baklava was AMAZING! After Seeing how much work went into it now, I am even more appreciative for her labours to make it for me!

From restaurants to simple food stalls the produce was beautifully selected, the workspaces were clean and usually you could see the preparation as well. It was all delicious, the food was made not just to taste good but look good and colorful. the process was transparent and everything was perfectly clean. My American eastern shore raised mother started making Baklava when i was about 10 and it was one of those beautiful moments when I tried it the first time. The recipe she used had this wonderful honey, orange, spice syrup and layers of crispy butter-caressed filo dough. No pistachios but yes walnut, pecan, etc. She would put it together layered like lasagna, bake it and pour the spice syrup over it and set. Wonderful.

I love Baklava! I found a recipe for it one time, it was somewhat complex but it was worth every learning curve! It used honey and rose water to make the syrup, and phyllo dough and a mix of pistachio and walnut filling. I would love to try these, this company definitely takes pride in a wonderful dessert creation.

I love turkey, but haven’t made it TO Turkey.🤭I have been 200 clicks above the Norwegian Arctic Circle, though. In February. In a tent. While PREGNANT & sicker than a dog (didn’t yet know. I spent the ‘80s in the Marine Corps.)
Had baklava in Detroit’s “Greektown” neighborhood & a Greek restaurant (owned/operated by a Greek immigrant) in OKC. I just don’t like it. The combined texture of phyllo dough & chopped nuts soaked in honey just doesn’t work for me. The other problem? I don’t like honey enough to want mouthfuls of that flavor. On the other hand, LOVE phyllo when it’s flaky (as it’s meant to be.) I could eat spanakopita w/ tzatziki sauce all day long!

@@MKassa and what makes you think Turkey is an islamic country? We are a secular country. The west sees us as an islamic country because that's how they wanna see, like other countries they despise and be racist against in the middle east. I am a Turk born in thracian part of and living in central anatolia part of Turkey, and I am an atheist, not muslim. Almost everyone my age are also non-religious. But we also have muslims, christians, and jews. We also have a lot of people who believe in the ancient Turkic gods, and the ancient pagan religion of tengrism. So, take your bigotry and racism to somewhere else please or else remove your blinkers.

Most bakeries are higgeldy-piggeldy, and a little unsanitary. This one is sparkling clean and very organized. Not only is the baklava beautiful, but the whole operation and the people are too!
