transkript: Hello here is Carl the landscape guy. In my new office I’m installing a split air conditioner system, that will be used for both heating and air conditioning. The model I chose is a 9,000 BTU 2.6 kw precharged inverter kit. Among other things, the manufacturer advertises that this system saves energy and is very quiet. It has an antibacterial coating on the fins, works with a new, environmentally friendly refrigerant and can be controlled via WLAN with a smartphone app. This system comes with the coolant prefilled unit, 9 feet of refrigerant piping, and small parts such as a feedthrough tube, insolation tape, sealant and rubber mounts. There is also the outer wall bracket, which I will show you later, when it comes to the assembly of the outside unit. Then here we have the indoor unit, which is very light. It comes with a cable that will connect both units. It also includes the manual, the remote control and a wall holder for it. Both devices seemed to have been well-packed and arrived undamaged. This is the back of the wall mount. The indoor unit will go on this brick and concrete wall. I measure the distance between the holes of the wall bracket from the outer edge of the unit. Horizontally, the plate is slightly adjustable. A minimum distance of half a foot from the ceiling must be kept so that the air can flow properly. I draw the height of the upper holes with the help of a level. The wall bracket can be easily detached from the plastic unit. It clips on at the bottom. I use the bracket to mark all holes exactly. I use a 5 mm masonry drill with a Bosch Hammer to make the holes. When drilling indoors I use the Kärcher wet & dry vacuum cleaner to catch most of the dust. In case you are interested, I will link all tools below in the video description. By the way, the rawl plugs and screws were not included. Now I will prepare to drill the 65mm hole in the wall. First I mark the position of the hole. You will find the distances for the hole in the installation manual, they are different for each unit. I use a long masonry drill to pre-drill the shank hole. I make sure that the hole is angled on a downward slope. When the guiding hole is all set, I set up the 65mm concrete shank drill bit and start making the hole little by little. Every few inches I empty out the drill. I drill from the inside out as far as I can get. This wall is 40 cm thick. You can get a longer drill bit or drill from the outside. Thanks to the guide hole, I know where to drill. I am making sure the inner and outer holes are matching up nicely. This drill bit wasn't that expensive and it worked pretty good so I will link it in the description. Now, it’s time to go back inside. I connect all cables and wires to the indoor unit, starting with the power cable. Here you can open the maintenance cover, underneath is a cover for the power terminal. All wires are labeled which makes connecting very easy. The wiring on this unit is all set so now I reclose it. I lay the indoor unit on the floor so that I can lay all the cables out and line it up directly under the hole in the wall. Next, I roll out the copper lines and try to get them as straight as possible. Next I will connect the coolant lines to the inside unit.

I have a mechanical engineering background (I am not an engineer) and I work on AC systems. You explained the installation process crystal clear, the job was done professionally and super clean. Cudos, good job!
😂 😂 😂
I have multiple mechanical experience, and I learned to do test, before final assembling of pipes or wirings. Whole system might changed for something reason. Here in Finland assembler need licence for that job. Advice for buyer: You can found manuals of many AC syntems for comparison from internet.

Becareful!
i have never ever watched this types of crystal clear AC installing. such a good job

Franchement installateur méticuleux qui n'oublie pas les détails ,travail propre ,finition de premier choix ,merci tank yoo .
I love how you neatly managed the outlets and wire. The cherry on the cake was that bundle cable which gave it a clean single pipe look. Loved it, would install it the same way.
Very thorough and amazing procedure. Many russian installers should be learn from you. Thank you.
Installation magic !!!! You inspired me to do it excatly as you showed. It all went perfectly fine, withouth any issue whatsoever.. And all is working fine the second year now , and i have zero issues. Really really good work, and installers should learn from this...
When so called " pro " installers came, and saw, how i did it ( based on this video ) , they were completely schocked by the details and all. THANK YOU SO MUCH for percision guidance... Great respect.
this is a really nice comment and I was very happy to read it, I am so glad that this video helped you to save money but most importantly inspired you, thank you for getting back to me to let me know, have a great day and God bless
@@CarlTheLandscapeGuyis your unit still working today?
I can tell you, that my unit still works. I was guided by instructions , videos.. Amazing. I have 0 issues, done as it is supposed to be done by all pro installers. But unfortunately so called " pro installers " do not want to do it like that. It consumes time, accurate measurments, detailed approach...
Few told me , that never ever, they would do it like that for clients. Only for themselfes at home, but for clients no.. And this makes me sad, and made at the same time. Because they charge installation work really high price.
As i said allready - Carl inspired me really a lot.
I have also repaired - redoo installation at my parrents house and they are super satisfied.
Since installation was redone, the ac unit starts to heat or cool much faster, and consumption is lower, then it was.
Amazing guidance, very accurate guidance, and huge huge inspiration for me.
@@bokiboki3259 awesome! Thanks for the update!
You are grate man do you know how many peoples watched your video and become professional in AC and they said we are experienced of many years when they talking to customers.
Many thanks to you
I did this work for years, you have talent, you should work with a professional, get your internship done, let someone else run the landscape business and go to work in refrigeration, learn the tricks of the trade, I learned one from you I never seen, very impressive 1st ever installation! I would hire you in a second, teach you, Tweak the install just a little, you could make enormous amounts of money! great job,
What was it you learned the 3 inch PVC pipe to hide the line set?
Bhul
This type of perfect installation i have never seen before.I too will follow the same procedure in future in our future premises.
It seems your are an perfect technician & learnt a lot of things from you
Thanks
true
Are you for real?
Great video.. learnt alot
Tiny tip: if you put the crows foot at a right angle to the torque wrench, you won’t affect the torque value. That’s how you keep the torque accurate.. I’m an aircraft engineer so we use torque wrenches all the time
Gas is not Rileze bro installation is good
Watching this after I bought my first mobile airconditioner 3 in 1 BTU7000, and it sucks, this split outside unit is tha bomb and you are a real pro man, probz 👊🏽💪🏽
This was amazing. Never thought so much work needs to be done for a spotless installation. Manufactures need to learn from you b4 training their executives. Wish they could do 50% of what you did.
Very nice work net and clean thanks for the demo.
Carl, Maybe you know by now but I did not read anyone making comment on, that you are not getting the proper torque on your flare nuts when you use the Crows Foot adapter, the way you did it would increase the torque, you must understand that the torque is measured from the center of where you attach the socket, it is measured from the center of the square to the pivot point on the handle and if there is no pivot point then it is measure from about the center of the handle where your hand covers. You can use a Crows Foot but you must have the crows foot at a 90 degree not straight out from the end, if you do straight out you are without question putting a HIGHER Torque on the fittings. Fittings have a min. and max. Torque value. and we must keep it in that range. Hope this helps and also for all your RUclipsr friends other than that you did a GREAT job. Thank you!
He specifically mentions this.
@@reedschadegg9023 If so I didn't see it and he has my apologies. He did a great job explaining the whole thing and I am sorry if I screwed up.
Most AC units here in Bulgaria come with free installation by a qualified technician, which I very much appreciate. By no means does that stop me from watching installation videos though :D By now I have watched maybe 15-20 videos, and out of them, yours look the most professional (except for the vacuuming part). At first it even seemed like a bit of an overkill to me, because of all the extra insulation, but I do believe that it will greatly benefit the energy efficiency, so it's good. Thank you for sharing this experience with the world!
The cost of installation is always higher than the air conditioner in HK. I think the price of standard installation and the air conditioner are combined in your country.
There is no such thing like free lunch!
You demonstrated good preparation and understanding of what’s required prior to the implementation of the step by step installation. Majority of the HVAC technicians don’t do the correct way of insulating the influent and effluent line like you did. In addition you installed isolator under the condenser unit to minimized vibration. Good job and thank you for sharing!
This guy is a definition of a useful man
It seems that you have blown mystery buble around AC installation.
I am glad to see your video.
THANK YOU👍
Thank you for demonstrating the correct way of installing a split type aircon. 👏👏👏👏 👍👍👍👍
Thank you very much for such a beautiful demonstration. Please how may download this video? I really need it for my personal study.
Good breathar thar you gues
Not all of us have their father around so you really inspired me to learn this stuff for my self and teach it to my kids if I ever have some thank you sr
This is exactly why it is often better to do it the DIY way than hire in a "professional". You took more time, had more eye for detail and at the and have a better than professional installation. Very clean and good installation, I am sure you will have much pleasure of This unit for years to come, well done👍👍👍
😍😍😍🌹🌹🌹Greetings from the air conditioner manufacturer from China
Good video. Completely illegal to DIY here in Australia but I think I could do it after watching.
I am from India. Value addition is through skilled person and proper tools usage. Good narration with video synchronize. Long live thanks.
I am pretty sastified with your neat and perfect spectacular aligned installation. But i think if you get the connections of cooper tubes underneath indoor unit .The connecting flare nut could leak the referigerant in future. You have to remove all the installation kit to re flare leakages. I am also pro installation technician. I make hole left side of the indoor the connections will always easy to remove indoor unit for washing purpose or maintenance. And also hidden from sight.
I hope you got my point.
Your professional skills appreciated and admirable. God bless you.
Ko
The best part was inserting the long pipe on the hole! I did the same installation to a lady the other day she love it!
Yes, Agree with all other commenters in the feed very clean and precise job, hats off. This is how you install when you do it for yourself no commercial installer will do a good job like this for you because he needs to do one more installation with the time and material that is used in this installation so he can max his income :-) no offense to the commercial installers.
Well done.
Thank you for putting the time and effort in making and sharing this video with the audience this is mush appreciated.
I've been studying battery reconditioning and found an awesome website at Magic Mender Wizard (google it if you're interested)
UNBELIEVABLE...U R DA BEST !!!!! I thought I knew it all, but I realized I have a long way to go and learn from you... Thank you very much... If I need one in the future I'll call you, since I'll be relocating very soon.. thanks again
Just one problem : testing system for leaks ? Suppose you have a leak after line set is fully connected ???
Yupp , even with the best intention's of doing a great install from licensed hvac company . leakes do occur.
The rest of this video was top notch.
And thank you for pasting knowledge forward.
Yep. Have to put a holding charge of nitrogen and wait. Also not sure why he wouldn't show at least some of the process of putting a vacuum on the system and stressing the importance of actually pumping down for a long time. Getting a 30 foot line set down to nearly 500 mic can take quite awhile.
@@thecrackrabbit9531 yes, i did my best not too make a guy taking time to past forward feel bad.
Yes he failed also to as you noted ; vacuum to 500 microns , plus pressure test plus making impossible if a has a leak to get to it.
Thank you , hope u also keep passing it forward
@@joemartinez7619 Ok so I looked into it and apparently Mr. Cool has some special valve tech in the connections on their lineset. They come "pre-vacuumed" so as to not need to be pumped down. Still myself I am not a fan of Mr. Cool. Mostly because if you do have some sort of failure of any kind there won't be anything at your local supply house to actually be able to get you running again. It will come down to ordering it and from who knows where and who knows how long it will take.
@@joemartinez7619 Oh and to reply to your too much lineset comment. The units come with a factory charge setup with the actual intended lineset length.
@@thecrackrabbit9531 interesting. I understand they say there line set comes pre vacuumed. I understand some line sets come pre charged.
In the perfect world conditions. Lol
Ask any hvac or hvacr tect. ? " about in a perfect world " lol.
To many non perfect world things that happen .
When connecting your flare nuts chances of a vacuumed leak ; rather more like lose of vacume is more like. it .
How do u know ? If you lost your pre vacuume ? Air and moisture sucked in by vacume break when connecting flare nuts.
Only way to know if you have a leak is presure test or proforming a complete vacume to 500 microns and holding for a hour : the more time you hold to see if pressure changes.
No other way.
Now of course you may also connect your line set and open both valves and check pressure/ temperature let it sit for a few hr's to a few days : depends how smal or big of a leak you may have.
Now also if u contaminated system with air and moisture it would show on ur gauges too .
How ever this is to be done by a licensed individual.
I do not advice any diy or non license havc to try it.
First time i see someone takes the time to insulate the outer cables. very professional. all the installers here leave it as it is. just to finish the job and get it over with. that's why no one can do it better then you. One question though: regarding the water hoze (where water will come out from) => how will you clean mold inside it? (it eventually comes).
Super installation, precisely executed work. However, there is one rather important shortcoming. Vacuuming of the pipe was not done to remove all the moisture. This is an important thing in order to avoid degradation of the coolant in the system and subsequent poor functionality of the system.
At 24.00 he gets a vacuum of -0.97 bar. Is that not sufficient?
Over here you re requires to have a vacuum of 270 psi or less, that maintains itself for 30 minutes to two hours depending on how much refrigerant the system needs.
By far the best ac installation video on the internet.. everyone would want their ac installed this way..neat ,clean and attention to detail.. good job brother
Best installation guide I have ever seen in youtube so far.
Hi there!I don't know what country u r from, still I can tell u this installation went clean from A 2 Z!! I'm fom France and did quite the same than u(15 years ago),with 3 indoor units.Let me tell u this vid was extremely good, and I'm sure it's gonna help many guys to do the same!I'm glad and proud 2 c some people still r doing great job!Very very nice job,Mister!!!
thank you Jean, you know what you talking about so I appreciate the comment
Fantastic! This easy to follow and clear instructional video convinced me to bite the bullet and pay somebody else to do it😆
I'm from Brazil, and here the instalation way, it's kind different, and some tools we haven't unfortunately, nice job!!!
Great job and very clean installation. People please use a vice when cutting with any kind of cutting disc and powered tool. Seen people loose fingers trying to cut like you did when splitting the 90 degree bend pvc.
Waz
Well if their fingers are loose they should tighten them with the torque wrench
in order the condensation water drip into the plastic pipe in indoor unit, you need some degree to tilt the bracket toward the output flow right into the pipe. just to make it sure, glad you make it crystal clear explanation.
India AC installation guy doesn't even fulfill 10% of what this guy has done..hats off to the level of perfection..it was so damn precise!
then buddy, u have only met to ones that do the "chalu kaam" 😂 but trust me india do have so manyy professional good techs too.
Excellent video! Unfortunately my country requires separate certification for AC and electrical installation, but at least now I can check to see that the installer does a proper job.
This video was so great and well put together. Truthfully shows what it takes to install this unit. Honestly, it made me realize that I don't want to do this myself but was haha.
Just a tip if your not going to crimp the ends of your incoming power cable to the outside unit should deffo loop around the screw before tightening just due to the vibration of the unit they will become loose and if there not looped round they don't have as much contact area to prevent arcing if a gap opens up. 👍
okay maybe I will do so next time thank you for your feedback and have a great day
You are fantastic, Carl the Landscape Guy! Very clear and professionally narrated video, thank you for helping us save a ton of electricity with our heating. Your English language ability is astonishing by the way.
thank you for your nice comment I am glad if it helped you
I like the way you insulate all the pipes! Well done!
thank you, next time i would insulate both pipes seperately, thats more efficient

Very nice installation especially how you passed the cooper from the outside in to a pipe very nice job my friend
I didnt see when you have to open de valves with Allen keys in the compressor unit. besides that NICE JOB! Very good and clean job. and the best thing, you have good tools. I always judge a technician by his tools. Impressive!!
I am not at all a handyman. But this is EXCELLENT! I really enjoyed it Great work. He made the installation a breeze. Bravo!
A good idea is to use lock washers or nuts with neoprene inserts and install nuts from the bottom in case nut does fall off the bolt will not fall but will keep the unit from moving off the bracket !
You forgot the only part of releasing the compressor valve for the suction and discharge line . That was very important before run the unit . By the way your installation is very well done sir 👍🏻😊
you mean to flood the copper lines?
yes i added an update video on my channel

Thank you very much for sharing how to install a very complete air conditioner
your welcome, thanks
This video got recommended to me for some reason. Now i have a basic idea how to install an ac unit of this kind. Thanks!!
You really showed me the difference between a company installed air conditioner and a self installed one. Yours is the professional one.!
Man I gotta say, but that was an awesome install. I absolutely love the way you payed attention to detail. You it did so neatly and tidy especially with the outdoor PVC piping and brown plastic housing for the power cord... 🧰👍 For some reason regular installers do it in 5 minutes without all them beauty covers and what not, plus they dont even install all the parts in - in my case they didnt put back the metal cover inside the main unit where the AC power lines go, so I had to put it back in myself... I always keep hearing "we're in hurry/there isn't enough time etc. etc" uurrrggggg 😠 What a load of nonsense/rubbish! - its simply no one wants to do it quality and just trys to half-ass it... which is unfortunate indeed 😔. As the saying goes, "Sometimes you gotta' dump the baby out with the bathwater" - ironic isn't it...
Very informative video. Just by using other materials such as the PVC pipe and the insulation windings. Also by using some tricks you never see on other self placed airco's. Even not by proffesional installation videos. Thanks for that because I will use those tricks also.
thanks, i am glad if this video helps you 👍
Excellent installation. fully trouble free service.
The only thing im not so sure its how you run all the wires to power up

Your video is probably one of kind that connected AC correct. I would've use a vaccum machine to boil all water out from the evaporator.
This is what I call a perfect job. Well done, and thanks for making this video.
Basic chinese model with MIDEA compressor. But a decent machine nonetheless. Recently installed one for a friend. Good operation and reasonable noise levels.
Of course - nothing in common with the Mitsubishi Electric FH-Series (RW-Series), but 1/4 the price. No more can be asked. Covers competently all the right boxes.
The join should be installed indoors because if the join is stored in the wall when general service is difficult to open the join and dont forget vacum the unit -30 min
good point 👍
Nice. The extra grey insulation should be wrapped from the bottom up to the indoor unit. So that the overlap faces down, preventing rainwater getting inside.
Melhor instalação que já vi, saudações do Brasil.

Super good work done 💯... Clean installation ever seen
We must remember that a very important part of heating and cooling is also ventilation. I would prefer a ducted system where I can install a high quality air filter and bring an fresh oxygen from outdoor to create a positive pressure in my occupied space. I would also want to be able to incorporate humidity in the heating season and fresh air intake. Without fresh air intake your indoor air quality decreases significantly. And you run a risk of running a negative pressure and you're occupied space which is unhealthy and inefficient for heating or Cooling.
Great job! Put the condensed water to coil for more efiiciency. I make this with mobile airconditionet converted from 1 hose to 2 hoses.
