    This car looks very good in sedan version, but there are many beautiful sedans. The wagon version, however, is utterly impressive, because wagons are usually worse proportioned and more utilitarian, but 508 is not. Audi A6 avant is more expensive than 508, but looks way more crude and passive-agressive, while peugeot is fresh dynamic and agressive, but its authentic, natural vibe of agression without being too pretentious.

    Great review: This is a tasty bit of kit. If it had been available last year I may have bought one instead of my brilliant Peugeot 3008 SUV. In answer to your question regards using the touch screen to adjust temperature at 70mph Brian, you get used to it quite quickly. As you are aware, everytime you touch the +/- pads there is a musical note/beep. Each note represents a half degree increase or decrease; so without taking your eyes off the road you merely count the number of beeps. If you are the sole occupant you switch the temp control to "mono", which then means the driver controls both sides. Works for me.

    I agree that you are a great reviewer and cover the things that matter in day-to-day ownership and usage. I am absolutely in love with the 508 SW and looking at it from the back, it hardly looks like an estate at all. I am glad you brought up the complaint about the enhanced sporty noises made through the speaker system when in Sport - I find that annoying in all cars that feature them. So here's a word of advice to Peugeot, BMW, Mercedes and the others - give owners a switch to disable the sound enhancement when driving in Sport, please! Great review and yes, if I was going to buy an estate, the 508 SW would be my pick! Bravo, Peugeot!

    I have a 3008, and the thing about the climate control is total BS. After a week it's super easy to use, and most of new Peugeot owners I know use the auto setting anyway. Also I can't see how fiddling with the knobs down there is better then pressing a screen button in your line of sight. Also the driver unit, once you set it, you change it once in a while. Seems like the reviewers are the only people on earth that constantly play with screens while driving. Another strange thing that they never tell, is that the arm rest compartment is a huge cooler,t hat can fit huge amounts of beverages and food. I guess Audi drivers screen is much better, but taking the price difference, Peugeot is the most tech advanced car in the market for the buck.

      @Duskconqueror 5 лет назад +3

      @Mr. Commonsense 350 HP Hybrid R is likely to come next year. That would be the sedan. It would absolutely love it if Peugeot took the 308 Hybrid R driveline (270 HP 1.6 combined with 3 electric motors for a total of 500 HP) and made a 508 SW Hybrid R by Peugeot Sport. Make it darty, sporty, keep it lightweight and comfortable. I know they can do it. There might be a gigantic lack of customers for it though.

    • @NuttaPearl
      @NuttaPearl 5 лет назад +5

      Ibrahim Seck Car manufacturers are more and more forced to downsize the engines due to lower CO2 emission demands. Also brands like Audi and BMW are not where Peugeot will steal the customers from. For instance, VW are really stuggeling, and have noe decided to go all electric within 2026. Big engines are something that belongs to the museums. There are other ways to get efficiency and power than V6 engines. Welcome to the future!

    I love my PUG First Edition which was the flagship model until Peugeot brought out the new PSE electric model, which I'd never purchase. Petrol & Diesel is the way. My PUG is in Twilight Blue with Red Napa Leather the colour combination really works well. The bodywork styling in amazing from any angle you look at it from. The cockpit is amazing for anyone who is 5 foot to 6 foot plus the leg room is good in any seat to choose to sit in. The boot space is great with its 530 odd litres of space the wife says so because she fills in up every time she goes shopping. The frame less windows are a very nice touch, but in the rain its not a good idea & in the winter months the glass freezes to the door rubbers making it hard to open the vehicle up, as the windows drop 5 to 10mm so the doors can be opened.

    • @RosarioTayoReed
      @RosarioTayoReed 3 месяца назад +1

      I'd got a Full Maxton Design Body kits to got on the vehicle & BC Monoblock bespoke rims to go on the vehicle as well. Beware the lacquer is very soft & will mark up very easily so wash with caution straight line washing NOT circles or you'll end up with millions of paint swirls which will look hideous in daylight & sun light. My First Edition SW is only 1 of 23 in the UK hence it took me over nine months to find one. put the vehicle in Sport mode its rapid trust me, yes lane assist is dangerous I've turned mine off. Speed well getting up to speed is effortless I mean you just don't realise you are up to speed in know time, even on the motorway the speed is so rapid even when you are not even flooring the vehicle. Price sadly the Peugeot does not hold its price for my 46k from new 18 months later 25k so not good value on resale, which clearly shows customers in the UK are clearly being ripped off by government.

    This car is not perfect (like every cars) but is really good looking for my taste and as an estate model it's a family car so if you care about your family check the crash tests and you'll see this car is one of the best. The driving is one of the best (if not the best) in this class too, and the price is cheaper than his competitors (for the same features). The only problem it's if you want a big engine, V6 or so..

    Nice car, but dark and cramped inside with your head hitting roof surround. You can see why non-car enthusiasts, when they then get into a SUV after this, find so much more headroom and higher seats for their family, and now buy them instead of a sedan or estate. On this review, the front camera view when driving not so good as usual, sorry; and most of the driving video was of Brian's face!

    we all like fresh/new/different but do we really buy them at the end of the day ? if we really want to encourage manufacturers to offer more stylish/different(inside and out) cars i think we should make some practically sacrifices and go for those cars. i really am afraid that in near future all cars will look the same and some brands will cease to exist because they wanted to offer smthng different and lost a lot of money as a result.

    • @johnwet6969
      @johnwet6969 4 года назад +1

      Are you sure? I did not measure 308 SW boot, but I measured 508 SW and Golf and Passat Variant boots. Škoda Octavia is the same story. And it was funny. My Golf has 605l on paper, but 440l usable space in reality with floor in lower position what is not very pleasant for manipulation with heavier stuff. Passat same story, only little bit bigger. 508 SW has 530l on paper and 530 in reality. Boot is 13 cm wider than all competitors above, what is more practical. Floor is in optimal position. Usable hight is 50 cm and can be more, because boot cover is not fixed in fist 2/3 of the travel. 508 SW boot was one of the reasons, why I ordered one instead of Passat. Another was riding comfort and safety, engine character and transmission and so on. 308 SW is one of the best car for the money. Fantastic results in moose test, good comfort, practicality. I was thinking of 308 SW too, but I don't like its ergonomics without buttons, also design is not great for me and finally they removed 2.0 HDI from this line and I can't order it. And I have to order one, so I choose the 508 SW GT 2.0 HDI.

However from what I saw, then the subwoofer would be right in the dogs face. Enough for me as a dog person to disregard this car. Somehow you missed this very important point for dog owners so for me your test failed....if you are as you said, testing a car that people with lids and dogs are buying. Nice design over all, but the walruss tusks and the wheels kind of ruin it. Those are some ugly wheels. And from the rear it looks redicusly high up from the ground. Cool interior though. Except for those sloooooooooooow animations and touchscreen dependencies.
    I have to say though - I think most wagons looks better than their sedan counterpart. Most sedans today have a tiny little bootlid. At best it's long enough, but slopes so it looks like it's dragging it's as in the ground (Yes thinking of you, Mercedes CLA). Wagons always have a natural way to join the lines in the rear. Except for you, CLA Shooting Break. You look like an 90's Elantra with makeup ;)

    Why is he holding a 90s like microphone?

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  5 лет назад

      haha =) We ll record a special episode for that!
      We use handheld microphones in situations where we want to cut out background noise you are then not hearing - or in situations with interview partners where it is better to switch between those people then. We don’t do anything without intention :) The big microphone is furthermore way better than anything else u could record camera sound with. Always the best quality for you without noise. In general the big microphone delivers a way better, clear and crisp sound than the small one which is more pleasant to listen to, especially if a video is going over a longer period of time. Even the ASMR effect works better with the big mic. If you watch some other reviews or every driving part of a review, you ll see that we also have a couple of small lavalier microphones which are also high class, and of course we use that for driving because the big one wouldn’t be safe there. Still, we adapt to the situation and strive for getting the audible experience for you. With the handheld, you can make it calm and silent when the background is noisy. Sometimes you see what’s going on in the background, sometimes you wouldn’t expect what annoying sounds would be picked up. Another reason is the branding for the big microphones since our videos are also being stolen, downloaded uploaded etc. so we at least have our branding there in situations we cannot completely control. Also in general it is good to have a nice branding on location and in the video. So you see there are numerous good reasons for us to use it.

But as a car sales man i get really frustrated when people sit in a car where i can fit just perfectly (im not talkning about comfort, just space) and are maybe 10-15 cm shorter then me (im 192 cm long) and sayes '' its to small'' or '' i dont fit''. then i get inside and dont understand how that is possible.. and yes.
