I believe that by not setting clear boundaries, they allow themselves to have more flexibility with regard to their decision-making and it allows them to adapt their choices to the situation and its consequences. Their motives might be politically and/or financially charged, and they don't want people to know that. I mean, the extreme right has pretty much been banned from all social media platforms (even though its counterpart isn't), but platforms don't want to explicitly state that they're politically biased in order to prevent a lot of fools from being disillusioned. The gist was that they want it to be somewhat vague so people are scared and don't push the limits too much. Otherwise if it's fully transparent, people would A/B test to push the limits as far as they can, which is just a problem for the platform.

I believe that by not setting clear boundaries, they allow themselves to have more flexibility with regard to their decision-making and it allows them to adapt their choices to the situation and its consequences. Their motives might be politically and/or financially charged, and they don't want people to know that. I mean, the extreme right has pretty much been banned from all social media platforms (even though its counterpart isn't), but platforms don't want to explicitly state that they're politically biased in order to prevent a lot of fools from being disillusioned. The same goes for Reddit, Twitter (pre Musk) etc.
