  • Introducing an exciting new BTech programme in Mathematics and Computing at IISc.
This new undergraduate programme seeks to enter a niche area with the aim of producing future leaders who will be at the forefront of research, development, and innovation in futuristic disciplines and next generation technologies that require deep use of mathematics, computer science, and data science.
The core of the programme spread over four semesters includes six courses each in Mathematics and Computing areas apart from courses in the sciences, humanities, and other engineering disciplines. Study tracks have been designed in Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Computational Science, Theoretical Computer Science, Quantum Computing, Signal Processing, Computational Biology and Mathematical Finance. Students can opt for Research/Industry projects in their fourth year. They can also obtain a M.Tech. degree by taking an additional year of course and project credits.
The programme hopes to attract some of the best young minds across the nation qualifying through the JEE Advanced examination. There is much hunger and demand in the industry for such an offering. Students from this programme will be sought after as graduate students across the globe. The location of IISc in Bengaluru, the tech hub of India will be an additional bonus.

Will have a lifetime regret of not putting enough effort to crack into a good research institute. The problem with most coaching institutes, including the one I went to, is that the only motivation they give us is the lucrative jobs that campuses like these offer. Not once they talk about the numerous research opportunities available. My only motivation to prepare for JEE was to get a good job. While I do have a pretty decent job but the knowledge and experience I would have gained in those institutes would have been priceless. I'm not saying I would have done better if I knew about the other opportunities, but I would have at least put more effort. Money can be a good motivator, but these things are far more effective.

With high cutoffs & limited seats still, it's the Indian Institute of Science. You have to be the best in the country and then you're worth understanding their course, yes I know it is a quite complex mental problem somewhere deep down the visible roots of such institutes. They must know the seriousness of the words they put in here, you don't choose students, students choose you. Don't produce leaders with toppers. Just offer the courses to young minds.

How the subject namely, Mathematics comes under the group of Technology? As I under stood, Mathematics and Computers are tools for Engineers, where as drawing is the language of Engineers.
I took both ME Degree (during the year 1988) and PhD Degree ( during the year 2007) from Civil Engg Dept, IISc, Bangalore.

Please also note that the SC,ST rank is high as Annual Fees for IISc is quite high for most of the people to afford. Around 2Lakhs/annum. 2.15Lakhs to be exact.
Only 40 seats for male students. Where girls can even participate. Assuming that 5 more seats have been taken by girls and 65% are reserved for category.
    SC: 7 seats
    ST: 4 seats
    GEN(open/EWS): 15 seats
Others are OBC NCL and PWD.
From my prediction, and also due to NIRF ranking. Either it's cutoff would be (expected) (category)
    GEN (open): 50-100 AIR
    SC: 100-300 Sc rank (5000-8000AIR)
    ST: 100-200 ST rank (4000-9000AIR)
    For girls assume,

I wish they reduced the cutoff for general male students :( it's really unfair, even general females are getting much easier cutoffs but general boys walo se itna expect kar rhe hai.. sc/st aur dusre categories ka toh pucho mat kitni chhut de rhe hai unhe..
I love this college, it's my dream and passion, but reserved aur unreserved categories ke cutoffs ke beech ka difference dekh kar sirf gussa aata hai aap logo par... Why such discrimination?
Mujhse hazaro rank zyada lakar bi jab koi yaha ja sakta hai toh bebas aur gussa feel na karke kya hi karu..

JNU is no longer in demand because of it's anti nationalist students and professors. They never talk about technology. Very shameful to say that anti nationals are in JNU.
IISC is ❤️ and dream for every science and engineering students.
