  • Unlock BETTER BALL STRIKING and control with the "KNUCKLES DOWN Release Pattern!" Say goodbye to your slice as we dive into WRIST MECHANICS. Your SLICE FIX is in YOUR HANDS guys Hit the driving range and start hitting DRAWS on the golf course!! GET AFTER IT!!
Most golfers struggle with WEAK PALM GRIPS leading to an OPEN CLUB FACE. Strengthen your grip for a SQUARE to slightly CLOSED club face throughout your swing. Watch out for INTERNAL rotation of the trail shoulder or a FLYING TRAIL ELBOW at the top of your backswing! This causes lead wrist EXTENSION and OPENS the club face! Ensure your trail elbow points DOWN at the top of your backswing and your lead wrist is FLATTER than it was at address.
To eliminate that slice, turn your knuckles DOWN during the transition by TWISTING the club counter clockwise. This flattens (FLEXES) the lead wrist and CLOSES the club face. Maintain this FLEXION/ROTATION as you approach impact for SOLID ball contact! The goal is to have your lead wrist more FLEXED (Flatter) at impact than it was at the top! Do this and you will SLAY THE SLICE forever!!

As a total amateur, this one singular piece of advice added at least 50 yards of distance on my Driver.

Another great video! Thank you! I built a simulator with a launch monitor about 18 months ago and it definitely helps a ton with understanding the face, path, and ball flight. Oddly though, once you understand those relationships well enough, see enough data, and watch enough shots then the launch monitor data is no longer necessary. I’m a data nerd though and definitely needed it in the beginning. AOA and dynamic loft have also been unbelievably helpful. Now I need to practice putting! I have honestly been blown away by how little great ball striking has improved my score. Don’t get me wrong, it helps and makes the game more fun and less frustrating, but it definitely highlights where the majority of strokes actually come from.

Get off the range and hit the golf course!! Play a three ball scramble on your own (9 holes) no judgements! Just keep picking the best of three. That’s your scoring potential!! Do that 3 times, lose a ball - do the same with your own two ball scramble. Then lose a ball!
Pay attention to how freely you swing with three balls?! Keep a journal! What did the good shot feel like? What’s the pattern, what’s your emotional state. What decisions are you recalibrating when you have more than one crack at each shot?Pay attention!!
Finally - Take what you learned and apply those skills to one ball only!! Your scores WILL drop GUARANTEED! NO ONE is doing this!
Keep me posted! And, get after it!

Andrew, I'm a lifelong golfer and a low single digit handicap. It's safe to say, watching your videos over the past few weeks have revolutionized my ball striking. Your emphasis on the arms and hands (as opposed to the body) makes the golf swing so simple to replicate! My understanding of your instruction has energized my joy of striking the ball and thereby playing this game that we all love. Thank you thank you thank you! Keep up the great work.

Hi Andrew! Nice video as always. I know my issue was low hooks and we’ve made changes to my grip the other day, now a bit on the weaker side. We were now seeing high slices with my long irons and driver and we talked about being able to better release now with my new grip. Do I need to start doing this flat wrist knuckles down approach? Used to do cupped wrist with knuckles up with my strong grip if you remember. Or is it beause of my handle dragging like you pointed out before? Im just concerned im gonna revert back to low hooks when I try this knuckles down. Thanks and looking forward to our next lesson

question: do you do the same thing with the driver and fairway wood? The irons are logically good but the woods....? Great video and great information for the irons

I would say you need to exaggerate the knuckles down even more with the driver. In my experience golfers transition spin more with the longer clubs dragging the handle and opening the club face. Keep your back to the target as long as possible and work on your verticals (arms) turning your knuckles down a lot earlier than you would normally and you’ll be shocked t how well you’ll hit it!
Remember the greatest instructor in the world is the golf ball!! Let the ball be your guide as to whether you need to do this more or less!! If you’re hooking the ball then you’re over doing it!

The great Sir Henry Cotton insisted that Open to Shut was the way to a pain free swing that lasts a lifetime. Neutral grip with a little cup at the top then educate your hands.

Andrew is it fair to say that if I’m a slicer when I’m using wedges and low irons I don’t need to focus on the knuckles down as much but with high irons and driver I should focus on getting those knuckles down early?

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf
      @AndrewEmeryGolf  6 месяцев назад +1

The golf ball isn’t influenced by side axis spin close to as much with the lofted irons! In other words the pattern is the same but the ball won’t slice as much! It’s super hard to curve the wedges!!
To answer - yes, you will have to focus more on knuckles down as you hit the longer clubs. The longer the club the earlier you’ll want to feel like your knuckles are turning down!
      Thanks for watching!

@@AndrewEmeryGolf I watched a vid of a very famous coach (whose name escapes me) and he kept using the phrase Spinning the trail arm but he could not adequately explain what that meant. As usual you were clear as a bell in describing your concept. Thanks again.
