“SLING IT! // Mastering SWING SPEED in 3 SIMPLE Steps!!”

  • UNLOCK the secrets to INCREASED SWING SPEED with this transformative golf vid! Many golfers struggle with EXCESSIVE body movement in the downswing, leading to tied-up arms and a LACK of SPEED! In this video, I guide you through three simple steps to help you "SLING THE CLUB" to more SPEED with LESS effort!
    *STEP 1 - Hands & Arms:*
    QUIET YOUR BODY and focus on the swinging motion of your HANDS and ARMS. Hinge, unhinge, and re-hinge the golf club, paying attention to the tension in your wrists, elbows, and shoulders. By isolating these movements, you'll promote a FREER SWING without interference from an overenthusiastic body.
    *STEP 2 - Pivot:*
    Enhance your turn by pivoting with your RIBS and OBLIQUES. This engages the pelvis, pulling the trail hip back towards the trail heel. These actions contribute to INCREASED DEPTH and a superior turn in the backswing, setting the stage for a more powerful swing!
    *STEP 3 - Sling It!:*
    Maintain the same sensations as Step 2, but add the dynamic element of SLINGING THE CLUB from the top while keeping your body CLOSED! As the arms work down, feel the club head move away from you, maximizing the potential for speed. Allow the SWING’S MOMENTUM to naturally involve your body as you turn through the ball, achieving MORE SPEED with LESS EFFORT and reducing STRESS on your back and hips.
    Incorporate these SIMPLE STEPS into your practice sessions, and watch your GOLF game undergo a remarkable TRANSFORMATION. Say goodbye to the struggles of overusing your body and hello to a more efficient and powerful swing!
    Get after it!

    Jack Nicholas always talked about keeping his back to the target a long as possible, this is why. And look how long he played with no back pain. The new swings are causing back problems with even the elites, just took much torque on the back, and they train daily. Great video, excellent instruction!!!

    11:01 Fantastic video. That' s actually what I have been working on for a few sessions. Very difficult for me to transition from weight on the back heel in the backswing to weight on the front heel at completion of the downswing...I "lose it" and end up often with my weight falling forward towards the ball (not the target) and not naturally flowing into the follow through like you do on the front heel. Any sugeestions most welcome! Cheers

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf
      @AndrewEmeryGolf  7 месяцев назад

      Very difficult to say why without a look. But I’ve often found that the simplest answers are very often in the set up!! I can’t tell you how many golfers stand too far from the golf ball. Try scooting in a little - then make some swings at 50% working on kicking the ground through your lead heel at impact!

    Appreciate your no nonsense insight- not sure how much “sling” is left in this 68 year old - so you shouldn’t try to maintain the angle in the downswing?

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf
      @AndrewEmeryGolf  7 месяцев назад +1

      The faster you get your arms off your chest in transition the more LAG you’ll create!! It’s a real misconception that tying the arms to the body and spinning your way to the ball creates lag!!
      Here’s a lesson I gave that was transformative and demonstrates my point!! 👇👇
      ruclips.net/video/0xXstNV6_hA/видео.htmlsi=VCv5YAcf3Wnacgwx
      You’re NOT slinging your wrists in transition, you’re slinging your upper arm, lower arm and then your wrists!!
      Remember to keep your back to the target and allow your arms to employe your body (Step 3) as you swing to a balanced finish!!

    Good morning Andrew, great video as always. Working on changing my movement pattern to become more arm driven, as you know I've had a huge body driven swing, but I'm making progress. One question, and it's probably a really minor point. When you start your downswing (and I know that starting the downswing is a combination of movements), you shift slightly your left foot position (at 10:11 in the video) , opening it just a little bit. Is that a result of the downswing, or a way to allow a better finish onto the left leg.
    Thanks, all the best,
    Jeff

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf
      @AndrewEmeryGolf  7 месяцев назад

      Hi Jeff, it’s something I’m not conscious of when I’m swinging. I have very limited internal hip mobility on my left side. When I plant my left foot, my lead foot twists to accommodate that limitation. As I like to say, find what works best for you!!

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf
      @AndrewEmeryGolf  4 месяца назад +1

      Yes sir! Most golfers have so much tension they only feel the grip under their hands. Keep your grip pressure at 5/10 and you’ll feel the weight in the club head.
      Once you start feeling the club head you’ll be off to the races! Swing the club head freely with the support of the body!

    I just gotta stop some help pulling the ball to the left. I’m getting the speed, but I get the pulls and I quite don’t understand how to stop it. Obviously my face is closing too soon and by the time I hit have ball contact my face is shut already, but how do I stop it?

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf
      @AndrewEmeryGolf  7 месяцев назад

      It’s clear your club face is closed but that’s not always a bad thing! A “pull” and a “hook” are not the same swings. Tough to ascertain which one. I can tell you that 80% of golfers struggle with a pull or pull hook meaning over the top rather than stuck underneath!!
      I would start by stalling the ‘spin phase’ in transition. It’s very likely you’re not keeping your back to the target long enough and not allowing your arms to work down enough in transition. If you can (exaggerate) this move and shallow your path with your arms - you can re-calibrate!!
      Thanks for watching!

      Try swinging out from an inside path with a club face closed to the path. Keep closing the club face on each swing until you create a draw. I like to bring my back leg back to give room to swing from inside on the downswing. It's a mental thing that helps me. Similar to Ben Hogan's set up (if only I had his swing!!)

    Been watching your videos for awhile now. My “feel” for supporting the slinging of the club with the body is to remain closed with my shoulders until the club reaches my lead leg (right leg for me as a southpaw). This stops my 73-year-old body from stalling in rotation because my body is following and supporting the slinging of the club instead of intentionally trying to rotate my body to swing the club. Now I don’t look so much like an old fart coming through the ball to the follow through.

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf
      @AndrewEmeryGolf  7 месяцев назад

      Hi Jim!! That’s awesome, you’re getting some energy into the golf club! You’re spot in on the “stall!” 80% of golfers transition spin and have to slam in the breaks too early which causes an early release. Allowing your arms to employe your body is the way to go, especially as we get older and lose mobility!!
      Keep up the good work!
