I say Dylan live os shit because I’ve seen over 200 artists in concert, and Bob is hands down the worst live experience I’ve ever had.
This performance is wonderful, no doubt. But that doesn’t erase the sins of his performance I saw with my own eyes.

    • @slumdogjay
      @slumdogjay Год назад +5

@@mooremiket I’ve seen him 9 times. Only one dodgy show. Seen far worse. Van Morrison was awful. Sisters Of Mercy were so bad I left before the end. Smashing Pumpkins were a complete mess live. The Cranberries almost put me to sleep through lack of stage presence. Placebo were also dull as dishwater. No passion.Though the first time I seen them they were quite good. So one bad Dylan show out of 9 ain’t too bad. That was back in 1991 and he was very drunk on stage.

    • @mooremiket
      @mooremiket Год назад +1

@@slumdogjay I’ve heard the same thing about Van Morrison, how he’s hit or miss. Thankfully, the one time I saw him about 4-5 years ago, he was in tip top shape and put on a heluva show.
I’m happy to be 50-50 when it comes to mercurial performers.
Dylan opened with Rainy Day Women and closed with Like A Rolling Stone. Wonderful renditions of both. The dozen songs in between were middling, unenthusiastic, mid-tempo bores. I knew going in that he changed the music and tempo and voicings of some of his oldest/biggest hits, and I still didn’t know I had witnessed Tangled Up In Blue until I read a review the next day.

the guitarists tried to contain themselves but smiled, however Tony Garnier, Dylan's longest ever bandmate to this day, on bass, just laughed throughout...I understand Bob's reaction in several ways , 1st off he IS Dylan so he's not gonna easily lose composure on stage, he has folks to do that for him and it WAS his big night at the Grammy's..."gotta serve someone" won the male best vocal in 79 but in 97 Dylan's, "time out of mind", won best album, deservedly so...a huge feat for an artist who almost died that year due to heart complications, hadn't released an l.p. of originals since 1990's ill received "under the red sky"...i'd probably be a little tricked or tickled but Bob Dylan "Stood stone faced while the soy bomb burned". ;-)

Then when I saw the security guys come on stage and remove him, it obvious that he wasn't. But Bob and the band were laughing their heads off. Soy only help Bob and the band, because they really loosen them up so they relaxed, had fun, and sounded even better. It was more publicity for Bob! This incident became rock legend! I'm surprised Bob didn't hire him for more gigs or music videos. BTW TBH, Bob didn't flinch much because, he most likely saw many and much more bizzar things during his gigs in the 1960's. Sometimes
The silence can be like thunder
    Sometimes

I remember when a co-worker and fellow guitar player turned me onto Bob D...Time Out of Mind. I remember telling him to go pound salt as Bob D was old and irrelevant. He gave me Time out of Mind, and it is easily one of my favorite records ever. I sat through this shitty award show...with all the crappy speeches and performances just to hear Bob D play. This performance was so epic....I was so upset when that dummy came out and wrecked everything with his Soy Shit and that dumb dance. I have since grown to love the fact that dumbass crashed what might be the greatest live performance ever at an award show. .....MAYBE....the better performance was Marilyn Manson at the MTV awards....that performance by MM was so intense. Anyhow...I love Bob D and Time Out of Mind. This track is so intense and I have grown to appreciate the Soy Bomb dood and think it adds something to the live performance. Epic!!

Between 1996 and 2000 or so,I saw this band probably 5 times. Before those shows, probably 10 times going back to 1979 or 80.
After 2000 maybe 10 more times.
Of all the times I saw him. This era was the best. Great band. Bob was playing incredibly. And it was obvious he was happy and having fun. Singing great.

    estoy caminando
    I'm walkin'
    Por calles que están muertas
    Through streets that are dead
    Entrar'
    Walkin'
    Caminando contigo en mi cabeza
Walkin' with you in my head
    Mis pies están tan cansados
    My feet are so tired
    Mi cerebro está tan conectado
    My brain is so wired
    Y las nubes están llorando
    And the clouds are weepin'
    Hice
    Did I
¿Escuchar a alguien decir una mentira?
    Hear someone tell a lie?
    Hice
    Did I
¿Escuchar el grito lejano de alguien?
    Hear someone's distant cry?
    hablé como un niño
    I spoke like a child
    Me destruiste con una sonrisa
You destroyed me with a smile
    Mientras yo estaba durmiendo
    While I was sleepin'
    estoy harto de amor
    I'm sick of love
Que estoy en el meollo de la misma
That I'm in the thick of it
    este tipo de amor
    This kind of love
    estoy tan harto de eso
    I'm so sick of it
    ya veo
    I see
    Veo amantes en el prado
I see lovers in the meadow
    ya veo
    I see
    Veo siluetas en la ventana
I see silhouettes in the window
Los observo hasta que se van
I watch them 'til they're gone
    Y me dejan esperando
And they leave me hangin' on
    a una sombra
    To a shadow
    estoy harto de amor
    I'm sick of love
    escucho el tictac del reloj
    I hear the clock tick
    Este tipo de amor:
    This kind of love:
    estoy enamorado
    I'm lovesick
    Algunas veces
    Sometimes
El silencio puede ser como un trueno
The silence can be like thunder
    Algunas veces
    Sometimes
Quiero tomar el camino y saquear
I wanna take to the road and plunder
    ¿Podrías ser verdad?
    Could you ever be true?
    Pienso en ti
    I think of you
    Y me pregunto
    And I wonder
    estoy harto de amor
    I'm sick of love
    Ojalá nunca te hubiera conocido
I wish I'd never met you
    estoy harto de amor
    I'm sick of love
    Estoy tratando de olvidarte
    I'm tryin' to forget you
    Simplemente no sé qué hacer
Just don't know what to do
    Daría cualquier cosa por
    I'd give anything to
    Estar contigo
    Be with you
