My main advice: Vary your experiences. One type of patient contact isn't always gonna cut it. Take your time if you need it. An extra year after college to gain hours/confidence will be nothing but beneficial for you - for applications purposes, but also to just become a better provider.
What does PA stand for?
@@rianam2368 don’t know if you still need this but it’s called Physician Assistant
@@ridahlabibali3332 are you becoming a PA
Watched this video for some nostalgia, reminiscing on the struggles...your advice is spot on.
This video had some seriously valuable info, it was clear, concise and specific. And just super helpful! As a Pre-Pa it seems like there is a ton of info out there and you can get lost in the mix. Thank you!!!
I feel like I’ve watched every PA video about this topic but this video was on another level of important information!!! I’m a pre-PA so I’ll be coming here first for the info💯
Thank you so much!! This comment means a lot
sorry to be off topic but does anyone know of a method to get back into an instagram account??
I was stupid forgot the login password. I love any help you can offer me.
You provided great example on what people can do before and during the application of PA school. Great work. Keep it up.
This is great advice and reassured me that I’m on the right track! Getting ready to apply this spring 😁 and we have matching necklaces!!! Good luck with school! 💞
This was so helpful! It makes so much sense, but I've never thought to contact schools about questions about my stats. Thank you for the tips!
Everything so on point, awesome video sis 👏❤️
Great info Daniela , Thank you I’m looking into applying next year
I'm looking at going to Nova in Jacksonville! Love the content keep up the good work!
Thanks for the helpful tips!
Ahhhh! Just found your channel and just applied to 9/12 potential PA school this cycle for CASPA 🤩 (one of them being NVS jax) I’m geeked I found your channel
SO AWESOME !!! THANK YOU. NOW I AM APPLYING TOO .
Such good tips!! 👌🏽👌🏽
I’m a 15-year-old interested in becoming a physician assistant or nurse practitioner. Thank you so much for this video! It was really helpful ❤❤❤
True especially for rolling admissions! Know your program!
WOW. So helpful👏🔥
i'm not even in high school yet but this really helped, thanks!
I wish for everyone who want be a PA a good luck!
i love being a CNA (also called PCT in some hospitals or nursing homes) and it’s actually what led me to interests in PAs. i highly recommend it if u have a high work ethic and are a people person. it can be stressful but out of 5 jobs i’ve had (from food industry to retail to tourism etc) CNA is my favorite.
Amazing!
Go sharks!🤗 Loved the vid ☺️
yasss so inspiring!
New subbie here 🥰🥰 I love your channel. I’m an undergrad in my third year currently studying legal studies. I always wanted to do PA however I was too scared to take on the studies. Now I want to change my major and go for my PA dream. My question to you is should I continue with my legal studies and still take my shot at PA school ? or should I change my major to better fit PA requirements ?
I am a Pharmacy Techician and work for medical Scribe to hit more on the patient contact hours... I plan on volunteering later on
I looked into a PA program years ago when it was BS degree it’s much longer and more competitive now it seems 😮
My inspiration to become a PA love u dani
this is sooo good 🤩 cutie!!
hi! thank you so much for this video! i’m just wondering how many schools you applied to?
Nice Video ❤
Hope I get accepted this year!
Omg no way I’m starting college at Nova in the fall. I applied for the dual admission premier program that apparently saves my seat in the PA program while I’m in undergrad. Did you go to Nova for undergrad ?
Hi! I’m currently a dental assistant who graduated top of my class in CDA school, while I’m working as a dental assistant does that count as patient care hours? I already have a close friend who is a PA to shadow! She said it will look awesome on my application but I didn’t see it listed in your video. Thanks in advance!
I would love to see a video about your time as a medical assistant! I’m interested in this to get patient care hours but don’t know how to go about getting certified.
Search up CMA or CNA school in your city it's usually less than 1month of training
It’s not less than one month
Hey y’all. I was reviewing the CASPA application sections and there’s a section about “memberships” in which they want you to talk about any specifically health care organizations you were a part of. Do you think this is something important to pursue?
ICON.
can you make a video of medical assistant and how to do that?
I know this video is a bit old but I've been Pharm Tech for 12 years. You DO have to have a certificate (in some cases State and National level) and depending on the state you have to have 1000 work hours before you can work in the pharmacy. BUT you can be a pharmacy CASHIER, you will not do anything but sell RXs not filling or other duties.
Omg you look just like Sofia franklyn!
I got my BS in Biology which covers every pre-req there is for either PA or MD school. As far as my GPA, it really stinks. My patient care hours is my work experience which is over 15yrs in the emergency department and ambulance. I'm working on getting my GRE done next month so I'm hoping I can get all this done by next month.
How did it go?
I am currently an X-ray Tech at a local Urgent Care. I graduated, but only with an Associates Degree in 2019. I took Anatomy Lab/Lecture, Physiology Lab/Lecture, Physics, Statistics and Medical Terminology. I know I'll have to get a BA, BUT what I'm worried about is Chemistry, Pharmacology, Biochemistry........ugh, and being 41 years old with 2 young kids and a current stable job (just not the best money).
I'm a CT tech on the PA route too! I'm getting a bachelors in radiologic science completely online first and then once I have that I plan on finishing the other prereqs. My advice is to do everything you can online at community college to save money, and in my experience the online classes are easier as well. Use rate my professor to see which teachers give extra credit and such so u can keep your GPA up!
Hello! I am a non US IMG, graduated in 2019. am I able to get into PA school directly or should I take some extra credits before getting to PA school here in USA?
Hey :) I’m hoping you can help me out here. I’m a senior in high school and looking into studying to become a PA I’m very confused on how many years exactly it will take such as how many college years will I have to do in order to become a PA thank you in advance 😊!
following what you said about your prof. looking at the applicants' GPAs to get an overall judgement on how well they would able to handle PA school, what is the best GPA range that indicates this? I'm looking for what to shoot for (currently in my gap year taking upper-division science courses for GPA boost).
Most PA schools just require a GPA to have a 3.0 or above... if you’re at 3.5 or above, I consider that a great GPA!!!
I have most of the classes needed to apply for PA school but don’t have a Bachelors. I am thinking about getting a degree online at AMU. Do you think this would hurt my application?
Do you think phlebotomy is a decent option for patient care hours? I have a certificate and like to get started
I’m an undergrad student and work at a res staff and have my emt certs and I got hired bc of my medical experience and give medication and work along side my nurses to give meds when they feel bad and I take vitals and report if their are any abnormalities and I’m the first response in case of overdoses or any medical emergency. Does this count as patient care hours I basically work as a cna
Ma you do need to be certified depending on your hospital.
What did you major in as an undergrad?
I’m a medical assistant for like about 1.5 year now I’m thinking of getting to PA school is that possible for me to get into or what’s it going to be? If so what do I have to do in order to swap to PA school?
Hello, I have a question, what did you major in undergrad. I am currently a college freshman!
Is being a.pharmacist considered as patient care hours too?
Great video 👍
Can i become a physician asistant after masters of kinesiology if yes what do i need to do
I've been a pharmacy tech and a lot of PA schools that I've reached out to don't consider pharmacy technician as PCE
Ive been an LPN For 3 years...I have a 3.6 GPA. I have a previous BS in health information management. Do I have a chance?
Is physical therapist assistant considered an occupation to obtain patient care hours?
Hi. Do you recommend any online PA school that could help me pursue this path without giving up my current day job?thank you
I am doing by bachlor in biochemistry my current cgpa is 3.7 it will inc i hope but in Pakistan we cant be in a hospital without having certificate or degree for shadowing or volunteer work what to do thn plz it would be helpful.
Does one have to record their patient care hours?
Did you go directly to PA school being a MA?
Does surgical technologist count as a profession or a way to get into PA school
hi im an international medical graduate i did 3 months of residency in my country ,but now i want yo become a PA will my GPA be checked because we dont have grades here its just pass and fail ....and will i EASILY get admission in a PA program in canada
Just a heads up!! Pharmacy Technician DOES NOT COUNT as direct patient care. I was a pharmacy tech for three years and even did all the health screenings and assisted with vaccinations but the PA programs in my state will NOT accept those as patient care hours
It depends on the school!
How can I become a medical asssistant/cna after a Bsc in CompSci?
I'm about to graduate Surgical Tech school. My goal is to get into PA school after I get my bachelors. Most of the PAs I talk to at the hospital tell me that the degree doesn't matter, only if you have the pre-reqs, the GPA, and nail the interview. I'd like to know your thoughts on this. Thanks and keep slaying it.
Yea the degree doesn’t matter. You just need to the prerequisites courses and you should be fine.
John..Congratulations! Now that you are a Surgical Technologist what are you studying to get your bachelor's?I'm interested in the PA program as well and would take suggestions on what Exactly to study to pass National Exams etc.
this is my plan too💯💯💫
Are Dental Assistants under the category for patient care hours? We take medical histories, assisting chair-side in surgery & taking radiograph images and help the doctor with tons! Lol ....But I’ve yet to find solid resources about EFDA or RDA, can use their patient care hours towards PA school. We are still under medical so just curious about that.
Btw love the channel! Keep inspiring ✨
Can I pursue becoming a PA with a bachelor’s degree in social work
Hi I’m an occupational therapist can I apply for PA program?
Does someone know what’s considered a ‘good gpa’??
What is your undergrad?
Do 10th and 12th marks matter in pa school??
So I’ve heard many people say that you don’t need a certification or degree for medical assisting to get that job but I would love to know where because everywhere in my area requires a certification through NHA from an accredited association/training facility.
Yeah I’m pretty sure you need certification. All of the MAs I know had certification
Medical assistant requireds a cma or ccma license
i am an engineer and do not have healthcare experience I hope to get accepted
Hay quá
What were your stats?
Do you have any advice on getting patient care hours/volunteering during this pandemic? I’ve tried to volunteer at multiple hospitals but they’re not allowing anyone to shadow or do any volunteer work due to COVID-19..
Me too
@Kalin Williams You can become certified or get a two year degree in an entryway medical field job. I’m getting a certificate in Phelmbotomy! It’s a 4 month long program then we take a national exam to be certified. You can also look up other entry level medical jobs like CNA or MA.
Apply for a PRN nurse support tech (CNA) or part time to gain experience.
I got my undergrad is psychology and have been working at clinic that provides therapy to kids, would that count as client work? Also I want to go back to a community college to fill the prerequisites in classes I didn’t complete during undergrad would that affect my chance of acceptance?
yes, it's pointless for you to become a PA now
@@eli8069 oh…
@@carolineb.456 I don’t think it’s pointless! Do more research, don’t let that one comment discourage you. There are many PAs who don’t start til they are much older or have already been working in healthcare for a long time
I know someone who has spent $15k on applying for PA schools
you have to be certified to be a pharm tech
You could just say be better than anyone else 🤷🤷🤷
Do you believe being a phlebotomist is considered patient care hours?
Yes I think so!
You have to double check with each program, it does differ
Are there schools that offer the pa program in Europe?
Do you know how to use Google??!! Geez
Does volunteering need to be medically related or does anything count?
Has to be Medically related, you can try scribing but you'll need to get a certificate for it (3 mos I think)
Obviously medical related 🙄
@@girlanonymous No need to be rude
I can’t believe I was gonna go to four year med school and three year residency to become a pediatrician when I could be payed more to be a pa and three year pa school smh
🙄
can students from india do pa abroad??
Yess same question i did my undergraduate course from india but in undergraduate i have only anatomy and physiology but to take admission in PA is it necessary for statistics and biochemistry subjects plsh reply and i wanna do PA in USA
Is shadowing necessary if I work directly under a PA?
That is shadowing
GIRL YOU LOOK LIKE SOFIA WITH AN F, YOU BEAUTIFUL
Missing an H in ophthalmic Technician...👍
most pa schools dont take pharm tech and scribe
PA can do botox and fillers and other injectable products
Scribe counts as health care hours NOT patient care hours. One of the schools legit told us in the open house to not put scribe as PCH
Like I said in the beginning, each school is different! & times are definitely changing since this video has been posted
