I would LOVE to see more RUclips videos from you. I always learn from you and enjoy your thorough way of explaining things. I'd sure appreciate it. Another reason I appreciate your videos is because you are from Canada. There are few people in Canada who do this. You also know about Canadian resources. Last and not least, you have a beautiful smile.
Sorry to be so offtopic but does someone know a tool to get back into an Instagram account..? I was stupid lost the login password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me.
@Beau Landon Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im trying it out atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
I have the Juki TL 98P (previous model) and when l get skipped stitches l turn my foot pressure way up and most times that solves the problem. Nice video!
First, use a leather neadle for leather and second, this mashine is not for leather- mostely some mashines can handle thin leather but it's not good for mashines often do so. Thats the reason because a busy sewer will need more than one mashine, in my case i use for leather a strong Vintage mashine who can handle this properly and its made for that. Most of my mshines are straight stitch but my zig zig mashine ( also a Vintage Singer 216G) is useful for sewing my edges well. I love old mashines, made of metal, plastic brings vibrations while sewing so a Juki is surely a very good mashine. As mostely, is not the mashine a problem but more the person, which doing wrong things or got no idea about. Thanks for your vid!
Hi Debby, I am currently looking into the Juki 2010q sewing machine. Could you advise if the Speedwell, NCW or other bags would have any problems going under the pressure foot height of 12mm. Thank you.
I just finished a class where 2 of the ladies used my 2010’s... One had very heavy waxed canvas and had to go through significant thickness. The presser foot height is no problem. One hint, the knee lift gives an extra bit of lift above that of the manual lift. If you’re looking for a dealer in the US or Canada, I work with suppliers that offer great pricing and bonus bundles! You can contact me directly for the info at debby@doodabug.ca
Would you be interested in trying this (going over the strap hump) once more but this time using a hump jumper? I am more than interested to see if the 2010Q can do better with that tool. I am considering selling my 8700-H and using the money to buy the 2010Q instead, but this hump jumper has me wondering if it would work better to prevent skipped stitches.
Sherry, it had no problem sewing with the Tex 30 thread, the problem was the Tex 69 was too heavy. I know the tool you’re talking about. This machine doesn’t even come with one but my other machines did. But this machine came with a walking foot, whereas my other ones didn’t...
Hi Debby, LOVE all your tutorials, thanks for sharing! Question, is Tex the brand? When I google Tex 69 and Tex 30, a whole lots of different threads pop up. May I ask where you purchase your Tex threads from?
I just received my Juki 2010 I got this machine for bag making happy to know I can use Tex 69 question why do yo use the walking foot? I love the foot it came with perfect 1/4 do you have a shop to order .? Thanks for the tips great video. Alice from Fl.
If you subscribe to my channel, you should see all the tutorials that I have out right now... I am going to be focusing on more videos, so subscribing will notify you when they come up!
Just received my machine today. I am looking forward to watching all your videos. I love making purses and bags. I love working with cork and faux leather.
I just got this machine so I could sew thickness like other bag makers and I am not sure if there is something wrong but I don't think I could even fit that thickness under my presser foot. Even with the knee lifter it doesn't lift my foot higher at all. I bought my machine used and I honestly think that something is not right. Why can everyone else fit the thickness but I cannot fit cork foam and lining. Weird right? Can you tell me in inches how much your foot raisers by the handle? TY
You can adjust the pressure on the presser foot and that might help. I turn the knob higher up so I can fit the foam under it easier. Hope that works for you!
Debby , I have an industrial compound feed machine for leather. But problem with tex69 is not problem of machine. Its problem of the wrong needle size. Top stitch needls have bigger thread hole, but not wide(big) enought slot for thread. For 69 thread for leather you need 20-22 size needle.Try it.
There is two types of the leather needles. 1-like a blade which cut flat angled slot ( like /., not like -). 2-triside sharpen point - thats what I use.
Look for “Tex”. It’s a measurement of thread weight used more in industrial applications. I use Tex 30 in my 2010’s exclusively for bagmaking. It’s great for assembling and topstitching, but would be unsuitable for clothing and quilting.
I see this video is 2 years old but nonetheless I'm still in search of a new machine. You mentioned several times that this 2010 machine isn't an industrial machine, my question is what is the juki above this? What industrial machine comes after this 2010 series?
If you’re looking for a heavy duty machine, I suggest a compound feed machine. A Juki 1541S is one example. Don’t get too hung up on the Juki name. You pay extra for it. There are lots of very good machines out there. I still do 95% of my work with my 2010’s, but I do my top stitching with my compound feed machine.
I like this machine, thanks for your review! I sew clothes (from silk clothes to wool coats) and do not need quilting but I like the idea of this machine. I just love straight stitch. Would you say it's worth?
I absolutely love this machine for garment sewing! I'd gotten away from garment sewing for a while, but I truly appreciate this machine for its' ability to sew with such gorgeous stitch quality. For me, the use of sergers has pretty much eliminated the need for zig-zag and I still have my Pfaff if I need to make button holes or need fancy stitches.
Love your honesty regarding this machine. I appreciate it greatly since I am in the market for a new machine. If I were looking for a quilting/sewing with leather with no skipped stitches sewing machine which would you recommend
Well, these Jukis practically speak for themselves... I rented 10 TL2200mini machines for my last retreat, and 6 of the ladies bought them after using them. The TL2010Q and the TL2200mini are the same machine but the 2200 has different colors on it and a few extra accessories. In my opinion, they are equally great machines! I’m affiliated with Juki reps in Canada and the US, so if you’re interested, you can email me at debby@doodabug.ca
I have a Juki 2010 qvp mini and for the most part I love it, but I found that I had a terrible problem with my needle hitting the throat plate and bending or breaking when sewing through thick layers. I was told this is a known issue on the 2010 and can be solved by drilling a slightly larger hole in the throat plate. My husband did that and it did help a great deal, but my machine was not cheap so I found it frustrating that it had to be modified to work properly. Wondering if anyone else had this problem?
You can purchase a throat plate with a larger hole for that reason, but I guess the rational is that if the needle flexed so much that it didn’t go through the hole, it wouldn’t be in the right position for the hook to catch it. I understand your frustration though.
I love mine & (crossing my fingers) never had that problem...yet! Mine came with Organ Brand HAx1, 90/14. I know you can use regular needles in it so I am wondering if these are heavier duty for faster & thicker sewing? Not sure if it even matters but that is what I use. Oh but we do love our machines, don't we?
Thank you very much. Have not had my TL2010Q very long and appreciated this video with a heavier thread.
Very helpful! Im a new juki tl 2010 owner!
Thanks for the demo. This truly made me want to test on my own.

Thank you! I just got my Juki 2010Q and loved your demo. Looking forward to the next one.

@Beau Landon it worked and I now got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thanks so much you saved my ass !
@Justin Drew No problem =)
I have this Machine and love it but you have given me some hints regarding thread issues: thank you for your videos
Thanks, Debbie….just what I needed as I am playing with my new Juki!
Just found your video . Thank you great demo
Thank you so much for this demo.
very very helpful demo thank you
Good demo. Thanks. I’m in the throes of deciding between this 2010, or maybe an 1181. Hard choice. Thanks again.
Knowing what I know now, if you have the room for a 1181, it's a great choice. Especially if you need the power to punch through thickness.
@@DebbyHunker Thanks. I think you’re right!
I have the Juki TL 98P (previous model) and when l get skipped stitches l turn my foot pressure way up and most times that solves the problem. Nice video!
Thank you for taking the time to comment! When I use fabric, I have great luck doing that too! Leather, it seems, doesn't compress quite so easily.
Thanks - I enjoyed this!
Exceptional tutorial! Thanks so much
Thank you very much, would it help, to rather go faster, then slow? Apart from the good idea of using a learner needle plus adjusting the pressure?
Thanks for doing this!
Thanks for the video just emailed you to get more info on purchasing Juki, great video!
I have the Brother 1500sl, but I know that it is best to use the same weight thread in the bobbin as well. You will get a better stitch on both sides.

What were your machine settings?
Wow just found your video. I'm looking at the juki 2200qvp mini. Trying
to find a place that ships. Great video.
If you email me at debby@doodabug.ca, I can help you find a machine. I have suppliers in both Canada and the US.
Debby do you have an industry machine also?

Debby, what kind of top thread are you using?
Would you be interested in trying this (going over the strap hump) once more but this time using a hump jumper? I am more than interested to see if the 2010Q can do better with that tool. I am considering selling my 8700-H and using the money to buy the 2010Q instead, but this hump jumper has me wondering if it would work better to prevent skipped stitches.

If your 8700-H is an industrial machine, this Juki will not replace it. It’s my opinion that you will be sorry if you let your industrial go.
Debby, I have the JukiTL2010Q, have sewed bags using #69 Thread. In watching your video, do you recommend using #30 instead?
Would the Juki TL 18 QVP sew through the layers of leather?
The 2010 and the 18QVP are the same machine. They just put different decals on and added more feet with the QVP.
Hi Debby, LOVE all your tutorials, thanks for sharing! Question, is Tex the brand? When I google Tex 69 and Tex 30, a whole lots of different threads pop up. May I ask where you purchase your Tex threads from?
Hi Mona! Tex is a measurement of thread weight. I actually now carry Tex 30 and it’s available on my website www.doodabug.com
Do you know how the Tex 69 compares to Superior Thread 12 wt 100% poly?
No I don’t, sorry... Maybe there’s a comparison chart online?
I just received my Juki 2010 I got this machine for bag making happy to know I can use Tex 69 question why do yo use the walking foot? I love the foot it came with perfect 1/4 do you have a shop to order .? Thanks for the tips great video. Alice from Fl.

With the manual lift, it raises about 1/4”, if I use the knee lift, it raises about 1/2”
You can adjust the pressure on the presser foot and that might help. I turn the knob higher up so I can fit the foam under it easier. Hope that works for you!
Still not a difference? Which is why I think there is something not right with my machine. UGH

I was wondering if a leather needle would be more appropriate for the thickness in preventing skipping?
@@seam2sew Absolutely YES. Leather needle is not pushing leather but punching it with sharp point.Actually its cutting leather like knife.
But this machine is not built for heavy leather work. Don't burn the motor!
There is two types of the leather needles. 1-like a blade which cut flat angled slot ( like /., not like -). 2-triside sharpen point - thats what I use.
debby, how about the body of the head itself. Is it metal/steel or plastic
It’s a metal body 😁
I would try a larger needle for the heavier thread
What is this TEK thread that you speak of? I just saw your video because I’m shopping for the Juki machine you have. I love the look of that thread!
Look for “Tex”. It’s a measurement of thread weight used more in industrial applications. I use Tex 30 in my 2010’s exclusively for bagmaking. It’s great for assembling and topstitching, but would be unsuitable for clothing and quilting.
Is there a link to the walking foot? I found one but it’s $120??? Seems outrageous.
The walking foot comes with the machine. I haven't needed to buy one separately.

It would be interesting to see if the Tex69 worked better with a leather needle. Thanks for doing these demos!

Yes, I use it to sew through peltex with no problems at all.
