You might know Brian David Gilbert as the host of Polygon's Unraveled. If you're not familiar with his work, he has taken on gargantuan tasks such as solving the Zelda timeline in 15 minutes. And by solving we mean taking everything that's canon and isn't and then putting it order.
I think most would agree that it's a foolish endeavor. But foolish endeavors are exactly what internet sweetheart Brian David Gilbert is all about. He's also read 337 Skyrim books, ranked over 200 Mega Man robots, attempted to make sense of Kingdom Hearts, and tried to make all 78 food recipes from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in one day.
Naturally, it's all fantastic to watch and, as host and creator, Brian David Gilbert approaches each challenge with charm, humor, and a frankly alarming level of earnestness. But what makes him tick? Do we know the real Brian David Gilbert? Why is he the way he is? We decided to find out by sitting him down and interviewing him.

This has the ominous energy of a person who has been a vampire for twenty years and is no longer sure what to do
Like he's at an awkward point in vampirism where the friends and family who were once his peers are now noticably a bit older than him, so he can't really hang with them anymore. He's not managed to keep up with what the people "his age" are into these days either though, so his styles are like kinda dated, but not exactly anachronistic yet. And also he hasn't wandered the good Earth long enough to accumulate a centuries-old aristocratic vampire fortune that would allow him to live a few decades as a full recluse. So he's just sort of awkwardly hanging out in a crappy apartment still listening to 90s girlband pop.

I had a friend who was Buddhist, and he said during the lessons sometimes the teacher would read a scripture with a ton of huge numbers in it. The purpose was to overload the brain until the thinking mind turned off. Maybe stream-cycling is another way to do that?

Dont listen to him he's absolutely related to patrick gill, the gill family is an offshoot of the gilbert family that married into the "l, -bert" family and combined their last names, causing a scandal that lead to the gilbert family disowning the gill family entirely. Pat and Brian have both gone against their families wishes in forming a friendship, it's the cause of many arguments at thanksgiving.
