My mom and I are HUGE popcorn junkies, so I showed her this video in the hopes we could try it out. She was rather hesitant at first, especially since she knows I’m a wuss with spicy food (also we have one of those hand-crank popcorn spinners instead of a wok and weren’t sure if this would compromise the recipe). So we worked up to it: first, we decided to put the salt into the cooking oil instead of sprinkling it on the popcorn afterwards. This turned out to be a GAME CHANGER, and she vowed to never do it the old way ever again. Then I got my hands on a jar of Lao Gan Ma. We started by just using the oil and setting aside the solids. VERY tasty. Then we both added the solids; ALSO very tasty, but I’m a huge wuss and can only handle a little bit, so Mom claimed the rest. If it weren’t for heartburn we’d try the chili powder, and maybe one day we’ll work up to that too, but even with just the Lao Gan Ma it’s DELICIOUS. Five stars, 10/10, would recommend Pepcorn to a friend that isn’t my mom.
My mother would scream at us for doing things she said we should do. We built a couch / sheet fort. She placed an expensive vase on top of a shelf to hold part of it in place. So I actually read the Terms & Conditions. It's just the Apple T&C, but with "Apple" replaced with "Pepcorn". This is great and all, but there are grammatical errors, since there's multiple uses of "An Pepcorn", instead of the proper "A Pepcorn". I don't know why I did this. You're welcome.
Every so often, I come back to this to refresh myself on how to make Pepcorn. I do not own a wok, a spice or coffee grinder, nor have i found Lao Gan Ma at any of my local grocery stores, watchful as I may be. But one day I will obtain the things I need, and this will be the fabled map that leads me to the promised land. Could i simply buy those things online? Absolutely. But this is a prize I must earn on my own two feet, for the adventure to truly feel worthy of the holy reward.

I haven't made pepcorn yet because I'm only midway through the video, but I just want to confirm some things I have learned in my popping days for y'all: - Buying buckets of popcorn kernels and stovepopping is 100% the way to go, i can't even enjoy microwave bag popcorn anymore - 1/2 cup kernels is, by experiment, about the same as a "large" at an average movie theatre - i personally disagree with the use of so little oil, but i'd never go higher than equal portions kernels-to-oil - for the best movie theatre taste and movie theatre heart disease, the correct type of common household oil is butter-flavored crisco - do not use a shallow or small pot/pan. You need at minimum a large saucepan, but even there you need a lid instead of foil
anyone notice that the "Anyone can Cook" sign in the background, because of the cursive font, can read like "Anyone Can Wok"? I thought this was amusing and topical

At least something good finally came from this quarantine, eh? And Maryland (where I'm pretty sure he's from) is locked down til June, so I'm expecting this for at least some tine😂
Edit: Yeah I'm new to the channel lol I didn't realize he'd moved to New York. Point still stands, like Leah said, they're forked too.
@@zozzy4630 His apartment is in New York and NY is forked so yeah he's probably gonna be like this for a while
@@zozzy4630 He lives in NYC now though, even before he got a job at Polygon I think

Guess I'll have to rethink that whole 'people don't have taste in entertainment' thing.
I dunno. You're probably right if people think there are eight better recent videos than this masterpiece.
This from a channel whose latest video (which he just "had to make") is him fawning over the RUclips profile pics of two women he found in a random comment section.
Yeah, I'm really going to take your advice as that of a well-adjusted and functioning individual. 😂😂
Edit: troll deleted their post. Classic.
#8 now!
@White Rider what? Brian is not trans. I don't agree with your comment but this doesnt even have anything to do with the video.
@White Rider yeah, this guy making popcorn is real counter culture stuff. Basically Satanic rituals here.
Brian, this wok is COMICALLY large. tha- y-you must use all of these? kernels? in order to fill this up?
No, you rube!
You-you must use... AHL HALF A CUP
Only a spoonfull
NO YOU RUBE!
YOU MUST USE
A HALF A CUP!
You didn't capitalize the "t", "k", and "i" and it bothers me to this day.
This is my comfort video for when I have anxiety attacks. I hope he makes more cooking videos in future
AND HE DID
I swear as an Asian dude I got way too hyped how this white dude just broke out the OG Lao Gan Ma XD
Same!!!
Me too!!
SAME
EVERY MEAL, EVERY DAYYYY
RIGHT???????????????????????????
Lao gan ma and gochugaru, this is truly the 21st century Asian culture representation channel
i read the title as “pepsicorn” for a second and was horrified. another excellent video from bdg
ok but if you could somehow coat popcorn with pepsi like caramel corn I bet that would be delicious
Oh you should check out kilian experience if that's the sort of thing you're into
That's just pissy shitties (yes it's actually called that. This is why we don't usually let 4chan name food)
@Cedog D Pissy Shitties came from a tumblr post, actually. Not every shitpost is from 4chan.
This comment reminded me of my favorite twitch streamer who did a bit where he dehydrated a big mac and then rehydrated it in microwaved Dr.pepper
Here's the incident captured on camera: ruclips.net/video/BMjlYgjqPl4/видео.html
Proof that when left to his own devices, BDG will unravel on his own accord.
The universe tends towards disorder.
2 1/2 years after this video was published, i still haven't been able to get it out of my head. i'm going to make pepcorn right now. i will be back.
update: the tinfoil came off and now there's popcorn all over my kitchen. i'm going to try this again.
update 2 electric boogaloo: I DID IT!! i don't have a spice grinder because i'm broke so i used regular salt but i made sure to dissolve it as best i could. also my gochugaru was out of date (i moved and forgot to put it back in the freezer) so i used shin ramen powder. it's VERY spicy but that's what i like >:) 10/10 would splatter my kitchen with chilli oil and popcorn again
When this quarantine period is over, I expect to see BDG in an episode of “It’s Alive”
That would be the most chaotic episode of It's Alive ever, and i have never wanted to watch a thing more
Or an episode of cooking back to back
Yes and if he doesn't wear a matching hat to Brad it's worthless
BDG, Claire and Brad on an It's Alive! They can't drown out the voice of the people's demands!
I don't know how you always make your content so incredibly entertaining but it is and I love it

brian owning a ratatouille "anyone can cook" plaque in his kitchen... is really fitting...
I also love how it's crooked
I thought it said anyone can wok
ITS SO CROOKED AND IT WAS DRIVING ME CRAZY THE WHOLE TIME But yeah I want that thing in my kitchen like please where can I buy one
I was a professional chef for thirteen years and I never thought to make popcorn in a wok. I literally built a purpose specific popcorn tool instead for doing it in cast iron. I'm trying your method tonight my dude.

The "never had to review food before" line was 100% a gag, as indicated by the *card linking to that video* that he added on that exact second. I know some devices don't show them, but yeah.
It had the exact same energy as when Brian said "I've never done musical theatre" on the Pokerap.
I just love how bdg responds in the most calm and docile way "I'm gonna get to it Karen"
This man has such a big personality. He’s such a delightful dork of a theatre kid, and it works perfectly with his editing style. I need to personally thank this man.
Almost Brilliant nice pfp

So I actually read the Terms & Conditions. It's just the Apple T&C, but with "Apple" replaced with "Pepcorn". This is great and all, but there are grammatical errors, since there's multiple uses of "An Pepcorn", instead of the proper "A Pepcorn".
I don't know why I did this. You're welcome.
Does that mean you’ve also read the apple terms and conditions
an pepcorn
Hey, I was extremely disappointed to find out support.pepcorn.com was not a wrbsite
Same and it took forever to read
I did as well but not the entire thing, I just looked at a few points and was like "yeah no this is apple but replaced with pepcorn lol"
Absolutely. But this is a prize I must earn on my own two feet, for the adventure to truly feel worthy of the holy reward.
go to an asian grocery store
if you still haven't made Pepcorn, try making your own chili oil! then you can customize the flavors :)
I have no intention of making this insanely overengineered popcorn I'm just here to thirst after bdg's luscious locks

JUNE KWON HE'S CALLING YOU OUT
I haven't made pepcorn yet because I'm only midway through the video, but I just want to confirm some things I have learned in my popping days for y'all:
- Buying buckets of popcorn kernels and stovepopping is 100% the way to go, i can't even enjoy microwave bag popcorn anymore
- 1/2 cup kernels is, by experiment, about the same as a "large" at an average movie theatre
- i personally disagree with the use of so little oil, but i'd never go higher than equal portions kernels-to-oil
- for the best movie theatre taste and movie theatre heart disease, the correct type of common household oil is butter-flavored crisco
- do not use a shallow or small pot/pan. You need at minimum a large saucepan, but even there you need a lid instead of foil
anyone notice that the "Anyone can Cook" sign in the background, because of the cursive font, can read like "Anyone Can Wok"? I thought this was amusing and topical
I actually hadn't realized that, but now that you've pointed it out, that is extremely amusing and topical! Thank you for this comment haha
