FULL LIST OF MY GAMES/COOKIES OF THE YEAR:
    5. Monster Hunter Rise
    Recipe: chocolatecoveredkatie.com/sno...
(Just split it into three and add gel food coloring. They are a little crumbly, so maybe don't try to skewer them.)
    4. Metroid Dread
    Recipe: www.bettycrocker.com/recipes/...
(I had to put in 50 drops of purple food coloring and it barely worked. Also, I just squished green M&Ms on the top and used green icing from a supermarket. This is a child's cookie and that's what makes it great.)
    3. Death's Door
    Recipe: tasty.co/recipe/macarons
(I piped a few extra little dots of the macaron batter in order to make the handles for Pothead and attached them with buttercream. I broke up some thin pretzel sticks for his log neck.)
    2. Resident Evil Village
Recipe: cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1... or this one if you don't want to subscribe there: www.shelovesbiscotti.com/almo...
(I replaced half the almonds with raw pistachios to add a little extra chewiness. I melted chocolate chips in the microwave and then painted them on the bottoms and let them set.)
    1. Inscryption
Recipe: It's plain old shortbread. I used this recipe: cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1...
but you could probably use any solid shortbread recipe.
(I piped on black icing to make the cookie. I did not take a photo of a person and transfer their consciousness into the cookie. Stop asking if I did.)

The Echoes of the Eye shoutout really highlights what I like about horror genre despite me having a hard time handling it. At the end of the day, horror games tend to be about overcoming adversity and coming to terms with one's own fear of the unknown. Some of the best horror games accentuate these themes in their narrative, and for a game like Outer Wilds, which is already existentially horrifying in its own right, they didn't need to dig deep to make the DLC feel appropriate for the setting. Easily one of the biggest highlights of the year for what is quite possibly one of my favorite games to date.

Same dude, I went out of my way to avoid it like the plague because I kept seeing it everywhere on youtube but roguelikes and deckbuilders are two genres that I generally have a bad time with, so for so long I hated the game and stubbornly refused to take in anything about that game. It all changed though this past weekend and after getting maybe nine hours of sleep over the whole weekend, I really get what all the buzz was about. It feels impossible to put into words the complex emotions that game left me with, but good lord it really was a well deserved S-tier

    • @isitatiger

I hadn't even heard of the game until this video. I briefly considered pirating the game (it's 2022, we're all, most of us, broke) but ended up just spending the 20 bucks on steam. No regrets. What a great experience, the game is totally worth it especially for someone like me - someone that is casually into card games and played the shit out of slay the spire. I tried to get my boyfriend to play but he's intimidated by card games. I tried to explain it to him without spoilerizing too much but ended up gushing about the meta-ness and creepypasta vibes. Both of which are things I don't usually care for but are done perfectly in Inscryption.

Yo, another great game that came out this year is Chicory: A Colorful Tale! It’s a game with Zelda-like exploration and progression where the world is your coloring book, and you get to play as a cute dog! Don’t be deceived by its cutesy artsy exterior, however, the story goes deep and explores some pretty dark themes. Soundtrack done by Lena Raine who did the soundtrack for Celeste and the most recent Minecraft updates, and honestly as much as I love Celeste’s soundtrack, Chicory’s soundtrack has so much vibrancy and variance that I can’t help but love it even more. I played it on PC, but it also just got a Switch release, if that’s more your cup of tea. Highly recommend checking it out.

i know talking about the games in relation to cookies was more like an “excuse”, but honestly it was a really good way of explaining things in a way that made sense, especially as someone who hasn’t played any of the games on that list!
as for one of my favourite games from this year, i’m gonna have to say Impostor Factory (sort-of sequel to To The Moon/Finding Paradise, but can be played by itself). it’s the kind of cookie that takes absolutely no time or skill to make, but the ingredients are played with so creatively that you feel changed as a person after eating one. i played the whole thing the morning it came out and i loved it!
alternatively i’d say The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles but i’m not sure if that counts due to a) actually being 2 games that tell one long story across them both, and b) how they aren’t technically new, but they only got an official translation this year. as cookies, they’re full of wild twists and turns, like having a recipe page where half the words are faded and you’re just guessing, but it all (mostly) works out in the end.
