    Were these tips helpful? What other kinds of roller skating tips would you like us to cover in our next video?

      Can you do one about how to teach someone how to roller skate? With tips about how you can hold a beginner skater's hand when they're learning and how to support them properly at the same time. Something like those😆

      Maybe a skill tree for newbies trying to map out what moves to master. There's a lot to work on from street, park and dance and having a beginners foundation guide can help ease transitions from one form to another!

    Super helpful. I’m skating again after a 25 year break-and it’s quite intense as a 42 year old to skate big bowls. Been really hoping to learn how to fall WELL and smartly.

    I do the “tuck-n-roll” when I’m falling forward.....and after 20 yrs of not roller skating it’s saved my butt a few times. 😜🌈🦋 Love your content I definitely find vids like this super helpful, Thanx 😻

    Thanks for this video!!! I was looking for a video to protect myself when falling backwards but I realized that there are not a lot of them on RUclips. I have a habit of using my arm and recently twisted it and hurt myself. I will definitely try the side way and rolling!

    Nice video Gwen!!! Well done! You are one of the most graceful fallers that I know, and thanks for sharing your "secrets". Question for you: When I skate trails and I take a fall (usually due to debris), I typically end up in a baseball slide position. I slide off my pads and get a nasty case of road rash. Do you have any advice on how to correct this? Thanks!!

    • @SKATEFANTOM
      @SKATEFANTOM 3 года назад

      Thanks Joe! Hmm, this may be unavoidable but road rash is definitely better than a broken bone at least so you got that going for you! haha

    I tend to roll out of falls. A while back a friend wanted me to learn kung fu with him. I didn't stick with it, but one of the great things they taught us was how to fall and roll. I think it's helpful to practice falling on grass or soft ground and get used to rolling or whatever technique you prefer. Knowing how to fall really helps with confidence on skates

  • @strangerpainter

    Always just go with the fall, accept the fall and lie down on the ground. :D preferable rolling around.

    I only started falling after I started using the skates I made at home. I skated well at the rink using their rentals but I made my own. Now, I'm having trouble getting used to these skates.

    I use my toe stops for saving a backwards fall also. If my legs start going out forward I'll pick them up one at a time and jam my stop in to the floor just behind me. I didn't really learn this as such, it kinda happened on its own.
