Haha, I’m 46, have roller skated on level ground/all grades of trails since I was 8…went to skate park first time a year ago, ate concrete, 😂😂😂 got a bit too enthusiastic a little too quick 😂, have spent the past year working my way BOTTOM TO TOP, while NOBODIES there. 😂❤️ the struggle is real…. WAYYYY different animal🤯
Before going to the skatepark, PRACTICE FALLING! 😅 Get LOW. Develop the muscle memory to prevent falling backwards which is so scary. Estro Jen has a video called “How to not get hurt roller skating - Tip 1: Proper way to fall and get up”. ruclips.net/video/Fp-Cj9mko2Q/видео.html 🙌🏼
Dont do the same as me and my sister, we went without gear and we had our skates for 2 weeks. Everything went well, until… my sister went down a ramp, she fell and broke her arm. It was a bad skate park tho, so please please please be careful! But most important, have fun!!,
I DESPERATELY need a tutorial for being in the weird intermediate beginner stage of park skating where I can do ramps and sooooort of pump but need help lol.
Just stay slow, stay staggered and you should be good to go! Pumping is something you can work once you get the feeling of going back and forth on the transition:)
I would LOVE it if y'all would do a video about skating rink etiquette! I have been injured by kids going the wrong way and others going too fast and bumping into me or someone else making us all fall.
Hi Moxi Team! A video I would love to see is one all about slide blocks and slide trucks. As a beginner/intermediate skater who wants to get into park skating, i’d love to see why one may need them, what skates/plates they work for, what they do, and how to install them. I haven’t been able to find a video that explains it in-depth. Thanks, happy skating!
Such a gem! I love Evelyn! And the production value is SO good! The cuts to examples of what Evelyn is talking about are perfectly inserted. The time stamps are so useful. You all crush as a team. The energy is magic ✨✨✨ Thank you for another awesome video! 🙏🏼
@@moxiskates thanks to the whole Moxi crew for keeping ME going! I celebrated 150 days on skates recently, started Feb ‘20, and on 3 occasions I’ve gotten to skate with just one other skater so y’all are fueling me constantly. It can be lonely being the only skater around but my neighbor just got a pair of Beach Bunnies so my quad squad dreams are finally coming true! 🛼🙌🏼😍 Thanks for the connection even though we are miles apart.
I just recently found your videos and I really love them. All these tips are great. I’m a beginner taking my kids to the Skate Park. Trying to teach them Skate Park etiquette has been a big challenge. It can get pretty dangerous when a lot of people are there.
Man I’ve been wanting to go to the skatepark for a year and a half, both on skateboard and on roller skates. But my mom is so terrified of me going alone because of all the guys there 🤣, so she won’t let me go unless I have three other friends with me...... I’m literally 20 🤣. I just wanted to share that since I find it really funny.
I’ll start by saying I’ve watched a lot of Moxie videos here and I was particularly excited for this one as I’ve just moved to a new city and while it doesn’t have many places to skate casually, it does have several skate parks. I wanted to like this video, but it was hard to follow. I think planning out the tips in advance would help and also maybe cutting down on the disclaimers and asides would make it more useful. For example, the second tip was essentially “wear whatever your comfortable in, wear your protective gear, and choose the right skates”. It took over 6 minutes to get there and the most important piece of info was relegated to a link. I appreciate the effort, but this could have been a 5 minute video.
if you are more of an indoor skater that’s now branching out to the skate park, ask the locals at your roller rink for tips. most of the older folks i see there all the time used to skate at the park/outdoors, so i’ve asked them for some good drills to get comfortable with skating beyond the rink.
I'm a beginner on "flat surface" 😂 but want to go to the skate park at some point. well, i wasnt really thinking about the stress of other watching or being in the way... now i don't know when I'm gonna be ready 😂😂😂 (i definitely go over there just to look first, cause i hope there's a little flat surface where i can be there trying on a flat concrete without being in the way of people i the skate park area
Another peice of advise I can give from my own stupidity is DO NOT drink alcohol before skating. I did on the 15th June and it resulted in a broken wrist, surgery and no skating for almost 3 months (I've only been skating again for about 6 weeks). All I did was step onto the concrete and slipped over backwards at first I didn't even think it was broken I thought it was sprained it wasn't until I got home and my wrist had swollen to the size of a football about 3 hours after doing it that I decided to go to accident and emergency at my local hospital. Anyways from that day onwards I have decided no alcohol before/ during the sesh.
We are so sorry to hear that, and agree that alcohol and skating don't mix well. A great lesson learned, thank you for sharing and we hope you have tons of fun on your skates rolling forward :)
best tip i can give you... No one ever started good at a skate park.. everyone that is good at a skate park, knows the struggle you're going through. and for the people watching, tell yourself that they would want to be able to do it.
I would love to rock shorts and I don't usually fall but I still always wear my thick jeans when I skate I am building up hill confidence so I skate around looking for them and I want to be prepared if I get in over my head lol
Thick pants are amazing to skate in, and if you feel comfortable in them they do offer a nice little layer of protection :) Keep taking those baby steps and you will be bombing hills in no time!
I have new skates. I went for a stiffer boot for the safety of my ankles but the problem is they hurt my feet so bad! I've worn them for over 10 hours and they don't seem to soften. Are there any ways to stretch them a bit?
Are Moxi Lolly skates good for the skate park? I’ve seen a lot of videos with people wearing them at the park or talking about wearing them at the park.
Do you by chance have a video on the basics like, My birthday is in two months or so (July 10th) And I'm getting rollerskates and I definitely wanna go to the skatepark, but I can't find any good sites/stores to buy rollarskates that aren't like 200$! I also don't know how to safely stop, or turn easily and I was hoping you can help me with that, or how to safely go down a pump!
We have a ton of beginner tutorials on our channel for you to explore! :) We also have a skate that is in your budget at $109 called the Rainbow Rider! email us if you want to discuss more: Cs@moxirollerskates.com

do you not recommend the lolly skates for park skating? i’m about to buy my first pair and want to learn/build skills outside of the park but transition into park skating. should i look at the panthers/beach bunnies instead?
First off, the Lolly comes with nylon plates which generally isn't recommended for skate parks. You can go down a small hill/ramp in them, but any kind of jumping could could break the plate, so metal plates are recommended for that reason. Additionally,The lolly boot is a bit softer, so it doesn't offer the same ankle support as the options she listed. That's more of a personal preference rather then a necessity, but its better to be on the safe side if you dont know how much support you need yet. That said, the suade the lolly boot comes in does feel tough and durable.

Are Moxi Lolly skates good for the skate park? I’ve seen a lot of videos with people wearing them at the park or talking about wearing them at the park.
The boots are fine, but the plate isn't ideal. Usually people upgrade them for park skating.

I just purchased some Lollys (said in description they are suitable for the skate park) but you didn’t mention them as being suitable?
Yeah. I can't really stop, not fast. It's so hard. But I haven't killed myself or anybody else, yet.
Update!! I can stop now! I just plant my foot 45° (ish) and spin to a stop.
Where can I get that hoodie, @EvelynIvyy ? Love it!
