I am 46 years old and learning to skate for the first time. I fell and busted my tailbone on day 3. It took a few weeks to heal. I am back at it, but have all the gear now including butt pads and a helmet. The butt pads are great! I feel like I look ridiculous but my rear end is thankful. I am not a natural at this. Before I ever put my skates on I practiced falling in my living room with my gear on, but in the back of my mind I was still afraid my body wouldn't naturally do what I was practicing. Until, I fell. I hadn't even realized I was falling until I was on the ground. I'm still a new skater, but now knowing my body does naturally have that reflex makes me feel so much more confident.
Today, is May 2, 2024. I just watched this video. When you started to stress the importance of not giving up on your dream to skate despite your weight and what others think of you. I got emotional with you. Yes, it's true that people think roller skating is for kids. I've had it said to me since I broke my wrist March 23, 2024, followed by a surgery to add a plate to my radius. I still want to skate again. I don't want my injury to win. I want to be a good skater that can get around the rink, and hopefully not fall. Thank you for all of the videos. I've saved about ten or more from your RUclips videos.

Watching this wearing my wrist brace after falling badly and spraining my left arm. But I'm undeterred! Getting back on skates as soon as my hip flexor isn't spasming. : ) I also ordered protective gear and will wear them next time as a middle-aged learner. I just lost focus for a second as I went to ask the teacher a question and boom I went down. Oops! Great reminder to *always* keep my knees bent. Thankfully I didn't hit my head. Appreciate the debris info, too!
I was nervous to start skating after I saw how many of your commenters skated for five minutes and broke every bone in their body, but this makes me feel much better! Thanks, Dirty!
I worry about hurting my wrist since they’re so dainty and I can’t imagine not being able to draw/paint so if I can I always try to squat and force my fall on my butt since I have a pretty cushioned one haha
I’m a painter and I broke my wrist skating the other day! Luckily it wasn’t my painting hand lol. Definitely going to wear wrist guards always from now on (after I heal)
@@Kiwikick238 don't be! they work perfectly, I always land on my wrists (got them sprained a few times, I try to fall with my butt but I fail miserably), and since I got wrist guards I fell many many times and never injured my wrists again! Do practice bending your elbow though, wrists guards and bent elbows will almost for sure prevent wrist injuries!
My sister has in-line skates she use to go out and just fall. Over and over and over again finding new ways to fall. She told me it was learn the right way to fall so it hurts less and what will make her fall. Idk how she didnt get brain damage
It is difficult to control falls. The more you do practice getting low and falling on purpose the better you will get at "controlling" them when they happen suddenly.
Ouch ( Maybe practice on the carpet first? I skated on the carpet in the living room for 2 weeks and only then moved on to the smooth floor. My first day I stood up on them and grabbed the door, next thing I knew I was on the floor 😂 You don’t roll too much on the carpet, give it a try when you get better ..Trust me skating is a great feeling 💗💗💗
I just started going outside with my skates I do better day by day since I can’t get to the skate rink I’m practicing my outdoor skating and I haven’t fell I stumble but tend to keep my balance
Yesterday night I went skating and one of my friends mom feel and she was crying and screaming in pain. I was doing my crossover while turning and I saw my friends mom on the floor holding her leg and crying. The dj called everyone to get off the skating floor so the workers could help her. The ambulance came and put her on a stretcher. I prayed for her and hope she didn't break her leg. I'm hoping she just sprained her ankle. I twisted my ankle when I first started skating and I couldn't walk for 6 weeks.
I have used the "drop it low" to save me and my friend from wrecking hard several times. I've scuffed my knees and hands at worst, and it wouldn't have been that bad if I had gotten my pads beforehand. I love your tutorials Dirty Deb!!!! ❤️
WOW thanks for this video!! My sister and I just bought some skates. We Love your tutorials!! She is 39 and I am 55. I used to skate in my teens ALL THE TIME and I was shocked that I couldn't just pick up where I left off!! We skate for now in a parking lot in Redondo Beach and are getting better each time. We are planning on a trip to come out to see you (hopefully) in Fountain valley when we get a little better but WHAT FUN!!! Such a nice departure from life and all of the stresses. We quote what you say to each other as we are skating along... !! Love this one on falling... I feel sooo much better!! Cant wait to get out there again!!! Thank you for bringing fun to us!! We love you Deb!!! Katie and Katina from RB!!!
@@NatalieBoat111 I was skating out of the driveway and my back wheels got caught on the edge of it 😭 I knew it was broken the instant I fell. I found it really helpful to fill my social media with other skaters who have been or are injured. It’s just part of the journey!
doing the same thing after i broke my wrist hahaha. broke mine the same way but the driveway was sloped, my trucks were still tight, couldnt stop, lost balance... buying protective gear as soon as i can have more motion in my wrist without so much pain!
Thank you for this. I just turned 49 and started up skating after I had to take a break from paddlebarding. I was practicing on my driveway and learning some new skills. My neighbor was talking to me and I got too close to the edge of the concrete and smacked my tailbone on the edge. I don't want to be afraid to fall, but this hurt. And then, this video popped up on my playlist like it was reading my mind. I am not letting the comments of my friends get to me. I want to get better. I love the way I feel on my skates.
Not to downplay your injury but it is the most common of all in skating. Every single skater suffers from this injury at some point and then returns to skating. Figure/freestyle skaters hurt their tailbones fairly often when learning more difficult jumps. Just know that you will enjoy skating again and again :)
Watching this chilling here with the base of my tibia broken fur to roller skating but everyone is trying to get me to throw them out and I’m like ummm no I’m flying again ASAP
You can definitely skate again after a break. Plenty of skaters have done it. People get injured in all sorts of sports and don't immediately think "Well that's it, I'm out". If you want to continue skating, good for you. Take it nice and easy and keep rolling.
Yes! Give it to me quick and dirty! I listen to you everyday! And my progress is improving so much and I practice at least 20 minutes a day! Thank you Dirty Deb!❤️❤️❤️
you talking about how it's natural to put your hands out reminds me that when me and my brother were younger he thought himself to fall with out his hands. he would spend hours literally just falling face-first into the dirt lol
Just started skating a few weeks ago, improving so fast thanks to your videos Dirty! I can't count how many falls I've already avoided by getting in the down low position, and the happy feet step saved my butt outdoors more than once too. Thanks for your awesome teaching Dirty! watching from Argentina here :) keep it up!
I bought my skates back in April but Ive been skating altogether about 1 -1/2 week and I'm finally getting outta the Bambi stage 😌😅😅and its so F**king fun!!!! I put on my music and cruise ☺️☺️☺️learning how to turn came naturally; however I'm practicing stopping and it is challenging but your videos help !
Hey, Deb, finally u did it. Congrats on getting a 100k subscribers. Just keep sharing us with ur inspiring and energetic videos on your skate. I love it.
I bonked my tailbone really good a few months ago its been like 4 months and I still get phantom pains when I move a certain way. Learned how to fall the second I got home. Ice pack on my a$$ and tears in my eyes
Thank you miss Deborah, I have returned to roller skating after 20 plus years( more on the plus side..lol) I'm 48 years old and returning to the sport, I just want to say thank you for your videos and positivity. I'm an old school rink rat now transitioning to outdoor skating. I will admit I'm scared poopless to do it but I'm doing it at my own pace.
This is one of the videos i needed in my life after cracking my tailbone twice. once in a rink and the other avoiding a person in the middle of a footpath while going down a hill, ive been so scared to skate ever since ive lost all confidence. But your videos really give me confidence again. THANK YOU @DIRTY DEBORAH HARRY
One of my skating fears has always been falling in public...not just falling, but where people could see me. I’ve seen a lot of videos lately of good skaters having spectacular falls, and it gave me some reassurance. If they can fall in public, and put it on social media for all to see, I guess it’s not so bad. Also, falling on your tailbone can hurt for not just weeks, but YEARS. It sucks!
I sprained both of my wrists a couple days ago after falling backwards and catching my falls. Now I'm watching all the videos I can so I can get back in the rollerskating rink as soon as I'm done healing! You rock!
I dislocated my knee few months ago but I got back on skates stronger and better I skate on inlines I want to thank dirty school of skate for teaching me how to skate I went from rentals to my skates now thank you much love!
Sending this video to my boss after she bribed me with a croissant to postpone my skating adventures until my coccyx heals (and kids go on a half term break too). I’m currently carrying a donut pillow everywhere with me and trust me, there is nothing cooler than a twenty something young teacher explaining how she injured her butt learning how to roller skate.
In a skating class now that's outside at a pavilion. I hit a rock and went flying up then down so fast I didn't know what was happening. I hit the back of my head. My helmet saved me. I got up and will not give up. I'm fully padded including the shorts. Thanks so much Dirty!
Yessss I loved your speech on the coccyx, you literally just explained the entire rollercoaster of emotion I went thru when I fell RIGHT on it on concrete about a month ago. Needless to say I can’t even tell it happened today and am happily skating every day and learned to cannonball whenever I feel like I’m losing balance. Thanks so much for your awesome videos, you’re the best teacher!
i’ve been waiting to fall i know that had to happen so it happened today. i’m a beginner only skate in my back yard was getting confident not sure what happened but i’ve watched enough youtube and mixed with my fear of falling i got all the gear thank goodness for my crash shorts. butt is a little sore i mean a tiny tiny bit...and my wrist guards..my second fall was worse then my first fall,my first fall i fell forward on my knees and hands. i’m happy with my falls. it made me less afraid of falling as a 61 yr old beginner. thank you DirtyDeborahHarry.
I purchased the hip and butt pads. Sure. Look like a nerd but I fell on my tail and it saved a break and wrist guard helped too. Ppl say I’m to old at 59. But I love it
Thanks, Dirty! I'm recovering from a fall I had last week where I did land on my tailbone and wrist hard! 😭 Nothing is broken, but It sucks to have to take a break from skating this week. I'll try to keep these tips in mind.
I love Dirty Deb so much, her straight forward and ultimately optimistic attitude just eliminate every ounce of doubt about my skating skills/fears that I'll probably ever had and will have. 😂🥰
Haha 🤣 was out practicing my transitions this afternoon and hit the point of “yup, we’re going down!” Immediately brushed off my hands and turned it into a “totally meant to do that” moment, heeded my jelly legs and went home. Gonna have a sore bum tomorrow, but that’s okay. It’s practice, lol 😂
Your happy feed tip is pretty good. I've been doing that on inline skates on every kind of terrain for 20 years and it's a good start. The next step is lifting the landing gear the moment it gets hooked on something, before the plane goes down, where you are the plane. That's for massive obstacles and it takes practices to feel the skates binding and automatically lift knees while throwing your weight backwards to compensate for the tendency to stumble forward. These are great videos.
Thank you Deb, your videos are the best ❤. In the last month, three girls around 6 and 7 years old broke their elbows skating. They are at the after-school activities. My 6yo daughter goes there. She goes with all the gear, knees, elbows pads, wrist guards and helmet. Some of the other girls only knee pads. No helmets. I have to say my daughter has epilepsy so she has to be protected just in case. I didn't wear anything when I was a child but my knees, elbows , hands a were full of scratches and I felt on my butt many times. 😅
I’m glad I watched videos on how to prevent injuries before I began learning to skate! I fell on my first day, but I only bruised my leg because I didn’t panic and knew what to do! and now I’m not afraid of falling! skating is too much fun to be held back by fear!!
I broke my finger 10 days after starting trying to get over speed bumps, three in a row and the last one got me 😕 At least that hasn’t stopped me though! Had to add, your hair looks amazing!🖤
Oh damn! Hope that finger heals up quickly! Thanks for the nice comment about my hair because it was super hot and I had no idea what to do with it! LOL!
Thank you! Thank you! I fell on my butt and my tailbone injury has had me giving my skates the stink eye, this encouraged me to get back to it after a week of rest!
I'm not giving up, but I am hiring you as a coach. My husband won't let me quit anyway. He said it's the name of the game to get injured in any sport. Waiting for October to open up.😉
Yees those padded "diaper" shorts saved me! I fell straight on my tailbone on my first time skating and felt nothing! I tie a shirt on my waist to cover it. Ι only struggled a little with my neck as that fall was like a shock and i had a whiplash effect. I will have in mind to keep the chin down then also.
My dad just got inspired from me skateing and got some sure grip bord walk and loves them he went to the rink took a knee hard first time in 30 years without knee pads he got a goose egg on his knee
Thank you, great tips! My first time out thank Gawd I invested in the pads; first fall was face forward tripped on crack in concrete with a stone jammed in there and landed and skidded on the metal wrist guard barely saving my top lip and teeth *no mouthguard in* from the concrete😑 It happed SO FAST. Later a friend completely unpadded with no helmet landed on the back of her head and it happened even faster. Now I have a full on hockey helmet with the face guard because, my face! ...fear and safety. I just learned about knee gaskets under the knee pads so that's on the list too.
I just wanted to comment and say that I was one of those annoying "why not wear a helmet?!!" people. I've watched so many videos since, and more importantly I've ACTUALLY BEEN SKATING!!!! Thank you for teaching to use protective gear BUT NOT DEPEND ON IT!!!! As a beginner, the windmill will happen and it is better to know how to fall than depend on the integrity of gear to save you. You are SUCH a good teacher!!!
D., Thanks for all your great teaching, and especially for your honesty! Some skaters just tell you to 'learn to fall' or get low and roll. All that kind of advice makes me feel worse; like, great, I can't even fall right? Jeez.
I broke my tailbone years ago, was out horse riding and got thrown off and landed sitting up. Now any little tip to my tailbone and I'm in agony so I'm waiting for padded shorts to give me some extra protection!!
this video is perfect timing! i’ve been practicing outdoors trying to get the hang of skating, however i don’t currently have protection as i can’t afford it for now. hoping to buy some in the next couple of weeks, so this is really helpful! i’ve loved learning from you 😊
Good video. I'm on week 3 from my butt injury, and had padded shorts on. I believe the pads saved me from a fracture, because I felt my soul leave my body when I fell. It happened while trying to transition. Even bought a butt pillow to sit. Was feeling discouraged, but I plan on skating again in a few days. Thanks for the video!
I am telling you... tailbone smacks are no joke! They are an endless source of pain, discomfort and awkward conversations with other people. Heal up quick my skater friend.
The rink I go to has a plexiglass barrier you need to step over to get into/out of and on my way out my foot slipped (I had my skates on) and I landed right on my crotch. It was a scary trip to the ER 🥺 this is more of a freak accident but hopefully no one ever has to experience this pain because OUCH.
Aww I am so sorry!! I hope you got through it quickly and healed right back up. The rinks I go to have a portion of the wall to step over too (being hockey rinks)... so thanks for the warning about that.
Hell, I'm watching this video because honestly Dirty is just entertaining. Go out and skate ppl, use guards and have fun!! I'm 55 and there are older ppl who I see who skate here in CA. It's honestly blissful=)
Do you have a video on how to wear skates/put them on? What the difference it may make if you lace them high or low, or tight or loose? I've searched your videos and couldn't find one. I've been binging on your videos by the way and love how you break things down step by step.
Thank you Debb I think this is the first time You have made a video with your hair down I am sure your husband has gotten tangled up in it more than once ,we wouldn't go there ,Thanks to the you tube police they are no longer giving me any notices of any of my sub channels ,because I am awake and they don't like how I view there outlook including yours channel ,so now I have stoke you to get your newest videos ,That's why I have not been replying to your past few video's I am a ham radio operator and a girl in our club is a good friend of mine and I got her skating so I pass on your video's to her ,Your replies back to me from your pass video's not only make me proud to get a personal hello from Debb herself ,but very dear too my heart always from me to you Charlie from the (Rotten Apple State.)
My first fall was on my back no helmet.. my first reaction was to hold my chin to my chest! It worked, so thats true!! I didnt know it was a real thing.
I broke my tailbone and luxated it in January 2015 while snowboarding. It's still luxated, I've a sever nerve damage now and it still hurts like I fell yesterday. Can't sit long. Since I started rollerskating, sept 2018, I learned how to fall so I wouldn't hurt my tailbone more, but I didn't knew back then that padded pants excist. I'm thinking to buy that or maybe the turtle padded cushion after my procedure to heal/help my nerve damage. Thanks Dirty to make people aware !
I have a physical job and literally can’t afford to get hurt. But I need to do exercise that’s fun or else I won’t do it. So I’m decked out in helmet, wrist, knee & elbow pads, and butt pads. I fell once so far and was able to roll and not get hurt and keep going. And it was a surprise crack in the pavement so hard to predict
I fell RIGHT on my elbow yesterday after choosing not to wear elbow pads, but wore helmet, knee & wrist guards. I learned my lesson lol, it's very sore and swollen today but I'll be okay.
I broke my wrist and ankle in 2018, it was such a traumatizing experience, I wish I had this info then because I honestly didn't know why I fell until I watched your videos I finally got my revelation on body posture, I have permanent hardware in both and it turned my life upside down but I'm determined not be defeated and I will get back on those skates.
The idea of Injuring myself is really scary, I am 13 and have never broken anything. The worst I have gone through is twisting my ankle. But lately I have been getting into skating. Your videos are always, informative, easy to understand, and fun. Thanks for helping me with my skate journey! 😁💕
13 is such a great age to start. Your body has a lot more flexibility and agility that it will when you are MUCH older. Your body is more adept at learning new things too! So go forth and have fun!!!
I took a hard fall on the tail when I was going over a bridge. My fault. I did some kind of little panic move when I got to the expansion joint of a bridge. It actually didn't hurt me but it scared the crap out of this older couple that saw me fall. The man came running to help me as I popped up. The worst injury so far has been to my left shoulder. I guess I bruised or injured a tendon. It's been about a month and I'll get almost 100% then jerk my arm or some guy at the rink runs into me and it sets back the healing. I wear pads and helmet outside but not at the rink. I'm going to start wearing wrist guards at the rink, too. I'm 64 and have only been skating for 8 months after nearly 50 years. Every time I've fallen it's because I was not moving, going to slowly or simply hesitated when I should have sped up. I learn something every time I roll.
49 and a new roller skater here. I also used to rollerblade so roller skating is a little challenging. Day 2 skating in my living room practicing bubbles and I went down. Lucky I turned to the side and fell on my hip but man I busted my elbow. Me being me I didn’t have my safety gear on and I won’t make that mistake again. I did by some craft foam that I will be making my own padding for my backside cause I done want to risk a tail bone injury.
I'm 40 years old and broke my wrist just 4 months after I start learning. Back then felt so stupid using protection and now I feel stupid for not wear it. From now on knee and wrist protection is a must for me.
I wish you were around with these videos when I started. I've skated for 23 years. Have fractured my left wrist twice and right wrist once protecting my head and butt. I've worn my wrist guards 100% of the time for the last 10 years. Thanks for the reminders!

I have this exact problem!
Get wrist guards!
Rhiannon Cloke I have some but I’m worried about them haha
@@Kiwikick238 don't be! they work perfectly, I always land on my wrists (got them sprained a few times, I try to fall with my butt but I fail miserably), and since I got wrist guards I fell many many times and never injured my wrists again! Do practice bending your elbow though, wrists guards and bent elbows will almost for sure prevent wrist injuries!
I ALWaYS wear a helmet, padded shorts, and wrist guards! They don’t make you invincible though! Thanks for the tips Dirty!
You are correct. I wish they could make us invincible but they don't.
I have been trying to get padded shorts - but they only seem to be in smaller sizes
My sister has in-line skates she use to go out and just fall. Over and over and over again finding new ways to fall. She told me it was learn the right way to fall so it hurts less and what will make her fall. Idk how she didnt get brain damage
i literally can’t control my falls they happen so fast
It is difficult to control falls. The more you do practice getting low and falling on purpose the better you will get at "controlling" them when they happen suddenly.
How's it going 6 months later? I feel the same way lol ughhh I just started learning on Monday
SO fast. As soon as you realize you're falling; it's already over.
I’ve been skating for 24 days and it’s the BEST THING EVER 💖💖💖Thanks so much for the help ❤️ You’re AMAZING 🌟🌟🌟 100K 🥳🥳🥳
I broke my tailbone on day 2 last week. :(
Ouch ( Maybe practice on the carpet first? I skated on the carpet in the living room for 2 weeks and only then moved on to the smooth floor. My first day I stood up on them and grabbed the door, next thing I knew I was on the floor 😂 You don’t roll too much on the carpet, give it a try when you get better ..Trust me skating is a great feeling 💗💗💗
Ikr i love her vids she makes me wanna get out there 👏 on your skate journey
I just started going outside with my skates I do better day by day since I can’t get to the skate rink I’m practicing my outdoor skating and I haven’t fell I stumble but tend to keep my balance
@@Katkandie how it is now? did you continue?
I also learned tucking my chin from gymnastics! I do it instinctively when falling backwards at all!
Oh that is great. I did not know that gymnasts do that too!
Don't forget bruised egos. ;). Lol
TRUTH!
Oh damn.... I too hope she is alright.
*flashbacks to my bruised tailbone from a fluke fall during a hockey game*
I have used the "drop it low" to save me and my friend from wrecking hard several times. I've scuffed my knees and hands at worst, and it wouldn't have been that bad if I had gotten my pads beforehand. I love your tutorials Dirty Deb!!!! ❤️
I’m four days on skates and my body super sore it’s a learning process and I love it
WOW thanks for this video!!
I just got over a tailbone break from trying a little ramp at the skate park. I thought my big butt had enough padding ... 🤬 no.
🤕
Right?! You would think natural padding would work!
I love all your videos but this one right here 👏🏻 thank you for everything! Youre the best and your vibe is out of this world 🫶🏻
Me: * watching after breaking my leg roller skating so I can skate again with less fear on injury *
How did you do it?! Also trying to avoid hurting myself
@@NatalieBoat111 I was skating out of the driveway and my back wheels got caught on the edge of it 😭 I knew it was broken the instant I fell. I found it really helpful to fill my social media with other skaters who have been or are injured. It’s just part of the journey!
Hayley Towers UGH I’m so sorry! Glad you were able to keep a positive outlook despite the injury- are you still skating?
doing the same thing after i broke my wrist hahaha. broke mine the same way but the driveway was sloped, my trucks were still tight, couldnt stop, lost balance... buying protective gear as soon as i can have more motion in my wrist without so much pain!
Lol just injured my already injured tailbone 3 days ago so now im looking at videos on how to avoid injuries
@@Dirtydeborahharry I do love it! I love getting better each time I practice! So easy to just toss on some headphones and get going! Thank you!
Deb: Do you just need to spend some money?
Me: Well if I wasn't broke I'd say yeah
i feel that haha!
Whenever I wobble, I remember what Dirty said -> bend your knees...and I did! Thanks Dirty! - Your newbie 47 year old skater
Yes! Give it to me quick and dirty! I listen to you everyday! And my progress is improving so much and I practice at least 20 minutes a day! Thank you Dirty Deb!❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much for supporting me and my channel. I really appreciate it.
you talking about how it's natural to put your hands out reminds me that when me and my brother were younger he thought himself to fall with out his hands. he would spend hours literally just falling face-first into the dirt lol
Fell on my tailbone several years ago skating. Very very painful....Just now getting back into it but fearful of that happening again.
Funny this video comes out right after I badly sprain my wrist practicing on rough asphalt last night after work...
Rippl Plant-Tec™ Wrist Guards a must for skating outdoors. The cheap hand ones will hurt our palm if you fall because they move.
You rock!
I would love to skate on this rink floor. It looks so maintained.
I dislocated my knee few months ago but I got back on skates stronger and better I skate on inlines I want to thank dirty school of skate for teaching me how to skate I went from rentals to my skates now thank you much love!
Wish I saw this a couple days ago. Just broke my wrist skating lol
Oh damn!!! Heal up quickly skater!
Broke my tailbone ages ago and my god it hurt so bad! Definately protect your bum!
It is a pain in the a$$ right?! Glad you are still skating!!!!
I knew about the chin tuck thanks to watching wrestling for years; it's VERY important and will prevent a lot of potentially serious injuries!
YES!!!!!!!!!!!
I only just started skating and already hurt my wrist 😂
Got some wrist guards on order lmao
Thanks for the tips Deb ❤️❤️
i’ve been waiting to fall i know that had to happen so it happened today. i’m a beginner only skate in my back yard was getting confident not sure what happened but i’ve watched enough youtube and mixed with my fear of falling i got all the gear thank goodness for my crash shorts. butt is a little sore i mean a tiny tiny bit...and my wrist guards..my second fall was worse then my first fall,my first fall i fell forward on my knees and hands. i’m happy with my falls. it made me less afraid of falling as a 61 yr old beginner. thank you DirtyDeborahHarry.
I purchased the hip and butt pads. Sure. Look like a nerd but I fell on my tail and it saved a break and wrist guard helped too. Ppl say I’m to old at 59. But I love it
I am very cautious and I'm nervous to start skating so this can help me not get hurt and feel safe 👍👍
Thanks, Dirty! I'm recovering from a fall I had last week where I did land on my tailbone and wrist hard! 😭 Nothing is broken, but It sucks to have to take a break from skating this week. I'll try to keep these tips in mind.
Me too, ouchhh, I fell backwards and I knew exactly what was happening...I had protection but it still hurts
Awwww damn! I am so sorry for you. Hopefully you heal up quickly.
I love Dirty Deb so much, her straight forward and ultimately optimistic attitude just eliminate every ounce of doubt about my skating skills/fears that I'll probably ever had and will have. 😂🥰
My butt hurts currently 😂. I can’t sit on hard chairs or the floor at all 😖
Haha 🤣 was out practicing my transitions this afternoon and hit the point of “yup, we’re going down!” Immediately brushed off my hands and turned it into a “totally meant to do that” moment, heeded my jelly legs and went home. Gonna have a sore bum tomorrow, but that’s okay. It’s practice, lol 😂
Girl I busted my ass 2 days ago and it's the worst! At 49 skating again and love it. Hopefully tailbone heals soon!!! Love ya! ❤️
The bit about "liftin the landing gear" is key! I instinctually do that every time my wheel hits the tiny debris that will take you down in a moment
I didn't wear anything when I was a child but my knees, elbows , hands a
were full of scratches and I felt on my butt many times. 😅
Your videos are helping so much! Ordered my skates today AND a full set of safety gear so I can start out right.
Waiting for October to open up.😉
Great descriptive video! Better to be forewarned than find out what you should have done AFTER you have hit the ground!
I’ve been skating for a little over a month and it’s amazing how much I’ve improved thanks to your tutorials!
I just learned about knee gaskets under the knee pads so that's on the list too.
butchered my wrists doing a fun speed skate, and a seven year old decided to run me into a wall.. ugh...
Today’s day 15 for me! Thank you so much!!!
I naturally put my chin down when I start to fall backwards after so many times hurting myself when I was little without skating.
Those custom boots are gorgeous!!
They were white. My friend painted them using leather paint.
Congratulations Dirty Deb 100,000K love ya ❤️! Oh yeah, I have a helmet, elbow, wrist, and knee guards. Still managed to bust up my shoulder.
Oh damn!!!
D., Thanks for all your great teaching, and especially for your honesty! Some skaters just tell you to 'learn to fall' or get low and roll. All that kind of advice makes me feel worse; like, great, I can't even fall right? Jeez.
i love seeing people in the background of your videos 😂❤
I do too! But it makes me jealous, gotta be real. 💜
I was JUST about to go skating, day 3!! Good timing lmao
YEAH!!!! It does work!!!
I just learned what luxated meant! Thank you. So sorry about your tailbone. It is so painful.
@@Dirtydeborahharry thank you for all of your skating(related)videos ! You're an awesome person and skater 😊
I broke my tailbone skating, it was VERY unforgiving.
Fantastic video!! Your personality is fantastic!!
Thank you so much!!
Oh, Dirty, I love learning from you so much! You have a gift.
