@@dunstglocke1374 I've been mourning Teenage Bounty Hunters that shit was gold, then Netflix decides nahhhhh let's make Emily in Paris instead, the most controversial shit to ever hit this green Earth.
i think one of the bigger and more interesting moments in the show is when vinnie kisses a girl and his alleged 'fans' start attacking her for it. just goes to show how idol-obsessed people, younger ones especially can get and how they think they get to have and express their opinion on things. also, just because you follow someone on tiktok or instagram, it doesnt mean you know them, you are not privileged to anything that person says or does, especially not who they're romantically involved with.
I mean for me it just felt like everybody needs therapy. Like Thomas and Alex were straight up traumatized from their childhoods and tried to cover that up with hustle? I was sitting there watching and couldn't believe that nobody brought it up. Not even their girlfriends. Stop. Get some help.
i was shocked by how casually they talked about their trauma and brushed it off but their girlfriends did bring it up and tried to get them to take a break(thomas’s gf has major trauma she needs to deal with too ). i honestly blame the other hype house members because they were not doing their jobs and causing unnecessary stress.

@@lunamoon6390 Yeah that's true, but I also think that other hype house members working as they should would not resolve how wrong they take care of their trauma and issues. i haven't seen the series and know none of these people, but just as a different point of view, the partners could have tried to have the more serious discussions privately (and that's honestly how it should be done). they deserve actual professional help though and could afford it, so hopefully they'll also pursue it some day.
The biggest outcome for me was, that I saw a ton of traumatized kids living in a mansion for basically free. I felt sorry for Thomas the entire time, imagine bringing people under a roof together to work and no one decides to work, I would riot.

Vinnie literally could have his own show and he’d get more hype than that whole hype house 🤣 a lot of those members would probably do better if they left and did their own thing and got their own deals
as someone who is immunocompromised/extremely high risk for complications (i’m currently on 3 different high dose immunosuppressant medications) it never ceases to baffle me how little perspective these people have.watching them try to frame themselves as these beacons of positivity just feels so patronizing, especially as someone who’s life is in direct risk by the type of actions they have taken
i’m also immunocompromised, completely agree. it’s crazy to see how apathetic and unaware people are. nikita has hosted a bunch of (absolutely no social distancing) lockdown parties that could have been superspreader events, and then fact that larry KNEW he was positive but didn’t care and chose to party and risk infecting others is just sickening to me. and then they have the audacity to complain about a weeks quarantine in their million dollar mansion whilst all of their work and income streams are online anyway.
@@seph7782 exactly. and then to insist on their brands of "positivity" and performative activism after making it so obvious they do not care about other's lives

I could literally care less about the D’Amelio sisters but I must say...it’s so stupid how Thomas thinks the Hype House made them famous. Charli would be successful with or without him. If anything SHE made HIM famous. Literally nobody knew who he was until she and Dixie associated with him. He’s honestly so cocky and arrogant and it pisses me off.
I mean being in the Hype Hoyse did grow their following alot. Also Charli and Addison really blew up when they started stealing content from black creators
I watched the show and the only thing that made me really upset with seeing how Thomas would defend the other members of the House for not doing the work he was clearly stressed out about. He would constantly say that he was running a business but the people in the house were his family so it was hard for him to put down his foot. Like the whole time I watching I was waiting for Thomas to stand up to them and say if you’re not gonna put in work there are hundreds of straight white boys that can replace you in an instant. There were a lot of annoying things in the show but I think that was the biggest one for me
Very refreshing and nuanced video considering the subject matter! It’s very easy to make a video just pointing out how cringe everything is (and to be fair, I do love a healthy handful of pointing-out-cringe content) but it’s nice to hear creators take burnout and work conditions seriously, even when talking abt ppl you don’t necessarily like
my absolute favorite part of watching your videos is that every single time you post is like: “here is a video about something slightly traumatizing you’ve never hear about before” also love the bedroom plants
love how Nikita basically just admits that being and staying a decent person is so extremely difficult for her that she's not even going to try anymore lol
Damn, I just watched this two days ago. My friend and I were just thoroughly baffled by how toxic the whole environment was. Like, these guys need therapy and financial advisors. There was nooo work/life-balance, a whole lot of gaslighting and really weird intimate moments shared on camera. It didn't feel organic, it felt like Thomas was behind the camera with a gun pressuring them to MAKE CONTENT.
If anything this just showed me how sad and stressed these guys are. Suddenly blowing up on an app and all of a sudden making 80k from ads alone before you're 24. I don't like a lot of these people but man is this depressing
Nikita is lowkey predatory, but if anyone tried to call her out and bring attention toward it her and her stand would call anyone who can see it transphobic.
Proud of you. I started watching it out of sheer curiosity/a craving for cringe but I only made it 5 min in. I too thought, why are they releasing this now as opposed to like 2 years ago when The Hype House actually had…hype? I only recognize like 3 people living there.
It also made me jealous for some 18 yr old to say in the intro something along the lines of “I post videos from my bed, get paid millions and live in a mansion in LA.” I live here too and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous and tempted to start lip synching/dancing to top 40 hits.
I had so much second hand embarassment watching miss Nikita Dragun inserting herself into the dramas of literal teenagers Also I cannot with The Pisces!!! Good luck with it on audible because it gets really pornographic 🤣
I was never too familiar with the old hype house but at least could recognize a good portion of the members because they were constantly in the news. Now, there’s barely anyone I can say I’ve ever heard of and I think that’s so indicative of the current social media space. An overflow of supply with a lack of demand. It’s such an unsustainable model it’s crazy and I’m honestly shocked that house still exists. Especially considering a lot of the members just blatantly refuse to do their jobs. I think I’d go crazy if I was Petrou.
i was thinking the same thing!!! im not sure if its like super popular in america and thats why?? but i dont know anyone who drinks it in canada kfjdkfjf
I’m in the school of thought that they had to play up the lack of plot and storyline between larray and nikita bc two hype house members are in like a SA scandal so they didn’t include them in the series
Thank you for not defaulting to the cringe factor. This is the first actual take I've heard on the show. It's unfortunate, but I feel like these content creators would benefit from being more open about the stress in a way that they don't profit from their breakdown or serious conversations. Social media has been terrible lately because the people on our front pages are so money-obsessed that it ruins what their followers came for in the first place. I don't really blame these people for behaving the way they do on social media (barring the obvious morally unsound decisions). It's really just pitiful. And it won't change anytime soon because it's clearly working. They have followers and views and sponsorships, so why stop?
omg? casey youre always so beautiful but today you're just?? ethereal?? did you do something new with your hair or makeup? you look absolutely stunning!!
When I saw it on Netflix I went on a rant to my partner about Nikita and everyone else's (that I knew) controversies. Glad I can get a recap without having to watch it myself 😂 you're so strong
I think you would enjoy the Candis and Andy Meredith Drama, the home makeover couple under the Magnolia umbrella that basically committed fraud. Could maybe be a fun video idea.
this a super good take on what’s underdocumented and should have been taken more seriously and why. I couldn’t have put up with watching this but I totally agree with everything you’re saying. Especially about creator stress and burnout, even when it has to do with these kids who not a lot of ppl care about as ppl.
I thoroughly enjoyed this. Your honesty was refreshing. I was waiting for you to drag them to Hell and back. The compassion was very authentic. Great job.
It's kinda like the Dixie and Charli"s show, you expected it to be cringe but it's more sad and a interesting look into young people being worked to the bone in a new environment that is internet influence. It's kinda interesting cause it kinda feels like both shows were trying to jump on the gap that shows like keeping up with the Kardashians left, but the environment has changed so much. Not just reality-type TV but how these types of influencers interact with the public and how audiences see them. If these shows came out in 2017 it may have been really different (I feel like in that short time the climate has changed so much which idk is cause of the pandemic or how Internet trends come and go like 10x faster than irl) And how we see reality type stuff, and events happening in realtime with these influencers being on social media vs how long it take a show to come out
What’s even sadder with Charli and Dixie is the show is about them and their family so there even more stuck in this siduation especially charli cause she was under 18 while filming it so she’s kinda stuck doing what her parents ask. At least the hype house guys are doing this semi on the own and if they don’t want to anymore they can quit but charli (and Dixie despite being an adult) are kinda stuck cause their parents are involved now as it’s clear how much they want fame and money at the exspences of their daughters
I was cringing when chase was acting like it’s such a burden to film a sponsored tiktok while he’s just chilling and doing nothing in his giant mansion
post-upload twitch discussion when!? this show was depressing to me because it shows how little most of these kids think about fame, so they either get bogged down in sponsorships or try out music which isn't any safer of a career path! it's basically magcon all over again and it's wild to me that this will continue to happen in perpetuity.
I def agree w the critiques you’re making and would be interested to hear your thoughts on the d’amelio show ! i’ve only watched a few episodes but I feel like it explored the burnout of creators and their interior lives in a much stronger way
I like how there was an article that came out recently with some of the members admitting they made some storylines up for the show which, not shocking a lot of reality shows do that, but that makes it more sad cause whoever was in charge of making them up...kinda did a crappy job of I’m being honest...pretty lazy job imo but I’m not shocked lol
gonna just go ahead and parrot other comments and say how great this video is. it's always refreshing to see other creators look at the tiktok crew with empathy and nuance rather than just sticking to the "haha tiktok is so cringe" viewpoint that seemingly abandons the idea that these teens and twentysomethings are people first. not always the most responsible or respectful people, but still. reminds me of drew gooden's video about the charli d'amelio show
I came into the video sort of wanting a vicious drag at these people, but you came (and do so consistently) with more compassion for their situation than I did. It put a lot of stuff in perspective for me, and I've got to thank you for that.
I don't understand what Californians mean when they say they're going to the desert. Is it like camping? Do they pitch tents? Is there stuff to see or do they just sit in the sand?
hard to tackle something like creating a health work to life balance when you don't know what that is. No one is taught how to do anything in the 'adult world', we are so ill prepared on a physical an mental level it's redonk. It leads to a majority of adults being emotionally immature and being less skilled in critical thinking, two things that are so fucking important and effect arguably every aspect of a persons life. We still don't have 'regular' jobs functioning to support its workers, so the crazy increase of these new ones over the course of these past 10ish years has just further made the issue of my point before not only more highlighted but worse. Right back to 'suck it up so you don't lose your home' instead of actual support and safety.
Man I’m chronically ill and my disability assistance doesn’t cover necessary surgeries, my teeth need immediate care & the daily pain is changing me as a person. Hearing that they make $80k via sponsors might just be enough to convince me into downloading tiktok ☠️ jfc

I don’t know if you’ve ever read Barret Swanson’s “The Anxiety of Influencers” but he stayed with this content house and gave a really in depth view into their life’s and worries with the instability of TikTok. I wish Netflix would have taken more of this approach with the series rather than the nothingness they gave lol
Is it a book or article? Sounds really interesting
i havent but ill def check it out that sounds so interesting
i love that article!! the part where they decide to play basketball and make teams and then just like drift off, and one of them admits this always happens was so black mirror-esque
@@Starburst514 It's an article! it's long but it's a good read
Omg yes that was such a good article!!
I feel like a huge reason why they fell off was bc of their attitude during the pandemic. All of them continuing to party and go to restaurants and then complaining about “not being able to make content” in their house of like 20 ppl. Like nobody feels bad for them lol
Why on earth they thought people would want to watch this is beyond me
tbh i assume they signed for it back when the initial media craze was happening??? like thats the only way it makes sense 😭😭
out of touch old white ppl saw the articles written back in 2020 and thought those kids are actually popular
@@lunamoon6390 nah mate it’s the 11 year olds, I remember I used to be OBSESSED w Logan Paul when I was 12 so it’s probs just a phase
I think they agreed to film it before Covid happened.
The part where they claim that the hype house is the one to blame for the female tik tokers fame, when they themselves were pretty popular before the hype house, has some misogynistic undertones.
they cancel so many good shows for other shows like Hype House and Emily in Paris. Netflix really has no idea what it's doing nowadays. 😔
emily in paris just got renewed for two more seasons bestie ❤️❤️🥳
@@jasminekt5204 two MORE?
Still mourning the loss of The Dark Crystal 😔
do NOT get me started on “i am not okay with this” and “the get down” and “trinkets”😭😭😭
@@dunstglocke1374 I've been mourning Teenage Bounty Hunters that shit was gold, then Netflix decides nahhhhh let's make Emily in Paris instead, the most controversial shit to ever hit this green Earth.
This whole time I thought it was supposed to be a documentary ABOUT the hype house. Almost watched it. Dodged a bullet.
Same
i think one of the bigger and more interesting moments in the show is when vinnie kisses a girl and his alleged 'fans' start attacking her for it. just goes to show how idol-obsessed people, younger ones especially can get and how they think they get to have and express their opinion on things. also, just because you follow someone on tiktok or instagram, it doesnt mean you know them, you are not privileged to anything that person says or does, especially not who they're romantically involved with.
i'm living for Casey calling Larray "Larry" the whole time byeeee
his real name is larri so she’s not off
That’s how it’s pronounced in the show
@@kaepiper I think it’s pronounced Lah-ray tho
Wait what happened to them?
@@katkay9923 alex had an abusive, alcoholic mom and his dad passed away when he was young, he was kicked out by his mom and was homeless for a while, he also takes care of his older brother (can’t find a job) and pays for his sister’s tuition i think. thomas had an abusive childhood (i think his mom’s boyfriend or something) and his parents were divorced when he was young. Mia(?) says she got a restraining order against her dad cuz he was stalking her.
@@lunamoon6390 Yeah that's true, but I also think that other hype house members working as they should would not resolve how wrong they take care of their trauma and issues. Yes, it would definitely help to not cause them unnecessary stress but these guys are deeply emotionaly hurt and anyone else but them won't change that.
i haven't seen the series and know none of these people, but just as a different point of view, the partners could have tried to have the more serious discussions privately (and that's honestly how it should be done). they deserve actual professional help though and could afford it, so hopefully they'll also pursue it some day.
The biggest outcome for me was, that I saw a ton of traumatized kids living in a mansion for basically free. I felt sorry for Thomas the entire time, imagine bringing people under a roof together to work and no one decides to work, I would riot.
my 57 year old mother has been watching this and when i went into the living room i was judging everybody on this show and she got SO OFFENDED. she was like THESE KIDS ARE WORKING SO HARD. i died a little inside
Vinnie literally could have his own show and he’d get more hype than that whole hype house 🤣 a lot of those members would probably do better if they left and did their own thing and got their own deals
Frr
as someone who is immunocompromised/extremely high risk for complications (i’m currently on 3 different high dose immunosuppressant medications) it never ceases to baffle me how little perspective these people have.watching them try to frame themselves as these beacons of positivity just feels so patronizing, especially as someone who’s life is in direct risk by the type of actions they have taken
i’m also immunocompromised, completely agree. it’s crazy to see how apathetic and unaware people are. nikita has hosted a bunch of (absolutely no social distancing) lockdown parties that could have been superspreader events, and then fact that larry KNEW he was positive but didn’t care and chose to party and risk infecting others is just sickening to me. and then they have the audacity to complain about a weeks quarantine in their million dollar mansion whilst all of their work and income streams are online anyway.
@@seph7782 exactly. and then to insist on their brands of "positivity" and performative activism after making it so obvious they do not care about other's lives
Am I the only one who literally forgot the hype house existed
They’re al so bland and annoying I forgot about. them like 2 years ago lol
Same for me to be honest
The only guy I kinda remember still is Larray
we as a society do not talk about creator fatigue and how the internet affects mental health enough. the pandemic alone probably did us all some brain damage
There were a lot of annoying things in the show but I think that was the biggest one for me
The biggest annoyance for me was Nikita Dragun herself, but yeah that too
they didn't even edit out the parts that suggested they were all "friend" for the clout. It was very obvious most of them didn't even like each other
Very refreshing and nuanced video considering the subject matter! It’s very easy to make a video just pointing out how cringe everything is (and to be fair, I do love a healthy handful of pointing-out-cringe content) but it’s nice to hear creators take burnout and work conditions seriously, even when talking abt ppl you don’t necessarily like
my absolute favorite part of watching your videos is that every single time you post is like: “here is a video about something slightly traumatizing you’ve never hear about before” also love the bedroom plants
i know nothing about this people, but isn’t everyone like 17/19 and nikita dragon is like 25?
Every damn time Casey uploads I will literally stop whatever I’m doing to watch it
im 🥺🥺💓
@@caseyaonso4270 Such well made content. Thank you
I live for how you call out Nikita in the NICEST way
"They're gonna crash eventually, but they're going too fast for anyone to do anything about it"
- Casey Aonso
I love this quote
Girlie omg I can't believe you watched this for us 😢
love how Nikita basically just admits that being and staying a decent person is so extremely difficult for her that she's not even going to try anymore lol
I had so much second hand embarassment watching miss Nikita Dragun inserting herself into the dramas of literal teenagers
Also I cannot with The Pisces!!! Good luck with it on audible because it gets really pornographic 🤣
YESSSSS I was waiting for this video so I didn’t have to contribute to the hate watching and the terrifying possibility of a renewal season
omg loona
i find it interesting how already 2 members (Chase and Larray) have already spoken out against it and said how it mis-represented stuff
i mean they were portrayed terribly i wouldn’t be shocked if they were just saying that to not get backlash
this is a very very thorough criticism and i appreciate how u didnt write it off for simply being a reality tv show. amazing job!!!
I think I’d go crazy if I was Petrou.
..... people buy bang energy enough for the guy to waste 80k on a bunch of kids?? o.o
i was thinking the same thing!!! im not sure if its like super popular in america and thats why?? but i dont know anyone who drinks it in canada kfjdkfjf
@@caseyaonso4270 yeah bang is verrry popular here in the US. The gas station i worked at struggled to keep cerrain flavors in stock regularly.
You know I’m on the right spaces on the internet when I had no clue about this “show” 😌
Perfect timing I’m about to eat lunch. I’ve been waiting for you to make a video about this.
omg name twin enjoy ur lunch 😌
I'm just baffled.. How did the mansion not invested with rats yet
What I’m gathering is that they addressed how unlikeable these people are and how content houses are for idiots and narcissists?
I’m in the school of thought that they had to play up the lack of plot and storyline between larray and nikita bc two hype house members are in like a SA scandal so they didn’t include them in the series
A part of me suspects that Casey secretly likes these shows and that lowkey scares me
Thank you for not defaulting to the cringe factor.
I was surprised that every interaction they have with each other they have to film and not just hang out
This hair color looks really good on you!!
Nikita uses black outrage for promotion. I will forever dislike her for that and that she shows no desire to change.
omg? casey youre always so beautiful but today you're just?? ethereal?? did you do something new with your hair or makeup? you look absolutely stunning!!
$80000 is more than most people make in a year. This is horrific.
When I saw it on Netflix I went on a rant to my partner about Nikita and everyone else's (that I knew) controversies. Glad I can get a recap without having to watch it myself 😂 you're so strong
thank you for taking one for the team casey. you've done a service that can never be repaid.
I think you would enjoy the Candis and Andy Meredith Drama, the home makeover couple under the Magnolia umbrella that basically committed fraud. Could maybe be a fun video idea.
Who's candis?
i just read about this and it’s WILD ty for commenting about it!
this a super good take on what’s underdocumented and should have been taken more seriously and why.
Great job.
boy netflix has really done it this time >:|
It's kinda like the Dixie and Charli"s show, you expected it to be cringe but it's more sad and a interesting look into young people being worked to the bone in a new environment that is internet influence.
It's kinda interesting cause it kinda feels like both shows were trying to jump on the gap that shows like keeping up with the Kardashians left, but the environment has changed so much. Not just reality-type TV but how these types of influencers interact with the public and how audiences see them. If these shows came out in 2017 it may have been really different (I feel like in that short time the climate has changed so much which idk is cause of the pandemic or how Internet trends come and go like 10x faster than irl)
And how we see reality type stuff, and events happening in realtime with these influencers being on social media vs how long it take a show to come out
What’s even sadder with Charli and Dixie is the show is about them and their family so there even more stuck in this siduation especially charli cause she was under 18 while filming it so she’s kinda stuck doing what her parents ask. At least the hype house guys are doing this semi on the own and if they don’t want to anymore they can quit but charli (and Dixie despite being an adult) are kinda stuck cause their parents are involved now as it’s clear how much they want fame and money at the exspences of their daughters
@@thelonleyUchiha1 Yeah excatly! Even more sad, I felt so bad for them, I mean they're just normal kids being pushed into it
I was cringing when chase was acting like it’s such a burden to film a sponsored tiktok while he’s just chilling and doing nothing in his giant mansion
post-upload twitch discussion when!?
this show was depressing to me because it shows how little most of these kids think about fame, so they either get bogged down in sponsorships or try out music which isn't any safer of a career path! it's basically magcon all over again and it's wild to me that this will continue to happen in perpetuity.
I honestly feel so bad for Thomas like he trying so hard and their all just using him
influencers want to be celebrities but they aren’t and they need to realize it
I def agree w the critiques you’re making and would be interested to hear your thoughts on the d’amelio show ! i’ve only watched a few episodes but I feel like it explored the burnout of creators and their interior lives in a much stronger way
If you haven't already, watch Drew Gooden's video on the d'amelio show. He's really thoughtful and kind towards the kids
really liked the way you approached ur commentary about this show. great vid as usual ♥️
"i'm an entrepreneur. i'm such a giver."
nono ME im the bigger giver 😡😡
gonna just go ahead and parrot other comments and say how great this video is. it's always refreshing to see other creators look at the tiktok crew with empathy and nuance rather than just sticking to the "haha tiktok is so cringe" viewpoint that seemingly abandons the idea that these teens and twentysomethings are people first. not always the most responsible or respectful people, but still. reminds me of drew gooden's video about the charli d'amelio show
So lemme get this straight, Nikita thinks that people will hold her to a lower standard...if she looks black...got it.
I came into the video sort of wanting a vicious drag at these people, but you came (and do so consistently) with more compassion for their situation than I did. It put a lot of stuff in perspective for me, and I've got to thank you for that.
Your take on this things is always so pleasant to watch because you always make very good points

hard to tackle something like creating a health work to life balance when you don't know what that is.
It’s giving ✨ late-stage capitalism ✨
