Since auto companies share parts, no telling where the next land mine is. Older dodge stuff was fine. My dad had a 98 Caravan that had 313,131 miles (no joke) when someone rear ended him on the freeway so hard that it snapped the rear axle and put a ripple in the entire frame from back to front. Did I mention it was also Friday the 13th? I have an 88 Dakota that I've put over 100,000 miles on in 12 years of owning it. The only two major things I had to do were an engine replacement and transmission rebuild because the previous owner never changed any fluids and grenaded both. Besides the odd electrical gremlin and vacuum system issues, it's been pretty reliable.

I have done so many of those oil coolers on journeys, caravans, jeeps.. such a bad design. I can get one of those intakes off in about 5 minutes now or less 😂
@adotintheshark4848 Yes.. if the manufacturer would make it aluminum from the get go, there wouldn't be so much of an issue. But the manufacturers do stuff like this so they can keep their consumers going back to the dealer to spend money. Another huge example is how ford is doing their timing components nowadays. Need special tools, and damn near every pulley is involved in the timing.
The new Durango oil coolers are failing so badly they're not even buying the police interceptors anymore lol Penns State Police said they were buying a bunch but now aren't.
This engine platform goes way back, when Daimler had their hands on Chrysler, before Fiat took over and installed these engines in 2011. Stellantis just has the leftovers from Daimler now.

2019 already a new transmission and oil cooler. My Toyota Siena 179k oil changes, transmission fluid changes two wheel bearings and one set of spark plugs but we’re getting close to another.

Stellantis not real keen keeping Dodge Brand since it's unprofitable and most N.A factories closed now since all V8 engines discontinued after 2023. Only Ram stands a chance of viability. It's likely sold off shortly.
Had the same issue on my Jeep jk, I replaced it with the aluminum cooler so I didn’t have the issue again, took me about 5 hours to do it myself as I had never done one before, saved $1,200 by not taking it to the dealer, these should have definitely been a recall but their not which is why I’ll never own another Chrysler product with the garbage plastic engine parts.
